Does this ring's damage shield stack with the 10th damage shield? ... so I can wield the 9th and 10th at the same time .. or is that not even an option
You dont get a ring for Vindis head, you get gloves of earthcrafting. And yeah the dmg shield on this ring stack both with the gloves.. and the druid coat line of spells.
You could probably duo the plate cycle with a necro and cleric. My friends and I have done it with just 3 (ranger, chanter, cleric) and we breezed through it. Im pretty sure that you could get a necro and cleric down there and they would be okay.
For Damage Shields there are basically two types. "Personal" and "General". Personal ones are the self-only Coat series Rang/Dru get, Call of Earth, O`Keil's, and Shaman Potion. General are all others: Thorns, Mage DS, Banshee Aura. The ring is Personal type. You are allowed one Personal and one General Damage Shield without using Bard stacking tricks.
So for general usage, this WILL stack with Thorns, Mage, NEC/SK Damage shields, but not Shamen Potions or other minor personal DSs.
Actually there are 3 kinds of damage shields. You have self-only dmg shields, alternate effect damage shields, and general damage shields. Self only would be like Thorncoat, spikecoat, ect. stuff you can ONLY cast on yourself. Alternate effect damage shields are ones you can cast on others, but there main perpose is not the damage shield (example is CoE, its purpose is ac buff, or force of nature, its purpose is atk/regen buff, yet these both get an added side bonus of a dmg shield, thus they won't stack under most instances), with the exception of potions, which are considered alternate effect w/o an alter. purpose. Then you have general damage shields, which are the damage shields ONLY meant as damage shields (i.e. shield of barbs, mage line, ect).
This is an alternate effect damage shield. Yes, it only is a damage shield at this ring, BUT the 10th ring is the upgraded version of the spell, which has atk, and regen.
This all becomes even more confusing when you throw in the buff Warder's Protection. Warder's protection is a buff that incorporates all of the best (one that overwright the others) level 50+ ranger spells. WP does however lower the overall effect of the spells (meaning that thorncoat isn't quite as powerful in WP then alone). As with this though, the damage shield on it is ONLY our level 56 (? i think thats when we get it) damage shield, allowing us to add an alternate effect damage shield buff. This is limited however, you can not use a buff that was already incorporated into WP. So no CoE, you can however use this ring or FoN (force of nature) or a potion damage shield. Each has its advantages and dis advantages alot depending on zone and what ring you have, and what type of mobs your fighting.
All of this is w/o bard damage shield, as far as I know it stacks w/ all of these above.
Actually, the Mage line is not JUST a damage shield. Theirs also includes an additional fire resist buff component. Other than the false information, your post was very informative.
Stacking also gets messy when you deal with Warder's Protection. But saying that I did not have WP I could stack COE or things, my personal shield, and then a mag/dru DS, so that makes three, oh then bard stacks with that.
My wife has a Girdle of Living Thorns from Tunare. The Spikecoat effect she can activate stacks with both the Coldain ring DS and my druid's Shield of Blades. So you can have up to 3 DS up without the Bard Bracer stack.
Actually, that is not entirely true. I play a level 57 ranger, and I normally have Call of Earth as well as Spikecoat up at all times. I cannot cast CoE over the top of the ring shield; apparently the 8 point shield of the ring makes it take precedence over the the 4 point shield from the spell.
Stacks with level 56 "personal" druid spell Bladecoat (6 DS, +38 AC). Have not tried any of the other Coat spells on it but I'm sure they should still work.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Oct 25 2001 at 9:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Stacks with all other damage shields. On my level 60 druid, I have a 46 point DS.. But this ring could only help a druid thorns powerlevel. :)
Doesnt stack with the ranger spell, Call of the Earth which is round 20ac & a 4point dmg shield. Havent found anything else so far that it doesnt stack with.....
bleh 50 points, what mage / druid ds is 33, bard DS is around 40 ish itself with puretone and the two ds songs they have with this nad the shaman DS if it stacks. and Wiz DS plus singing steel bracer stacked. i have no doubt you could get above 100 DS.but then again you would have no HP buffs so you would die faster than normal
It may be because by the date of these posts, all expansions were not released, but every one of you failed to mention Cleric Reverse DS. Sistily listed enough to make a 146pt DS, but did not include Mark of Retribution (lvl 54, 15pt reverse DS) or the brand new Mark of the Righteous (lvl 65, 34pt reverse DS) that clerics can cast, which stacks on top of all the ones all of you have listed.
