The evil-aligned Bloodsabers guild makes its home in the catacombs of Qeynos, quite the unwelcoming place for those who come from the city's top side.

The rest of this aqueduct system - half dry, half water submerged - is littered with a variety of creatures from zombies, rats, snakes, and alligators to fish, sharks, and piranhas. Also found here is a band of smugglers, but they stick to the east-northeastern tunnels.

This zone is way above level 12...there are some dk blue cons to a level 12 player but don't go more than 3 feet into the zone....I ran into a bunch of red cons on my level 12 druid and they smacked me in about 2 hits.

Zone Level is more like 15-24....Sent an update to Zam but hasn't been corrected yet.

I was messing around in qeynos and my paladin, seems there is an entrance behind a turret, disguised as part of the town, with a low swim skill, you might drown though.

I have recently been working on the Qeynos Badge series of quests. For the Qeynos Badge of Honor quest you have to go down to the Qeynos Catacombs to kill a shadow knight by the name of Azibelle. Before she spawns you have to kill corrupted guard Helminth. When he spawns, "a necromancer" and a couple of other undead spawns, including "a Rotting Sentry". When you got killed in the sewers by this high level spawn, it was probably because someone had tried to do this quest, was woefully unsuccessful and was too low or too unprepared for the undead that spawned with corrupt Guard Helminth. So don't make the mistake of thinking this zone is too dangerous for newbies...it really isn't. Just sounds like a quest adventure gone wrong. The "a necromancer" was still up and it was just a spot of bad luck. Just FYI, you should be in your high 40s-low 50s to do the Qeynos Badge of Honor as the SK Azibelle conned DB to my 52 ranger. The "a necromancer" and the "a Rotting Sentry" were both green, but fairly high level as they had quite a few hit points (I'm sorry I did not keep track of how many). I hope this helps resolve any confusion over at least a few of the mobs in this zone. Good luck.

I had a problem zoning into the Aquaducts from the entrance under the docks. I swam down and opened the grill, entering the zone line. I was shocked...and horrified to find that somehow I had zone into Akanon the Gnome city! I was freaked! I mean, Akanon isn't even in the same continent! Luckily I was only lvl 5, so I just attacked a near by npc to get back. Needless to say though....I have not used that entry since!

This from the EQ news feed 13th Jan. I drowned trying to get there myself... Fortunately a fast swimming dwarf helped me get my stuff back!

The water entrances in North Qeyons are still open.

Too much drowning citizens on South Qeynos. The Office of the people decided to close some access to the Aqueduct System. The Qeynos Inquirer have some infos.

Dageth Thiglan, former security officer of the Aqueduct System patrol, deny that the access to the underworld of Qeynos was closed because of some "political reasons" (quoted). "If we wanted to close the access to the Qeynos underworld we would have closed all access", he said.

When we asked about the other ways to go to the Aqueduct System, Thiglan refused to detail further. But some shadowy individuals gave us a few hints ("feed the lions" or "they are other places to drown in the north")

That map is actually incorrect for cuber, unless he has 2 spawns. Qubert actually spawns very very close to number 5 on that map... near the frogocks... there is a bloody square spot on the ground...place holder is like a deseased rat, a spider guy, a gel cube and a regular looking rat.

so anyways... I think it might be important to know since thats a great quest. so kill whatever pops at that bloody cube floor spot.

also... cubert and placeholders are about lvl 7 ish. I used the entrance by bank bridge. and the cubert is right there and the guy that takes the dress is top side :) very easy.

Last night I tried to get to the Catacombs from South Qeynos. I found the entrances by the Bank, Magicians Guild and the docks were all closed off. I could only get there from North Q through the hidden entrance by the gate. Anyone else have this experience? Also 4 Specs against 1 cleric = 1 dead cleric... :(

I decided I would try soloing the spectres here. So I found the entrance in the warrior guild and forged afeah. I ran into some guard type guy (light blue to me) that dropped some vendor trash (I never saw the guy until he hit me). Then I turn the corner and I start getting hit with DD spells and I can't see any mobs (it was Chan and Chou Whinstone and they may have invis). So I make a beeline for the zone and I get hit by at least 4 nukes and I drop. My point is that if you think you will be able to zone in and pull spectres here do not go through the warrior guild entrance even thogh it looks like the closest and easiest on the maps.

The lb guy was Argyn Shieldstan and you didnt see him because someone pulled him to the zone - and your entry point is a few feet into the zone so he was behind your back ...
Chan and Chou Whinstone are behind the wall near the Necro Guild Chamber and vendors. They attack when you come into sight of any NPC that's walking the tunnels - and there is a skellie in a corner that probably picked you up and then they attacked through the wall. Grrr - they dropped me once too ...
For soloing spectres it would probably be best to enter through the secret entrance outside the Qeynos walls. You have a clear way until you enter Blood Sabre County. The spectres are the first you meet after a few twists and some sort of hall. At the end of that hall they wait for you. harmony or lull would be nice to single pull them... Haven't tried it yet with my bard. I think i'll wait for a few more levels before i do...

