Wiltin is an approximately 75-92 min spawn window. Rangers need to kill him to get the Quiver of Kithicor to combine the arrows they get from the outcast brownies in LFay.

Wiltin can be found on the same island as Capt. Surestout (who drops the Bracers of Erollisi)

Long spawn but less than 72 minutes. Not at specific times.

I'm a Ranger returned to the Glade to finally earn all my Ivy Etched armor.
I finally got Wilton to spawn. As some others have said, he will spawn just as you are logging out.
My tactic was to kill the "a buccaneers". I killed the buccaneer at least 20 maybe 30 times. They are on a long spawn cycle but it was usually less than 72 minutes for me as I was timing them. I first camped here around level 27 and he would have been tough. I am level 41 now as have been killing Gornit while I waited for the buccaneer.

Some players said he spawns at 10am or 11am. That might have been true for them and was for me at first, but he ends up spawning some certain time (~60-70 minutes) after you kill him last. So sometimes it would be the afternoon, or evening in game time.

I also found and killed the Ancient Cyclops during that time. Good luck everyone.

That is simply insane just for an outdated piece of armour. It'd be more bearable if it was him everytime and not that bloody "a buccaneer"!

I did this one last night. I got tired of trying some of the waiting games the last couple of days and killed the pirates----NO Wiltin! I went to GFay last night and hailed Lt. Leafstalker and asked "What quiver of Kithicor?" Then I zoned to Ocean of Tears and there he was on tracking. He dropped the quiver in the first try. BTW, that picture of a blonde Wiltin is not what ya see on the Xegony server. He's got the standard wood elf look with brown hair. I'm going to try this one again after work to see if it was just a fluke.

Looks like I was just lucky. I was hoping Lt. Leafstalker was the one that triggered Wiltin to spawn. It wasn't the case the second time around.

Wiltin is random spawn
# Jul 14 2004 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent

Hi

I notice all of the information on this guy is getting a little stale.
Here is what I have found in 2004:
NONE of the methods described below will spawn him.
there is only ONE spawn of the bucaneer per EQ day.
Each day he despawns at 7 am and respawns at 9 am.
No triggering, no this no that.
If Wiltin exists he is a random spawn in place of the Bucaneer.
One thing remains unchanged, if you kill the Bucaneer, he will not respawn the next morning but will remain away until a full EQ day has cycled again.
I have CAREFULLY tried EVERY method listed in this post, none makes any difference. Bucaneer appears each time..... so far

I tried all the methods already posted for getting this traitor to spawn, none produced Wiltin for me. I don't claim that this is the only way to get him to spawn but I will tell you what worked for me.

I had my 35 Ranger camped on Seafury Island watching the Buccaneer and my level 30 Druid in Kelethin (yes I have 2 accounts and two computers, but you can do this with a companion). At 8 am (Norrath time) when the Buccaneer de-spawned I had my druid trigger the quest and gate back to Seafury Island where she had bound herself. At 10 am, when the spawn pops, it was Wiltin. I tried all the other methods below and none worked, I have done this twice and it worked both times.

I hope this Helps.

If you watch the pot it won't boil ;)

I've got three wiltins with my druid, never wanting a wiltin. One time I was kiling sea furys, saw him in passing and ensnared him since I know how fast he depops. killed him after seafury was dead and asked if anyone wanted him for ranger legs, no reply (like two other people in the zone) Another two times I was doing the bracer of erolsi and pirate earring quest, you give them to styria fearnon (the drops from captain sureshot, or earring from any pirate) and it raises all the same factions as the muffin quest in freeport. I was doing it when bored and got wiltin a couple times over a couple evenings and the AC once.

I actually bothered getting the ivy legs once, gad getting all those arrows from the stupid pixies bites, and they rotted twice more.

So the best way to get wiltin to spawn, is to not get wiltin to spawn. What happened to you may have been a coincidence, I have no idea. I seem to see wiltin nearly every time I got to OOT.
Success!

Camped the buccaneer on and off over the weekend. Friday's camp ended when I went AFK for a sec and came back and someone had killed every NPC on the island--including PH buccaneer. Tried again on Saturday night; no show by Wilton. Logged on early Sunday and Wilton was there! Snare, stinging swarm, a few ignites and melee. Wilton went down pretty easy to a 36 ranger. Only advice I would give is a repeat of what others have said: stay on shore east of tents, be patient, don't kill the buccaneer, and bring a fishing pole and plenty of bait!

Now on to kill Brownies!

