I started hunting the sirens this morning with my 65clr, found the fin in 1hour, the heart on the next kill, and the tongue 3 hours after that.
So 4 hours start to finish was way faster than I expected from reading these posts!
I logged my shaman to loot each drop and she is quite pleased with the new freedom to Canni until her heart's content.

Just got mine today. Went here 2 times and killed about 30 or so, got fin on 3rd kill and heart on 6th or 7th. Came back today with Druid friend and got the tongue. Lots of luck to thers questing this item. Much easier with grp and found drops more common than Kiki's Recipe Book. One happy Nec here and fits nice with my Zheart for regen. Am ready for Arch Lich now....:P
There is no way this thing is common. I have killed almost 200 potameids and have found 2 hearts, 2 tongues and no fin! By comparisson, my main has Kiki's recipe book, as does my cleric, enchanter, necro, and wizard. Plus, I have 10 pieces of succulent meat in the bank in case anyone wants to buy the mq.

been hunting an entrapped potameid for two whole days, killed maybe 300... seen only 1 heart and 2 fin.
nowhere near worth the effort for me. only plus side to hunting the potameids is that you will cause the named to spawn (duenki or something like that) which drops the abysmal seaweed gloves which sell for about 8k on Emarr (she has drop rate of about 70-80% and you can make her spawn as much as 4 times in an hour or as low as once ever three hours).

Honestly, from the point of view of a 60th shaman and a 59th Cleric I can say that the Tae EW Shield, https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=19294, is preferable statwise and is easier to come by. Since I 2box both toons I just cast regrowth which is plus 15 to regen. Having the additional 3 to regen wouldnt mean all that much to me and I would hate to lose the stats I am getting now. Just my 2cp
While you do make a valid point regarding the stats of the Tae Ew Shield, the biggest factor for some to keep in mind is that the Tae Ew is Required Level 51, while this one is only 45. I'm not saying that this one is any easier to obtain and very well could be more difficult at 45. But, the difference of 6 levels in being able to use this shield could indeed make the extra effort worth it for some.
It has regen 3, it's meant for people without insanely great equipment and at least lvl 45. Speaking as a person with a necro, he would be missing his left nut had it been necessary in attaining this shield or maybe the left nut of the most recent cragwalker he had recently defeated...

I have been hunting these for a long while and have only had the tounge drop had to quite for a bit because I got burnt out on hunting them.I did however get the Talisman of the Spirtseer neck piece drop off one which was real nice since on Tarew Marr they go for about 100k. They can be tough to pull without getting a bunch of fish hitting you or other mobs.I marked a spot on my map where I knew they hung around at and pulled back from there to try and avoid getting raped by the other mobs.

This shield looks like an Ornate Rune Shield.

The key is to pull then to the top of water and let them chase you to shore. Far less adds this way.
I picked a spot near the middle of the ocean and pulled from there each time. LEvitate on top of water and look down to spot them.

Can anyone confirm what this shield graphic looks like? I would hate to quest for it and it turn out to be a standard qeynos kite shield.
Oh yes, because a qeynos kite shield with regen 3 and a heap of stats and AC just wouldn't be worth getting, would it?

Question, why would any dual wielding class (especially non-tanking ones) ever equip a shield?
Doubt even a warrior would want this other than during downtime to get a few more hp back, before removing it for a weapon when the fighting starts again.

Ranger with a bow... thier melee weapons are suddenly just stat items.

Because if you are like me, A RANGER..this shield may not be used during combat but, have you ever seen our heals. Ya, we have regen and this on top of it would really reduce downtime. IF you are a solo'ing ranger like me.

They prolly just want it for looks, then itll be bagged. Just like when they loot the Greatstaff of the Four Winds, how often you gonna see a ranger with a 2hb equipped, most of the time they bow. Its just something dumb people do to deprive other classes that need the items more.

Very simple, for the regen.....but you dont haft to wear it in battle, just wear it when not in battle for regen effects then switch to weapon during battle.

Add a wisdom aug to it, think you can get a +10 wis aug for adventure points, granted would be 15 wis vs 20 wis, but you get the regen.

Aye, not too bad for a shaman, especially if you can't use a Tae Ew Shield (or better) yet. Stats are pretty solid, regen is always a nice bonus, but a smidge low on AC when you get up in levels.
I can see a necro really liking this item though.
