This is an ancient dragon burial ground located deep beneath the frozen tundra of Velious. The surface is overrun by phase spiders and occupied by a few excavation crews.

The tunnels that run below the necropolis are occupied by two clans of rats which do battle with one another. You must beware the numerous traps in these tunnels, the occasional appearances of undead dragon constructs, and the giant bats that flutter about and assist any of the rats being attacked.

Lurking within the Chetari tunnels is the black dragon, Zlandicar, whose guarded lair sits towards the end of the tunnel system.

Ones I've been able to find so far. There another one in the entrance to the tunnel system that spawns spiders but haven't been able to find it now that I'm looking for it.

Ran here the other night, and not being in a guild, it is a really long, but somewhat fun walk.

Only because, back in the day with no maps, and druid's were the only way around, I would spend hours getting around, and would hate it.

Now all these goofy ways of gettin around exist, so an occasional trip to the past never hurts :)

ive been in this zone quite a bit in the past couple of months on BB, and my grp has been the only ones in there playing while i was in he zone...everyone got their gears and aug and got the hell outta there...however..i so see ppl looking for teleports to this zone from time to time during the day...so it must not toally be deserted

Decided to go here again last night

After not comming in many years.

Remembering as I Went there, and while i was there, how much I disliked the place before.

Immediatly as you zone in, there are the orriginal spiders that are green or grey to 60, some light blues, and the nice bard epic mobs that are just hanging about, which for a two-boxer, is quite a trial on the senses. They are decent XP, yet no cash or items. =/

Soo I went on to hit up the Chetari. After a few kills I thought to myself "I remember there being this little swarm of nasty buggers that would come by, and pwn you, maybe the took them out." On my next pull, they of course arrived in force, 5 of them or perhaps 4, yet they were enough to take out my 60 SK and my 68 sham Q.Q .

Word to the wise, be careful comming here, this place is still as nasty as it used to be find youself a nice safe spot ( I know there is one in there somewhere, I just dont remember where ) get your gears and bolt, the XP is not worth the risk.

(Also the journey is somewhat hazardous)

This zone really doesnt have that long of a walk with the guild teleporter. Even going through sirens Grotto isnt that difficult if you have someone who knows the way show you, just would get my swimming skill up before i tried.

There are a few spots throughout the zone. They are triggered from stepping on them. Look for bones sticking up from the ground, usually like 2 or 3 rib bones, not the ones you usually see the diggers standing arounf.
Only ones I can think of off-hand, is along the left wall, past Jaled Dar's room, heading to the back.
Another being down in the rat tunnels on the way to Zlandicar's lair.

They have a zone-wide agro too. That, or just really really really huge agro range.

Does anybody know where the exact groundspawn for the Bone Caller Halloween Quest "dragon rib" in Dragon Necropolis is ? It should be around the entrance of the Zlandicar Cave but never saw it and the traps make rogue invis or dru invis a joke. Sometimes i have the feeling that the traps simply pop random on your head, regardless on which place you are !

As of 9/16/04 I have noticed several new things at the entrance to dragon necropolis and was wondering if anyone had any information on them. Have found no referances for them on Allkazam. There are now 2 new MOBs that are placed near the Phase spiders near the entrance. An "Excavator Quellin", and a "Mercenary Excavator". Both are yellow con to me at level 59, so I havent tried to pull them. they are not listed in the Beastiary. Also...the Phase spiders are dropping a new item called "spirit-touched phase spider thorax". Its magic/no-drop, but not lore. Got 2 of these in about an hour. No listing of that item here on Allkazam. anyone know what it is for? Thank you :)

ALso, some very mean miniature spiderlings spawned on my dome. killed me quickly because only pet was tanking em. blues to 65 but fastest run speed, and i was misjudging them to be phase spiderlings.

There are three camps of Mercenary Excavators, each with three mobs in. If you kill the Excavators, randomly Excavator Quellin will spawn in their place. Killing Excavator Quellin spawns Tarn Macklin who drop a bone needed to trigger the first big fight for the bard epic 1.5

And these mobs have a respectible aggro radius, so it can be a pain when innocently kiting the spider. Their damage also hurts the unprepared. Luckily the phase spiders wont phase you into them anymore

I zoned in at 52 and started kiting phase spiders here with no key. No key is required for this zone.

There is no key to here... I think.

Or at least I've zoned here at 60, it must have been a long bug for the times I kept zoning in and out of DN, so I think the place requires no key.