Camp Solved

*Elianore digs 2cp out of her pocket*

Just spent alot of time camping Wiltin Windwalker.

Confusing info out there on his spawn cycle and such. Such as, his place holder is the buccaneer on Seafury Island....true. Some said that he would spawn every 45 mins....not true. Some said he was a rare/random spawn....not true. If the quest isn't initiated, the buccaneer will de-spawn at 8am and re-spawn at 10am every Norath day....true.

Here's the **** to get this guy to pop.

Between noon and 4pm, Norath time, hail Lt. Leafstalker in Kelethin. He will mention the Quiver of Kithicore, some arrows, and Wiltin Windwalker. Who/what each item. This will place Wiltin into the spawn cycle of the buccaneer.

Now you can mosey on over to Seafury Isle in OOT. No need to hurry, because Wiltin is just now in the cycle. That means that he won't spawn until 10am two days later. ie...It's 3pm on March 3, 3112 Norath time. You initiate the quest. At 8am March 4 the buccaneer de-spawns then re-spawns at 10am. But on March 5, the buccaneer de-spawns at 8am and at 10am Wiltin spawns in his place. Snare, range attack, DOT, attack...

He is supposed to be a lvl 30 - 34 mob, but undercons. I don't know if he stays a full day, or de-spawns after some time. Didn't wait around, killed him with some help and went about my business.

Good luck.

Well I read the post about the guy who said he logged on two nights in a row at 10pm eastern and people told him he had just missed Wiltin, so he logged on at 9pm et and got him. Well i logged on tonight after dinner at approx. 9:20pm et, and Wiltin was up on track and blue to me (34 ranger). I wasn't foolish enough to think I could solo him, especially since i just detwinked myself (i put all my money in the bank, im trying to quest for all my items now...god knows why, but i have the short sword of morin and ebony bladed long sword already). Anyway, I found two people at Gornit, and we went after Wiltin, and got the three pirates (chuckles) on us as well. No matter, we disposed of all of them, and I got my quiver (supposedly the longest most boring part of the quest) practically as soon as i got to oot. On another note, I camped him one time before in the morning, waited about 90 minutes to get him...I'm not sure, but it couldve quite possibly been around 9am et when he spawned that time...someone should check around 9am or 9pm et and see if my theory is right...hope this long *** post helped someone

Camping Wiltin
# Mar 22 2002 at 8:34 PM Rating: Default
Camped Wiltin for a total of 18 RL hours, so I was able to do a lot of experimentation and want to relate the info. First, while waiting for the bucc, you can kill Cptn Sureshot, take his bracer and give it to the head lady on sister isle, along with his earring, for xp and a few plat when you sell whatever she gives you. Will increase your swimming skill getting there and is good faction. Use camo when doing this to avoid cyclops. When you first arrive on the island, announce that you are camping the buccaneer and (please) no one should kill it. Set up at the top of the little pennisula East of the captain's hut. Nothing will aggro you here, so you can do RL stuff while you are waiting for the spawn (use hide to avoid any trains). At 8AM bucc will despawn, then respawn (unless you're lucky) at 10AM. Kill him immediately. You should buff yourself at 9AM to prep for battle. He was no problem at lvl 34, and not bad xp, at least you get something while you wait. AT 10AM the next day, about 70 RL minutes, the bucc will spawn again. This always held true, the bucc always respawned at 10AM the next day when killed quickly after he spawns at 10AM. Killing the bucc in this fashion got Wiltin to spawn after 4 or 5 cycles for two of us on seperate occasions. Would like to know if this works for anyone else. Wiltin is tough for his con (at 34) so snare, arrow, root, arrow, DoT, etc. From the little pennisula, you can head to the NE corner of the island, rooting and kiting Wiltin as long as you can, then melee to finish him. Steer clear of the captain's tent, as he aggro'd on me if I got too close and him joining in could determine the battle. Hailing Lt Leafstalker and going through the speech does NOT spawn Wiltin, tried it twice with Wiltin never showing.

Slightly Different...
# Mar 20 2002 at 1:29 PM Rating: Default
A ranger friend and I camped him just a few days ago on Rodcet Nife server. We had a slightly different situation occur from the previous posts. We arrived at about 11am, and figured we must have just missed him. We set up camp right on coast behind that little bugger Surestout's tent. Killed him and the female Drixl a few times for fun, he agros right through the back wall lol. Anyway, if you camp behind that tent right at waters edge you have a good view of what is going on and unless someone trains, NOTHING will get near you. None of the cyclops even came close, and neither does Gornit.

