I did the beta test for The Serpent's Spine and these never did summon. The named goo (Creeping Death) DOES Summon. He can pop in place of any of the goos, so you should always con them to make sure you don't have him. Creeping Death is IMMUNE TO RUN SPEED CHANGES, moves at SoW Speed, hits for up to 2500 and can quad (quick death for toons without high end AC and/or LOTSA HP!).
Regular goos never summon, can root, snare, or mez relatively easily and are great for kiting. They normally run at SoW speeds so WATCH OUT! They also hit like freight trains (400-1500) and can hit rather fast. They do not see invis and are living mobs. At low HP they will run if not snared.
They range in level from 68 to 72 (not 69-71). I know this because I usually multi-box them with my Necro (currently 65), my druid (68) and chanter (72). They can range from white to druid (68) to white to chanter (72). In a pinch my necro (65) is able to solo one, but that increases the down time - so I usually just 3 box all of these toons (cake walk with all 3 present).
Good xp and they also drop a number of items (including Lucidem which is good for Alchemy (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=69451).
Great place for a kiter party or solo. I have run up my necro's AAs a LOT at the camp. Best part is that you can usually get them as a single pull (if careful) and if you don't - there is the zone to Sunderock Springs close by (I kite them on the hill that leads to Sunderock).
Don't even think of trying the camp if you don't have SoW, SoE, or Run5, and a Levitation of some kind. You will need the levi for the bumpy ground (PITA) - which makes the mobs "you can't see your target" - and if you don't got sow on you WILL GET ET!!
Enjoy a good camp!
