I have never seen a guard fight a madman, they will just watch you die as the madman kicks the &#$@ out of you!

I had 2 on me, ran up to a guard, and
he clobbered those 2 bozo water droppers
like they were armadillos....thus if you
have a mad man on you, just relax...dont
panic, and just run to a guard, and you
will be fine.

I ran to the guards with a madman kicking the living sheets out of me, and the guards just watched (like my old P.E. teacher) as I died beneath a hail of blows. Scum. Sub-human scum.

Beg to differ, but not once has a guard aided me when i was being attacked by a madmen.

A lot of the time these guys have water on them: indispensable if you are of an evil pursuasion.

Be warned. The Guards will not jump in and help with these guys if you run to them.

If you are a rogue and are in need of drink, you can pick pocket water flasks off these guys, I do it all the time =)

I've noticed these also seem to have classes. Some attack with "Madman strikes you for x damage", meaning those are monks, and some cast ignite, whirling wind and burst of fire, meaning those are druids. Possibly some other classes, I dunno. Though for some reason, the druid madman attacked me, and wouldn't attack anyone else, even though a level 19 was hitting it. The madmen might have something against their own classes....

These guys also drop stamina earrings plus 2 also pretty strong magic for thier level