To make a long story short, we waited 1 EQ day and at 6am eq time I started running back and forth checking for "a buccaneer" to spawn. This is where the "different" thing happened - >

TO my surprise at 7am, BAM, there is Wiltin, NOT the buccaneer!! We NEVER saw a buccaneer at all. I guess we got lucky since we were there for only an hour. He was easily killed by us, a 40 Pally and 38 Ranger.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Wiltin seems to be a very random spawn with a Buccaneer. After camping him off and on for over a week (RL time), I have a couple of comments, hopefully helpful.

1) If you, someone else, or a cyclops kills a buccaneer, he or Wiltin will spawn again in approximately 26 Norrathian hours.

2) If a buccaneer does not get killed beforehand, he will despawn at around 8am and he or Wiltin will spawn around 10am. This is the quickest respawn option.

3) Of course, when I say a buccaneer or Wiltin will spawn, it is usually a buccaneer. The Wiltin spawn is RARE, in my humble opinion.

4) I agree with the other posts. Plan to do something else while waiting. Gornit makes a great ATM in OOT, if you have the group to take him. I personally worked on fletching, swimming (went from 90 to 140), fishing, et cetera. I chatted on guild chat and worked on RL stuff. My personal favorite was to kill Sureshot and that female DE pirate (forgot her name), swim around the island, and returned to start the cycle over again.

Good luck, fellow rangers. This one definitely tests our skill of patience!

I petitioned during this last week to see if this was broken. I have now spent almost 40 hours waiting for Wiltin to show, spending time in 6 to 7 hour segments. That is the equivalent of over one month EQ time. Because this seemed to be inconsistent with these posts, I petitioned to see if this was broken. After petitioning, GM advised this wasn't broken. If anyone else if similarly experiencing no success in ever seeing this spawn appear on Vazelle server, please let the petition as well. Thanks.

# Mar 08 2002 at 11:14 AM Rating: Decent

I was able to solo this guy easy at lvl 35. Snare, root, dot, pluck, repeat. Just make sure you drag him to the shore first.

Be prepared for a long camp. Like every other post, the buc despawns at 8AM then pops between 9AM and 10AM. If you are lucky, Wiltin will pop. I was there for 8 hours total. Hailing Lt. Leafstalker does not seem to work. I had a ranger guildie hailing him, and asking what needed to be asked -- it never worked.

Here's a few suggestions of things to do while you wait.

-Grab a book, magazine, or whatever, and get your character loaded. (By that I mean, drink until you can't drink anymore.) Then use hide, and read. (I managed to get my laundry done between cycles.)

-Bring a couple of fishing poles, an lots of bait. Work on your fishing.

-Or, I would suggest bringing a friend, and camp Gornit while you wait. I made over 250pp camping him. I had 3 different partners throughout my time there. All of us killed Gornit easy. I partnered with a lvl 45 cleric, a lvl 34 mage, and lvl 35 shammy. We all had no problems killing him. The shammy was the best partner, aggro kite him along the shore.

-You can also swim, and work on your other skills such as hide, sneak. But I wouldn't suggest leaving the island, you may lose your camp.

That's my 2cp. I hope everybody finds this helpful.

Spawn Times Reported

I just got the Quiver of Kithicor. I tried to follow the information in all the posts, but of course it didn't work quite the same way for me.

Here's what happened. I arrived on the island at 7am game time. Wiltin's PH "a buccaneer" was standing in the pirate's camp. At 8am game time he de-spawned. Everything was going according to plan. I waited and kept hitting track. Soon it was 12p Noon game time and there was no re-spawning of "a buccaneer" and no sign of Wiltin either.

So, I waited till another game day passed. The next game morning at 7a "a buccaneer" spawned again. Like clockwork, at 8a "a buccaneer" de-spawned. Then, a few minutes later in between 9a and 10a Wiltin spawned.

A kind Druid that was camping Gornit killed Wiltin for me (and saved me from Gornit when he spawned right at my pulling spot) and I got my quiver.

So, based on my experiences, the only thing that I saw consistently happen was "a buccaneer" de-spawning at 8a game time. The re-spawn time for Wiltin was 3 to 6 minutes (real time) after the buccaneer’s second de-spawning, and 75 - 78 minutes after the first de-spawn. So, all in all, this camp only took about 80 minutes total (not counting the trips I took to scout the locations, etc.).

# Nov 11 2001 at 9:32 PM Rating: Decent
Word of warning: Beware while camping Wiltin, I had a Tainted Seafury Cyclops come up and kill the bucaneer place holder, which obviously buggers the spawn for yet another hour.
If you can I recommend getting rid of this guy,
or get someone else too.

