After swarming Siren's Grotto a few times and not getting one hair that I needed I decided to look at these comments, and some others said goto CS and kill the Siren for a quicker loot. They were right about 5-8 kills in one dropped on the North side of SS. Good looks!

Got one off "a siren seductress". Might want to add to the list from Cobalt Scar. This has been mentioned before on this page.

3 sirens attacked me just outside Skyshrine, got Siren Hair. Dunno if this place is better than others, but that siren won't seduce too many men without hair.

Dont waste your time in SG, farm these in CS. I cleared SG four or five times in the main Siren locations and only the droppable hair dropped. I went to CS and got the correct no drop in one siren clear.

I spent 4 hours in CS and got 8 hairs. I got 5 from enticers, 2 from enchantresses and 1 from a seductress. I didnt bother using the mezz and mana drain strategy. I made a pet and buffed it with NDT and haste. I pulled a siren with psychosis and let pet finish it off while I nuked some more. Not once did they charm my pet. No need to mana drain since nothing stuck on me.

I killed the sirens at the SS tower and SG entrance. There is also another spot in the middle of the bay, where sirens spawn, just north of the halfway point between the sirens near the SS tower and the sirens near the SG entrance. There is a rock on the bottom of the ocean where 4 sirens will spawn. The rock is west of the large shipwreck in the middle of the bay. There is also 1 that spawned by itself east and slightly north of the rock

If you start at the SG entrance and work your way down to the SS tower area you can go back to SG entrance before the sirens there respawn. Depending on how fast you kill them of course.

These are easy for enchanters. Mezz them, mana drain them with your favorite mana drain spell, hit them with torment of scio and nuke till theyre dead. My MR is 240 unbuffed so nothing hit me. They do dispell your buffs though so load up on fakes before you get good ones. I got 2 of these in 1 hour both from enticers. I killed a bunch of the other ones and they didnt drop any hairs.

Okay, I've tried this at a couple levels, and it's only now really effective at 56. If you have higher MR than me (mine's crap), then you could probably do this sooner. Anyway, the point where three spawn together near the skyshrine zone... just use harmony of nature on two, and put swarm of pain and drones of doom on the one you want to pull.

Now run back to the skyshrine ramp and sit on the first platform, facing towards the siren. She'll have a hard time with the pathing and struggle up the hill. She probably won't get within casting distance of you until your dots wear off; at this point snare her, and put the dots right back on. this way if you get mezzed, she's still getting damaged. keep yourself with levitate, because if she fears you and you go nuts around here without lev... could be a disaster.

oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that i got mine off a siren enticer who was green to me (i clarify because once in a while there was a lt blue one).

to get to cobalt scar without a porter...
from PoK take the Great Divide stone and go West to the stream, follow it all the way to the south of the zone... you should see a little castle in the water, click it... you are now in Plane of Mischief, start clicking trees between the zone in and the castle, one of them will port you to Cobalt Scar in the middle of the lake...
Cleric Solo
# Jan 25 2004 at 11:05 PM Rating: Decent
I was able to solo any thing "siren" with my 57 Cleric. Simply magic and cold resisted myself and hit em with nuke. No need to bother rooting. They rarely hit you as they spend most of their time trying to cast on you, which rarely goes through.

Worked for me, hope it works for you.
getting hairs : my experience

with my 52 wizzie, I was able to single-pull each of the sirens at the far end of CS (by the Skyshrine tower). my gear's not that great, but with 200pp worth of Bazaar gear and a gift to my friendly neighborhood Phantasmist, I was able to get my MR to 170, which allowed me to resist easily 99% of all their spells. (at 150MR, I resisted 85-95%)

after that, it's just root, nuke, nuke, nuke, rinse, repeat. the one caveat I have for you is to avoid the underwater ones like the plague unless (a) you have an EB item, and (b) your swimming is 200. I was bored waiting for the long respawn (and no wyverns were available) so I thought I'd pull the 2 underwater sirens, who proceeded to break root, swim within melee range and pound me to a little blue stain. ah, well =)

as for the drops, I've gotten one hair so far, off an Enticer.

