I was lucky and got a few of the undamaged pelts. I actually made my tunic 2nd of all my armor pieces (gloves and sleeves still not done!). I even got another giant wood spider thorax after I made my first tunic.

My advice is just killing spree Misty Thicket from level 10-12 and you will get most of the drops in the time it takes to ding the two levels. Especially since half the quest mobs give no xp. Newb armor much cooler to have than tutorial gear in my opinion --but the PoK quest chain probably better for most people.

All mossy rat pelts drop from the same mobs - diseased rats. The undamaged pelt was a bit uncommon, bordering on rare. Just keep killing the rats, and one will eventually drop.

It took my baby druid about four hours to complete the set. Mind you, my druid was level 29 at the time and could track.

The easiest components to gather were the mossy rat pelts. They all dropped from diseased rats. You can only find diseased rats in two discrete hunting areas, which happen to be conveniently close to each other. The rats have an intense hatred to outsiders and will agro imediately and en masse, regardless of level. This made it easy to AoE them to death in a very efficient manner.

I gathered all the pelts I needed in about 30 minutes. You will need exactly 2 "mossy rat pelts", 6 "RUINED mossy rat pelts", and 1 "UNDAMAGED mossy rat pelt".

After you get the pelts you need, start killing every spider you can find. The spiderlings and large wood spiders (which look the same) will frequently drop spiderling silk needed to tailor your armor. You need exactly 32 spiderling silks to tailor the 18 silk threads needed for your armor.

Also, the "large" spiders occasionally drop random body parts. You need to collect 2 "large wood spider tarsi", and 2 "large wood spider tibia" for your armor. These are uncommon drops. It took me about an hour to locate and kill enough spiderlings and large wood spiders to gather the components I needed.

Now for the "fun" part: Locating Giant Wood Spiders. Head past the gate to the harder hunting grounds near Runnyeye. Giant wood spiders only spawn in this area.

The most agravating part of this armor quest was locating these stupid spiders, and then waiting for them to drop something useful. I never, ever saw more than three giant spiders on Track at any given time. Mostly, you'd get one on track, with an occasional second one nearby. For about 50% of the time I hunted them, there were NO giant spiders on track at all. You also need to keep an eye out for the guards that may (and will) wander near your spider then KS you.

The Giant spiders drop various body parts needed for different pieces of armor. I got roughly one body part to drop for every five spiders killed. You need 2 hairs, 2 femurs, 2 patellas, and 1 thorax.

I suggest you look for Giant Thicket Rats while searching for Giant wood spiders. You need to loot a Giant Thicket Rat skull for the head piece, so keep an eye out for them as they spawn in the same part of the zone.

The weapon part was the easiest. Rusbek is always there (-980, -2330), and took two nukes to kill him. Large fruit bats are plentiful, and I saw many fruit bat wings dropping.

The armor has a nice green leather look to it - like emerald green Splitpaw armor. The boots (like most halfling boots) had no graphic and just change the color of your hairy feet to green.

I took a screen shot, then put all this junk in the bank.

Just got this tonight on my lvl 10 druid on Xev. I have quested the cap, gloves, bracer, boots, tunic, and the Stormreapers Initiate Scimitar (5 dam. 30 dly. +2 Wisdom). Im only 1 piece short of getting both the sleeves and the legs. Overall these quests are awesome for the effort required.

Once you get the whole set, send in a pic of the armor so we can all see it. The DE armors look cool. If it's leather type hopefully it will be a different color so we dont continue to look like newbie's till we are 55th lvl, LoL.

There will be human and wood elf quests soon enough, give VI time, not all of the newbie quests they've put in are working yet, the dark elf quests from a month ago still all of them aren't working.

They should have had quests like this when the game first came out or something. And why not have stuff for elves. There is no cool newbie quest. I hope you are right about getting these things implemented sometime soon.
Questing is half the fun, but before, quests for stuff you got were trivial and useless and the rewards were no better then what you could have made yourself with like 5 gold and a little patience.

Anyways i'm rambling now.
C'mon Verant, put the other races stuff in.

No, they should not have put anything like this in at the beginning. Some of these newbie armor quest rewards were as good as some higher level dungeon drops in vanilla eq. Why kill dragons when you can just do the noob armor quests and get gear that is just as good? These quests were added as a shortcut to help new players get caught up faster so they wouldn't get frustrated and quit because they were too far behind with little chance of catching up.

Aye I definately agree. I do know they are working on quests for everyone, but considering how often the stuff they put is in broken to begin with, it's probubly best not to rush them. :)
Planes of Power sounds like it will be very quest intensive, for all levels. Hopefully they will continue to do things in keeping with the current needs of players, and make the rewards of these new quests a viable altenative to excessive twinking/camping.

"...and make the rewards of these new quests a viable altenative to excessive twinking/camping."

Absolutely! Why would I want to drag my main across a continent just so I can outfit my new druid with something a little better than the tattered armor he could make. Not only do I get a fun quest, I get good armor, and look good as well!

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 10 2002 at 10:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) where are the WoodElf/Human newbie druid quests? Druid armor sets is EXACTLY what we needed, but only halflings?? They get that stupid cap and anklyte that we can't wear....

Its good to see that EQ is implimenting new newbie quests...these are actually worthwhile. I'd venture that lower level peoples would use this up into the teens
