You say, 'Hail, Lorri Stonesong'

Lorri Stonesong says 'Ahh! It is wonderful to see so many eager to explore this new land and help the Brotherhood! Please, make yourself at home. Feel free to let me know if you are interested in doing some [siren hunting]!'

You say, 'What siren hunting?'

Lorri Stonesong says 'Well, there seems to be a strange form of siren that resides off the coast of this place. They seem similar to the potameids that can be found in the waters of Jaggedpine. These seem to be exceptionally fierce, however. Quite nasty! We discovered them performing the most heinous deeds to those caught unaware. They really are a [menace].'

You say, 'What menace?'

Lorri Stonesong says 'Oh, you really don't want to trouble yourself with their perversions. You would do us a great favor by hunting them if you are so inclined. In fact, I am almost certain that we would [reward] such efforts.'

You say, 'What reward?'

Lorri Stonesong chuckles. 'I have a lovely shield laying around! If you are the sort that can use one at all, you may like it. Now if you really want to set out to exterminate some, I would advise being careful. They undoubtedly can see much more efficiently in the water than you, not to mention that they are in their natural habitat. Bring me back a siren tongue, fin, and heart and perhaps we can reward you.'

Lorri Stonesong says 'Thank you very much! Here is that shield I promised you.'

You gain experience!

There is no faction hit.

With my level 36 necro I collected and turned in the peices. This quest took me 200+ kills to complete, and I recieved 1 heart, 2 fin, 1 tongue during that time. They are very rare drops.

Here is how I am killing the mobs. I swim around the top of the water at the level where the view is clear. This way i can spot a potameid easily. I then immediately send my pet in. I wait until it has a little bit of agro then I slow. When the mob is at around 80% health I will throw on blood of saryn. When that runs out i throw on anthema to finish the mob off. I hardly get adds but with slow the mobs a a piece of cake. Never sid during the fight and make sure the pet has at least 2 crap weapons (i use mage summons)

For some reason a siren was really close to the wayfarer camp underwater and I killed it and the heart dropped. First kill I ever did on them and it made me look up this quest. I swear they have some NICE items for lvl 45 people in natimbi. Now if I can only get the item in Crypt of Decay that has affliction haste 4 I can free up my secondary for the shield...

I am a 65 necro and I've been soloing the Siren's by fear kiting them in the water. I have not experienced any adds from any of the other mobs, while doing this.

I will say that, the heart must be the rarest drop, I've killed about 50 of these mobs, and with the help of a 63 druid killed the name potemeid about 5 times as well, so far I've gotten 3 fin drops, 1 tongue drop, 3 Barnacle-Studded Bracers, 1 Cockeshell Girdle, 1 Abysmal Seaweed Wraps, but no heart.

My experience with pulling the Sirens to the beach was not successful, I had problems casting on them for some reason (interupts aside). It was much easier for me to fear kite them in the water where I found them, regardless of shallow or deep side. Not sure if my server is set differently for aggro then other servers or if the fact that I'm a Gnome makes a difference for "adds," but my advice for 65 necros is to fear kite in the water where you find them. GL

ps. get a tracker if you can, will save you alot of time.

I had no trouble finding the heart. In fact, I got 3 heats to drop in a matter of 60 mins.

The Fin has been elusive for me thus far.....

I have an easy way to do quest(65 necro here). The first thing you need to do is go out into the ocean and find where there is a drop off into deeper water. It is a shelf that runs almost the entire way across the ocean. On one side of shelf it is safe (no mobs),on the other side various mobs spawn including the mob you need (the potameid)the safe side is the side that is in shallow water.Basiclly what you need is DMF up and invis.Go up to the edge of water and look down on the shelf edge.Find a potameid and target it,make sure it is close to the shelf line and no other mobs are around it.Swim below water and snare it,then lead it back to the safe side of shelf and root cook it.I wouldent bother to run up on the water because these things will warp to you.I would say it takes some time to collect all 3 parts but its a great item and worth your time.

The shield looks like an ornate rune shield graphic. I will tell you how I did this without a tracker on my 55 necro.

Straight across from the magus camp at the bottom of the hill is where pulled the mobs to. There is a large rock along the shorline over the hill you can pull to and use as a reference.

Keep levitate fresh, and head Southwest from the rock. I jammed autotarget until I got some sea mobs targeted. Once targeted, you can levitate at a certain spot right at top of of water and look down to see everything clearly.

Look around and keep autotargeting till you see a potameid. Pull with splurt and stay on top of water. Head back to the rock (NEast) and pull the potameid over the hill to your camp.

Make sure you dont outrun it, as you will move faster above water than it can swim (with sow/jboots). Keep casting a quick spell while running to make sure it is still in range.

It took me about a week of off and on hunting but I finally got it. Great experience and a nice item with regen. Works great paired with a Z Heart for necros.

Once you find the general area of the mobs, mark your ingame map so you can return there. The mobs are not static, but with the method above you should be able to find them without a tracker.

I tried out the tactic above, and it failed. This is because of the 'warping' that was introduced last patch, which I believe was introduced to prevent mobs from sticking on geometry. Now, the potameids will warp on top of you. I couldn't keep ahead of them consistently even using fabled Jboots.

Might be possible to go to the bottom and pull and kill them.

The secret to that tactic is the levitate. I am a 63 Druid and since I have tracking I just use improved superior camo (so it is a bit easier for me) and dive down into the water after them. after pulling them with a DOT I immediately head above water, and I can tell you that if my SOE runs out I have a very tense time trying to make it to shore, but if I am smart and make sure it isn't going to run out half way throught the pull I pop up above the water and follow the same tactic of casting to see that they are in range and they never lay a hand(fin?) on me :) So the secret is to have levi and it works as advertised.

should be easily soloable for you, im a 55 druid and i can single pull them to the shallow area and root/rot them. just be sure to use a snare dot towards the end so that they cant run on you.

Well lets see I can give you an opinon based on a 65 Enc view. I use a DC pet and the Pet can take them fairly easily. They range from LTB to DKB, I dont think I have seen a green yet. They hit in the 200's, like most other things in Natimbi. The only problems that I have had are the amount of adds and finding them. To find them I use the "pet guard" trick but it does not always bring me to them but to something like a reef crustation, squidy, or fish. The adds seem to come out of nowhere and the sirens have a decent agro range. They also run at about 20%. So if you are killing a non-siren, by the time the fight is over you will probably have a siren trying to kill you =)

i've killed pretty close to 100 of these so far. i've seen 2 hearts and 1 fin drop but no tongue yet. i knew the tongue would be pretty rare considering it's also used for another quest in Abysmal Sea.

They're out there in the deeps. You will need tracking to find them as they wander.
sirens got no parts
# Feb 13 2004 at 2:38 PM Rating: Default
I've killed several dozens of these sirens and not gotten any parts yet. Either the drop table is incomplete or these parts are *much* more rare than the other quests in this zone. But it is nice and quiet down there.