I was on the first level and melleed a phase spider and decided that wasn't fun being flung around, so I invised up and went for a scenic tour. The spiders didnt see thru invis (gather shadows) of me a 56 SK. I opened a few of the masoleums and saw nothing but bones, no mobs inside. I went thru the main building that seperates east from west and there was no mob inside. I made my way to the end of the zone, where in a building there is a big pool of bubbling lava. I didn't know if this was the zone to level 2 and reading the Myrist made me think it might be instant death. So how do I get to level 2? Also All the wondering i did I paid no attention to anything save wandering mobs in case my invis broke. I never had a roque, but can anyone else spot traps or do you just trip over them like the mind worms in Akeva? I don't see any maps of traps are there any on level 1? On my way back I did notice that at the end of the center building about 30 tiny spiders (smaller than spiderlings) look like the had come from one of the dragon heads on the wall. Not sure, but they were all lined up like they had come from there. I guess if nothing else I can say I came I killed and lost a party member there, more than I can say for the Plane Of Time! Seems really safe at zone in and invis worked against the spiders which was all I saw.

Before you get to the building to the other side, there is a vault kinda to the left that opens and goes down into the caves.

And at about the halfway down point of the ramp there is a trap, I forget what it spawns but I am thinking it was a construct.

Once on the first landing and after killing to goo looking mobs the tunnel heads west- there is a trap rite where the first landing starts to slant down, 4 or 6 of the lil spider dudes pop. As you continue in this area is heavly trapped, a few one rite next to the other. Without a rogue to disarm OR a chanter (mez/stund I forget what which worked here), you dont stand much of a chance of making it very far in this particular tunnel. The spiders always go for the casters first for the most part.

It spawns alot of BUGS, my raid got hit with about 15 of them. We got thru them all with only one casuality, but OUCH they were a pain.

Don't think Call of the Hero works here. I cast it twice trying to get a necro from a Dragon Construct. Both times it failed, no message, no necro. Necro died...sorta felt bad...wish I had known beforehand. Thanks SOE for informing us mages where CotH fails.

not sure if you know this or not but most summoning spells except succor type ones dont work when you are engaged by a mob so coth would not work. lol only use ive had for it is to get through. sirens grotto on my way to western waste so i can go kill the efreet for its heart. there are other uses bu that the main one ive used it for

Just to let ya know CoTH does work when you are engaged by a mob. Example: when some friends and I fight in WoS CoTH is used quite a bit ...main tank pulls mobs and on the way back gets adds , he then engages combat with them and mage CoTHs him and boom he is right at our mage's feet safe and sound and no aggro...just some facts. thx all and be well 8 )

Last night, my guild was in the Chetari section killing rats, etc for weapons and gems. We got a drop off of a chetari runemaster (only one we saw all night) that was a Golden Dragon Claw Lore No Drop. We could not find out any info on it so I went ahead and looted it for further research. Anyone know what this is for?

Just a few questions. Is it possible to get into a pick up group here or is it mostly for raids only? If so would a 53 warrior be able to get a group? How often do the weapons such as crafted velium warsword etc. drop and how hard are the mobs that drop them? Thanks in advance.

IMHO there is about 0 chance you will find a pickup group there on most servers because sane people dont want to go there. There is a few insane who like the place but these put their limits to 55+ when going there for good reason. I saw the best groups getting wiped there within a few seconds to mistakes, this zone isnt very tolerant with them.

So my advice to you would be, go to OS and HS and keep it at that, you do NOT want a pickup group in DN.

As for the droprate of stuff, its OK for the quality, nothing is very common but you get nice **** so its worth the effort. As for the mobs, you have to kill rats for it, cannot really relate their difficulty they spawn in all different kinds, just melee them down and watch that they dont gate on you.

Another nice feature of this zone which you should pay attention is the traps, especially dragon construct traps which once spawned stay up for 24+ hours unless killed which can make for VERY unpleasant times (just logged from a raid where we were jumped by 5 of them while setting up, not fun).

I was wondering, I'm interested in doing a raid in this zone, say i had about 18-20 people lvl 47 plus, (most are lvl 50 plus but there are a few that are in the 40's) all we want to do is hunt the rats, is that possible, we do have a high rogue and a high chanter both 56+ along with a little lower lvl chanters. Anyone have any ideas how we would make out?

IMHO bad idea to do, the levels in general seem to low and unless you can be sure that this group works together in an organised fashion leave it be and concentrate on something which promises a lot more success like Naggy / Vox raids. Honestly I may be biased because I hate the zone but I dont think anyone sub 55 will have much fun in DN.

Your lower levels for example will very much enjoy swarming beetles killing them in a few seconds, then you have to rez them, rebuff etc all the while in the open, not good IMHO.
