For this lvl u get really good item for a caster. On Xegony cave bat lord drops this pretty rare... And he spawns once an hours. Really enoying. So after u killed him clock it and go do something else. Never met anyone camped him... So... It should not be to dangerous leave him. If you cant invis u pretty screwed if u not a high lvl as the mob on the way will eat u alive. was a wiz lvl 20 with a shaman lvl 19. Think we chould have killed at least twiuce at a time. Well con yellow to my lvl 20. Gave about an blue exp... So its good. I say kill clock go back...

It never ceases to amaze at the amount of Shank hate out there. I have played a decent amount on Vallon, and they are one of the few guilds that I have seen that actually follow the way the server was set up. When I play a human race I cheer them on and try to help in killing one of the other races, when I play as one of the other races, I try my best to kill them, along with any other race. I have yet to see an outright malicious act by one of their members, and I have never seen them corpse camping, bind rushing, or other acts evil acts that seem to fill the PvP servers. I have heard the complaints from many about them, and have even been in groups, where the majority of the group (we were all shorties) were killed by a couple of shanks. I enjoyed myself immensely, as this was why I play on Vallon at times instead of one of the “care bear” servers. One of my group mates who was one of the first to die then started making all sorts of accusations about the shanks that weren’t true. When I asked him about it, he basically said that he hated the Shanks and it didn’t matter if they did what he said or not. Such immaturity prompted me to quickly leave that group. Shanks have their own set of honor, and from what I have seen stick to their own rules. Vallon is a race war server, not a good vs. evil server. People shouldn’t be upset when certain groups play that way, and play that way well, causing lots of death for people playing other races. If you don’t like it, go back to one of the “Care Bear” servers.

Geez I post a big long honkin thing and then I don't even answer your question (sigh, sorry). You asked HOW do you identify.
1) If you are one of the classes that can cast identify (or own a Silvery Mask), hold the item in question in your hand (the same way as if you just picked it up but haven't put it anywhere yet)... then cast Identify. You'll get a message onscreen (in the chat box) saying "such and such identifies as a so and so")
2) If you are not one of the classes that can identify and do not own an identify item... hold the item in your hand and ask someone to cast Identify upon you. You'll get the same message.
Identify has been so handy in my adventures that I bought a "Silvery Mask" (or "Silver Mask"? bah, my memory fails me right now), which comes with this spell built in. Very handy for my ranger, who enjoys hunting named wurms in the Burning Woods for the components necessary for Wurmslayer (which keeps me going financially). The three components for Wurmslayer are three dragon scales. These three dragon scales look identical, and if you don't do the quest all at once (which I rarely, if ever, do), it gets easy to forget which came from where. Identify and >voila< I know exactly where the item came from, and which ones are left to get.
Same holds true in my younger days of ranging. Back when I needed Runes of Ivy for various quests (mainly the Ivy Etched armor quests). Well, there's a few of these too, and they also look identical, so cast identify and >voila< I now know what's left. Sure beats guessing, travelling to the wrong side of the world for the wrong component, and so forth.
My chanter, meanwhile, is *constantly* (well, ok, not like every minute, but maybe once a week or so) asked to identify something for somebody. Some items are duds but *look* like the component necessary in a quest. I just got asked this week to identify a nut, I think. Had it identified as a "living nut" (or something like this), it would have been the right one for this guy's quest. As it turned out it was just a "nut". Good info to know.
Anyway, Identify is mainly for the questers. I wasn't a quester until well into my Ranger life. Now that I see the rewards of questing, and have gotten over the whole "dang that's too hard" mentality, ID is a fantastic spell to have.
Identity is cast by (correct me if I'm wrong) enchanters only I believe, and I have no idea what level they get it at. Just hold the item in your mouse clicker, and have them target you, and cast the spell. The name will appear in the main view screen for a few seconds.
I've always found that for bards, this song is nearly worthless though, there aren't enough times when identifying things comes in handy, so far, the only thing WORTH wasting my time to mem song is the coins for nostrolo's tambourine, but I'm still young, so yeah...
Dillard Spyritchanter, Bard of Mithaniel Marr. "Strength and Honor."
If you give the hat to Azzar he gives you a 2ac 2int/agil/dex belt. and gives another quest saying he will make you your own hat if your bring him gold thread, an imbued amber, and the pelt of a feared creature. i couldnt get any info about the creature. but i am hoping he means the pelt off of the mighty bear paw in warrens. i will know once i can buy a imbued amber )
Believe me, when you pull a yellow con for the group, have a while to kill it etc, and all it drops is this crappy hat, i'd say that that was pretty damn horrible :)
I've heard this drops of the Cave Bat Lord. Supposedly you give this back to Azzar in the gallery of rooms above the newbie zone and you get a nice piece of head armor in return.
Cool wondered what it was for. We were auctioning in zone to see if any CT worshippers would want to come down to pick it up, but they were all to low to get into the throneroom where we pulled the Cave bat lord.
Will have to make a lowbie to get the hat and fight the bat lord near the zone. Would like to see what the Reward is.
