Bought for 600pp last night for my Rogue Alt's back.

Just bought this shield in Bazaar for a cool 400pp. MUCH nicer than my Fireclaw Carapace, with an AC boost of 11. Now to find a decent pair of gloves....

I know this sounds n00b-ish but, why's this shield so expensive? for example, when compared to the 20-50pp chitin shell shield (ac 15 10 sv poison), it only has 4 more ac, 10 in a different resist, and 3k in price. so why's it so darn expensive? I know it drops in a higher level zone (understatement of the year...) and FR is somewhat more usefle tham PR (unless you're fighting shammie mobs). That in consideration, i's probably pay not more than 2 or 300 pp for it...

EQPyro, if you notice above it states that it may also be worn on the back. Any higher AC items (for the back slot) are MUCH higher price.

1.Merchants will not pay for this item.
2.If identified its a : Dragonbone Shield.
Smells quest all over this and cant be a bad reward if its solved cuz you probably have to turn this item in to someone and its kinda great in itself.

I have this on my Iksar Warrior...and yes, it is back/second slot. So it goes VERY nice on the back.

What is this item used in Lore for? What quest?
P.S. On the Vazaelle server this shield sells for 10k. However I have been trying to lower the price just to sell the shield and get it out of my inventory. Not to mention I could use the plat.

not all lore items are involved in quest, actually many arent, they are just anti-pharmable to become uber rich imo... still its not in a quest )

FYI - Looks like a shield, but a ranger in my guild got one and she said it was back slot only

Mine says "Secondary Back" on it. I would not use it as a shield, since the character is a ranger, but it can be equipped there.

come on look it have 4 more ac then the Verm tunic
and sence now adays the only way a druid get exp is if he solo cause no one ever wants a druid in their drop druids sure need the ac )

I've got to admit I'm a little upset about this. This item can be worn by small/medium races. One of the benefits of being a barbarian is supposed to be the ability to wear medium or large armor. Therefore I would think that barbarians could wear this shield/cloak.

you cant bash with it, so it isnt exactly a great shield, but the 19ac for a back slot is pretty nice for tanks

Looks like one of Velious item designers is a fan of cloak/shield item combos... first Lodizal Shell Shield, not this...

You know, any warrior useable or paladin useable shield should be back equipable as in mythology thats where they were stored and worn during travel to help protect from arrow attacks from the rear. I am a little miffed as an Ogre warrior that we have to go to ToV to get something similar to this whereas any dwarf can just drop 7k and get a 25 effectual AC boost.

The one that started it off was the Aegis of Life for clerics and paladins. Verant accidently let it be used in the back slot and afterwards they didn't change it saying that one would be able to wear some shields across their back