Really mixed messages on this board.

I too entered the aquaducts in front of the bank and followed the "this way" signs looking for the little girl. I'm a level 40 druid with a fishscale earring... or I was until two spectres took me out before I even knew what was happening. Cross your fingers I don't lose my corpse, I just started upgrading my equipment!

Maybe they leave low levels alone?

Nope, they'll eat low levels just the same as high level characters. The only way the spectres leave you alone is if you happen to be in good with the temple of Bertoxxulous, as the spectres are on Bloodsaber faction.

Please help me, I drowned as I was entering the aqueducts. I had entered through the well by the Crow's Nest, and was in the Aqueducts zone. I don't know how to recover the corpse. I tried to enter the same way, but my air was going down fast. Since she is a level 10 with some decent armor, I really want to recover the corpse. How do you loot the corpse under water without drowning again? Can I drag it somehow? I know that there is supposed to be an entrance outside the gate, but I can't find it. I would try to summon it, if I could get close enough. Please let me know what I can do, as I won't play either of my characters until I recover it. Is there a forum for those going through Everquest withdrawal?

Ask a 20+ mage for a waterstone, or a 12+ enchanter for enduring breath. this will allow you to loot and get out with no worries. If you're on the Rallos server, send Zoxxin a tell, he'll help you out.

Type /corpse while near your corpse to move it to the spot where you currently are. You can type /corpse over and over while moving to 'drag' your corpse somewhere you'll have an easier time looting it. You can only drag within the zone though, so don't bother trying to drag it back out of the zone.

what he did not mention was target corpse first then type /corpse range is limited to 50 feet per drag or typing Speed-O method Hot Key the /corpse command then stand on it as you move
or go SHIFT + UP ARROW last command automatically reappears in dialog box release keys hit enter -- repeat. I find the first method the easiest, watch your chat window as long as it is working it will "summoning ------ corpse"

Hmm... where could this possibly take me? Anyone have any ideas as to what this is and where it takes someone?

I think its part of the old Combine empire teleport system located in the Ocean of Tears. Its now working again (as of May 10 2002) and this must be the teleport point for Qeynos.

Note that the system is only one way - so you can't go from here to the Ocean of Tears.

In Timorous Deep, the room is at neg12000, pos4300. And there is no pot to get to Qeynos. Halas Pot is the closest...

The firepot room in TD is PART of the combine travel pot system. The pots in cities all say you need a key to use them. The problem is, nobody has found the key, if one exists, or they are being very closed mothed about what it is.

I did see a post one time where a guy claimed to have a key, but did not post what it was. Hopefully, one day, this will be solved.

It does seem that the Druid Taxi service gets a bit more nerfed with every expansion. And why is it you always hear lots of Druids offering to port for pay, but not Wizards? Is it because Wizards don't port to as many places?

I have hunted the area you speak of, what often happens is if you dont kill the mob quick enough they take to the water and are promptly gobbled up by the parahana (sp?) making them disappear from your target window giving the appearance of them zoning.

My solution for this is based on character being played.

For melee types pull creatures farther away from the one spot they go into the water, giving you more time to kill before they make their *escape*.

For most casters depends on your available spell mix. Some form of root or enduring breath on your pet allowing it to take chase underwater should solve your problem leaving you to take to the water only to see what goodies it dropped.

Well love, I went down there on my own this week and went from the north part to the south without any trouble. Its the east bit near the temple of Bertoxxulous that's very risky.

As a 13th level Wizard there was nothing to trouble me. I guess a 10th level char could solo ok, and maybe a group of 6-8th level chars could have fun, if you don't mind snakes, rats and bugs.

Hope this helps, Bulases. xx

First off, the nesting rat. An easy kill thats worth 3-5 plat. Hes level 5 and drops a plus three charisma neklace, a great way to make some money

The Shady Mercinary: These level 5 characters drop a thick black cape, not sure why its so good, but its only found here.

Cubert: A small gellatinous cube that 1 in 6 times drops a dress that can be turned into Zamel and traded for a plus three intellegence eering.

Injured Rat: Same stats as the nesting rat, only drops an allagators tooth eering.

I think that Nighthawk said it all. Mostly Bloodsable faction, but the whole of this zone is devided into 4 parts. Its bloodsabe, undead and other npc. Its just knowing where to be as far as the section of the zone. and how far to venture into it. I have been here before with a higher char. and It does seem they have added a TON of critters downt here. It can get ugly, It will get ugy. your in a closed area, no help, no close zone, small spaces and a creature every 5 feet. You just have to guage properly. :( but be realistic.

