So, does anyone know if the only way of getting this on progression servers is off of Vox? Last I checked, Research may be broken.

When you get the shattered pieces, he tells you they are the runes that used to make it. When Sony re-did research, they much have messed this up. Going to try to petition and get them to echange the worthless pieces for the spell. Will keep it posted here.

Apparently the comet thing is back. I just love using this spell just to watch it hit the mob. Kind of a nice effect when it is the kill shot in a group.

comon now... what was SoE thinking.. ice comet was one of the coolest spells, specially after they made the nice spell graphic, now they nerf it to make it be more like a hail storm instead of a comet, damage wise, maybe they will change it back, because they should
edit: ok, but the mana ratio is almost 4:1, which is pretty sick, although i'd rather have it be 3:1 and deal 1500 for 500 mana, comon now, your evocing a freekin comet!

With the most recent patch series, SOE felt the need to nerf my biggest and best NUKE! damn them. I used to hit for around 1200+HP at LVL 52. Now I hit for 860something HP. Granted, it uses less mana and is faster and regens faster, but oh well... I don't use rend anymore. Tears of Druzil is now my favorite for one target. more damage- more mana efficient.

Its sad really this was the 1 good nuke you got until lvl 60 and it got nerfed =(

I have oftem wondered why my wizard at level 51 can crit on this spell at or over 1897, and my buddy also a wizard at level 59 now has never hit this high, any help would be great.

Crits do double what the hit would have otherwise. Your friend apparently has gotten really, really bad luck from the random number generator, if he has not gotten a crit over 2k by level 59.
Also, if you have a focus effect that improves damage, they would make your average crit higher than his.

And it seems there isnt another spell that does that kind of damage for wizzys until the Lv60s

I like this spell, 1100 Direct Damage is nothing to sneeze at, even with a high mana cost, its medium/long cast time give you a basis to judge how much damage you do in total, Draught of Fire may indeed have a better ratio, but no one's gonna gasp at it hehe. Rest assured if someone on your team is seeing it for the first time, they're gonna say something about its awesomeness, the spell does look really cool in action. This spell is commonly found in bazaar, but is also the reward of the Quest, Tarton's Wheel (although it might be wiser to keep the Staff of the Wheel as your reward). A great spell to finish off your wave of DD. PS-This spell may as wel be called "Comet", there's no such thing as a comet that isnt made out of ice.

anyone know exactly where to buy this spell other than the bazaar or looting it off perma frost's dragon herself?
ive had this spell for a LONG time sitting in my bank collection dust after buying it in bazaar for like 50pp or less until today that is. and with ID item it'll add another 20% damage. though i braught it out in mid adventure and no one seemed to notice when the guy's life suddenly had a major plunge! oh well we were rushed for collection stuff.

It's a researched spell; no NPC vendors sell it. Rune of the Astral and Rune of Frost -- they can be obtained through the Tarton's Wheel quest, as well as normally.
Really, though, it's usually quite easy to find at the bazaar. Many wizards well past this level will continue to make this spell to work up their research skill.

great spell. Casting time and mana is a bit high. I think i heard in the long run the dmg-mana ratio is greater then Rend tho. with spell haste and mana preserve 3 this spell is really great. when u hit 51 u get draught of fire which even tho its lower dmg, the mana-dmg ration is ALOT better

Tested it on a Griffon in North karana wham 1110(at 49) pretty cool.