After killing about 40 sirens, I got both of my hairs from the "siren enchantress" type (the toughest type of siren by far). Might be coincidence but for what it's worth...
Easy
# Sep 29 2003 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
A 55 necro and a 57 druid can do this no problem. Kept MR at 150, nuked, and used Harmony to break up the spawn. Piece of cake, and we got 6 hairs to drop in an hour.
Easy Kills
# Jul 19 2003 at 7:56 AM Rating: Good
While trying for my shawl I found an easy way to hold the camp near the Skyshrine tower. This is easier with DMF or SoE...near the wyvern at the point just look over the edge of the cliff and you will see a single spawn on the left and 3 on the right. It is much easier doing just the single but it takes forever to get the hair. Just terror, fear and dark/snare then send pet and a DoT or 2. You may have to re-fear but it is not always needed. This keeps the mobs from even getting a spell off. The tricky part is the 3 spawn. From the cliff you will see one on the upper left, near middle and upper right. Using the same spells start with the middle. This shouldn't pull the others. The upper right next the the upper left...just rinse and repeat til you have that stupid shawl... *sigh*

I've been taking these down 4 at a time with a 54 druid. No big deal, as long as you keep that Magic Resist up.

There are 2 spawn points for Siren's in CS that I have found:

1) 4 guarding the entrance to the mouth of the underwater tunnel that is the zone point for Siren's Grotto. loc: +1130, +1580.

2) 3 swimming around a rock. loc: +530, +1400.

3) One all by her lonesome somwhere between the 2 shipwrecks.

Soloing Sirens
# May 11 2003 at 6:29 PM Rating: Decent
I can solo these at 55 without too much downtime or risk.
First i invis and swim close to tag one then i swim away to get out of range from the others. That way i dont get any adds when i root-dot it. They still cast spells like crazy but i resist about 95% with only 121 MR

I can solo like 3 at a time as a 55 druid. Just focus on getting magic resist as high as possible and you will resist most, if not all, of their spells. Mine is at 190 or so. Of course, I try to root them and single them out for the kill rather than have 3 casting on me at once. Also, there is a roaming bulark sp?, that you have to watch out for. One siren is deep underwater and out from the coast. I suggest single pulling that one first. The other 3 (i think) are on the coast and its hard to single pull them. Anyways, i've killed several and no hair has dropped. I thought I got lucky and bought 2 "locks of siren hair" in the bazaar, but now I realize, thats not the right item.

Good luck,

Rottenoak

OK, so I was told initially that you need a good strong group to kill these sirens... Well after several rounds of getting my "good strong group" wiped out, they all left except my lvl 52 bard (luv ya Lutrum!) and we realized it was easier for just the two of us. And 3 shawl fails later we have a pretty good system worked out. Heres what we do:

I sit on the beach (I found that hiding behind a big rock seems to help this cleric avoid aggro... dont ask me why, but i feel safer anyways) and he goes over the water around the bulthars to tag the sirens. With our combined MRs, he resists around 95pct of their spells. By the time they get back to the beach they have usually run oom from chain casting and they are an easy kill. Also, when he does get charmed he runs up the hill and attacks the druids up top hunting wyverns(stupid soloable classes deserve a little extra aggro.......=P) which leaves me alive and safe to rezz if necessary. And if you have trouble finding a bard to help you out, we have picked up about one conch shell horn for every 2 or 3 hairs, so they will most likely get a nice little instrument by the time you are done. Hope this helps someone :)

Namene Pineaway, 51 cleric

PS a bard MAY be able to solo them for the other quest, but their nukes seem to land more often than other spells, especially when we get two, so he often needs a heal or two mid fight... go together, share the love

I have been soloing these (as a bard) from level 53 but you may be able to earlier. I have tried fighting underwater but I found the lack in manoeuvrability and the sharks adding a liability. I have been pulling to the Sirens Grotto zone, fairly easy to single-pull just by slowly going down the tunnel and waiting for proximity agro. The agro from a long way and the first you will know is when spells hit you(or hopefully you resist them).

I always (unless I was mezzing them) played Psalm of Mystic shielding (Magic Resist) and I did work on getting my MR up with equipment to about 90 before singing. Previously when I tried it was the nukes that hurt. Once the agro’d me I slowly backed up to land until they left the water - there I mezzed them (healed if necessary) and de-buffed to get rid of runes and damage shields. From there I straight meeleed (fear kiting took too long) and mez healed if necessary. Most times I didn't need to mez heal as I could melee the dark blues 50% of the time in one go.

Sometimes 2 came at once - 3 options 1. Charm one to kill the other then zone 2. Charm one to kill other then melee ex-pet 3. Zone and try again. All 3 worked for me.

4 Deaths before trying this tactic, none since, have failed on one combine, and now I'm ready for the next one, wish me luck.