Personally I was here with my alt, and went into the water at the secret wall JUST outside of gate. and It might be an exit but it was not one for me, or at least tonight.

I needed a map, and bad. so I logged and came to get one. This looks to be the best

http://www.allakhazam.com/maps/Qeynos_Sewers_Madwand.htm

as far as the blackness when zoning. I have had the WEIRDEST experience with that. Similar. I was walking in tunnel in EC. towards NRO. It was like I walked right through the zone line without my pc loading. I get further then, what I felt was normal for zone line, There was just a black void there. I have heard horror stories, so I turned around. I did a 180. THEN, walked AWAY from the void, in essence what I thought was AWAY from nro (or where it should have been) and I zoned... <whew> Tripy part was. I zoned INTO NRO. as if the zone worked backwords on the flip side of never never land.

This could be a problem.

Yes, I've had the same problem. I tried three times & each time ended at the bottom of a very deep well. The first two times I died before I could get to the surface. I couldn't get to Cubert going in on the other side of the bank either---I kept ending up in an area I didn't recognize & had to gate out.

I've been here once, with Tat. I wandered around from the newbie area, tried to kill the cubes and couldn't. I was maybe lvl 6 or 7 at the time. I had just gotten some really neat things from another character because I had figured out my way around Qeynos enough to help him out.

So, then on my way to/from the bank, I talk to the man by the bridge and hear about the girl. I think the man conn'd green to me (not sure), so I figured I could handle this. I mean, with some tactic, I should be able to handle the cubes.

So, I go exploring, trying to find the cube with the girl. And I'm my naturally curious self and I keep seeing the writing on the wall saying "This Way", and I'm thinking maybe it is a clue.

So, I keep following the signs, and I step up to this little alcove. There is a "This Way" sign pointing into the wall, so I touch the wall and BAM!!!! out shoots that septic rat or whatever it is diseasing me and biting me for 50,000,000 points. Okay, slight exageration, but I was dead before it completely registered that I had been attacked. I lasted longer when the brownie in Lfay caught me 4 or 5 lvls later!

Needless to say, I could not find my body and lost all the cool stuff. :(

Lesson. Obvious things like "This Way" signs in the sewers and Trails in Lfay are not the clues you are looking for.

If anyone does have any idea where that rat is, I'd like to know. I want to go in about 10 lvls or so and take my vengence.

Thanks

As my fellow Iksar have no doubt found out, travel is extremely difficult. And faction is a pain to raise. I have found that my Iksar, upon first arriving in this area, is not KOS to the BloodSabers, but merely dubious, much like the Rogues under Freeport. Instant bank! See the beggar guy.

The necro guild won't train an Iksar necromancer without a faction increase, and do not EVER do a quest that gives bad BloodSaber faction.

Also, watch out for Vin Moltar, and probably Bait Masterson. They hate us, and other evils, I suppose.

By the way, the quickest way to Qeynos from Kunark is to use the ancient Combine Teleport system in Timorous Deep. Get an invis, available from a lvl 4 enchanter, just before clicking the firepot for Erudin. Hop into the water, swim for a safe shore to the right, and wait for boat. See the Tim Deep guide at eqatlas.com or here on Allakhazam for info on the Teleport Room.

And good luck with your adventuresome travelling.

Aqueducts

Geez...my lvl 13 Monk worked in the aqueducts from lvl 7-10 with np...no random aggro attacks from anything..even from Specters. If you are Angostics...you will be fine in there...frogloks are easy kills and very nice exp with silk (and sometimes cured silk) to sell for 4-5gp...1-4pp for Cured. DONT go into the smugglers and thugs camp...unless you are atleast lvl 12 as I took out 2 smugglers but one more snuck up behind me and backstabbed me. The sercet red walls hold only pain for pally's and good religions...Be careful and good hunting!

ok, im a lvl 7 druid. there are lvl 5 and 6 cubes. they have 100 hp, deal from 10-17 points of damage and dont miss very often. pluse, they can root you to the ground. tips, STAY WITH ANOTHER CHARICTER> ONE LVL SEVEN CAN NOT TAKE ONE ON BY HIM-SELF. BUT 2 OR MORE LVL 7-8 CHARICTERS ==MAY== BE ABLE TO TAKE ONE ON. but the give VERY good exp.

No; it's not a new species. Just know that invisibility seems to be useless against the Rotting Sentries and other high level bastards in this dungeon.

Which entrance do ye recommend for a good (as opposed to evil) player of about level 8?

Mostly depends on what your looking for but for good characters wanting to just hunt I reccomend the entrance in front of crows tavern or the entrance through the vine covered wall on the outside of town in the newbie fields, just exit through front gate and follow it around till you see the vine covered area. If you are going to hunt cubert i recommend entering the pond in front of the bank under the bridge as if you were passing the arena heading to the bank. Non of the rest should be to bad other than the one under the arena, if you are good do not enter here, I repeat don't use this entrance or argyn shieldstand will turn you into a human shiskabob. And he is there immedietly upon zoning so you can't run anywhere except back out where you came.

First enter through the newbie zone entrance. then walk around and stay away from the water and kill gelatinous cubes(con first) and smugglers if youre 10-12 and avoid the are near the temple and you should be alright

Map entrances marked wrong?
# Mar 28 2001 at 12:54 PM Rating: Default
Every time I enter the sewers by the mage area (water under bridge near bank) I end up at the spot on the map marked as the entrance to the pier in the ocean. The map says I should be right next Cubert, but I am not. I have checked the maps at eqatlas and eqmaps and they both agree.

Any help?

Thanks,
David

Ok you are correct in the one you are entering in fact if you turn around after zoning and zone right back out you will come out at the pier not at the spot under the bridge near the mages. Ok the spot that they are refering to is the bridge that you cross when heading to the bank, you are going by the arena and turn to go across a bridge right before getting to the bank, in that spot jump in water and there is a pit in there that will zone you to the cubert area. The one by the mage is just an alternate pier entrance albeit exit will always be at the pier. So yes the maps are correct its just confusing with the two similar zones to the sewers so close together. Look for the other one under bridge in front of bank entrance and not beside it next to mages.

Ok starting off there are 4 major areas of the catacombs. First you have the north area entrances are either the hidden vine area of the north qeynos wall, or by entering the lake in front of crows tavern. Low level area mostly popular npcs here are bait masterson and vin moltar for paw of opollo quest. Once you get to the small aligators this is about as far south i would recommend for good aligned characters. South area entrances are in water just off front of docks, or entrances in the pond near the bank. Popular npcs in this area are cubert for earring and drosco the zombie. Stay south of drosco, and cubert area is safe if you just stay in that area. Next area is smuggler area which can be reached by falling through floors in rogue guild or through a hidden wall in northern area. Fairly safe area for most several notable npcs rare in this area. Malka rale rogue epic, begger wylin finally the rat king fixed, and a couple of people that are under circle of unseen hand faction. Only way out is through the hidden wall. The last area is the Bertox temple and its surroundings. To get here closest way is entrance in slave jails under the arena, bewarned argyn shieldstan of the bloodsabers is posted as soon as you enter via this entrance, if he doesn't like you, you will die as soon as you zone, don't I repeat don't zone here unless you are evil, or by going through one of 3 secret hidden wall entrances. when you enter you will notice the walls have a red area through the center of them. This is the very dangerous area for those that do not have good bloodsaber faction, this includes the specters, rotting sentrys, sepsis rats, and a necromancer that do go just beyond the entrances to the temple mainly the corridor that is near the shady individuals. If you get your faction up with bloodsabers you can just walk by all these with no problem at all but if not they can be deadly unless your in a strong group that can take out 30 to 35 range mobs, and of course the temple farther in which most won't reach that are not alligned with bloodsabers has the guildmasters and the like. If you see red on the walls and you are not sure if your liked or not turn around immediately. I hope this helps those that wish to seek there fortunes in the sewers under qeynos.

no wonder they have had to offer an exp boost here, it is needed to try and tempt players down here as since all the new monsters have been added it is EXTREMELY difficult. I wont venture much further than Cubert as because as soon as you do you tend to walk into all manner of high lvl unexpected monsters and there are never any other players about to help you. I might only be only lvl 17 but i tend to get hit once, stunned hit a few more times then its corpse recovery time. So might i advise the ill advised to stay clear.

I play a level 6 Necro and can wonder safely, of course, throughout the Bet. Temple area and conduits. Do any neutral MOB's venture past the spectre sentries or do I need to push further into the aquaduct?
Where is that zombie?
# Feb 23 2001 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
Subject line says it all....Does he have a placeholder? Does a beggar sometimes spawn instead of the zombie? My chanter would LOVE the Order of Thunder; her Agate neckalace is becoming passe.

Thanks

Well, if you're looking for the Order of Thunder necklace, I found one in WK, all you have to do is sit by the road in between the two mountains, right at the actual outlet into the plains. There is a runner decked out in full plate mail here, if you're evil, GO FOR IT. You lose faction with the Guards, but that's easily remedied by a few trips to BB. I killed the runner and he dropped a little change and the Order of Thunder necklace, I'm assuming it's a very rare drop, but if you're low level, it's worth it.

Difference in posts has to do with two things - faction - there's nasty undeads and necros, that are Ok to necros. I was KOS and left a trail of corpses. The other difference is that a lot of new monsters got added - it used to be much less tough.

Do most of the undead nasties down there belong to the bloodsaber faction? If so how long would it take me to get to anxcious or dubious from KOS doing the rat king quest?