I spent about 7 hours camping Wiltin in the end.
I got my quiver though thanks the kind help of a
nearby ogre warrior (thanks Zelus).

The info so far on spawn times seems consistent
with what I observed (8am down, 9-10am back up
for which ever one, and a gap of an hour before respawn if killed or skipped).

Got the quiver last night, and I believe he is a random spawn.
1. Buccaneer always despawns at 8am.
2. Either a buccaneer or Windwalker will spawn at 9/10am.

I think its luck of the draw which one you get. I never hailed Leafstalker, nor had anyone hail him for me. It took 3 spawn cycles for Windwalker to pop. A fellow ranger (lvl 34) and myself (lvl 32) took him with no problem. It was a good time to practice my swimming :-)

I finally got this guy last night. The prior 2 (r/l) nights, when I arrived, Seafury/Gornit campers told me I had "just missed him". Both times, I arrived at the same (again, r/l) time, about 10:00pm eastern. Last night I made it a point to catch him on the earlier cycle, and sure enough - there he was at 9:30 realtime.

I will NOT claim that he is a once-per-reallife-day spawn. 1 pop (personally witnessed) is not enough to pronounce any pattern. It's just an interesting coincidence, and may be worth pursuing to the next Ranger that happens along.

As for Wiltin himself - he was easy at 38, but he has a bunch of HPs. I didn't let him backstab me. Harmony, an arrow, pull to shore, snare, melee. I lost about 1.5 bubbs of HPs. Not listed here, but Wiltin carries the same factions as the other pirates: +FirionaVie and -PiratesOfGunthak.

Wilton is NOT a triggered spawn. Read that sentence again :)

I have tried the Hail Lt. Leafstalker method numerous times - both while the Buccaneer was up and after he had despawned. The results were uniform: failure.

I believe it's entirely possible that Wilton WAS at one time a triggered spawn - and was subsequently whacked with the Verant Nerf Stick(tm). The same thing happenned with Nilit's Contraption in Steamfont. Used to be triggered, now, is just rare. At least with Wilton, we know the PH.

I must say, this is the worst part of the Ivy Etched quests that I have encountered to date. Of course, I don't have the boots (and don't plan to) and have yet to try the Gauntlets.

actualy. . .
I had just heard of the trigger method after a fruitless day spent camping for Wilton. . I had my husband port over to chit chat with Lt Leafstalker, got to him just after midnight EQ time, according to all I have heard, if you talk to him on one eq day, the NEXT eq day Wilton spawns at 10 am eq time. So we went to the island to wait for Wilton and sure enough, at the following eq day at precicly 10 am eq time out pops Wilton. I cannot say on the vast experience of one attempt that this is a trigger spawn, but the fact that it followed the story so precicly, even down to the spawn time. . .it makes me think he be a triggered spawn. Who is to say that those who had NOT talked to the Lt and still gotten the quiver did not benifit from somebody ELSE doing it unwittingly?Just my 2cp from my experience, do with it what you will =)
Is Wiltin Tough?

I plan to camp Wiltin solo, and I'm a 39th level Ranger. Does anyone have an opinion as to how tough Wiltin is? Obviously, I plan to root and DoT, then use arrows, but I find that mobs often resist my root, which results in an instant melee. I wield Icetooth's claws and a SSoM.

Opinions? Thanks.

-------------------------------------

Well, I finally got around to the Ocean of Tears, although I'm at 40 now. Camped the spot on-and-off over several RL days. Best time to check is in the RL mornings or afternoons, as he is likely to be camped by other rangers during peak server hours. The buccaneer placeholder despawned generally between 5am and 8am gametime. After several frustrating cycles of watching him despawn and pop back up a few minutes later, I got P.O.'d and killed the bucc. Waited for him to respawn and then despawn, and Lo! there was Wiltin. Of course all my buffs were down 'cuz I'd gotten lazy after several hours of stopping by the keyboard to check the spawn. It is important to note that I did not talk to anyone to get Wiltin to spawn.

Wiltin was not hard, but I only bothered to root him for about 20% of his HPs. Meleed him from there, and he took me down to about 30% of my HPs. If it had been necessary, I could have rooted/nuked/arrowed him for much more damage before engaging. I would guess that any ranger in the mid-high 30s could take him with careful kiting and proper medding/buffing before engaging him.

The peninsula on the Southwest corner of the Seafury Isle, just beyond the buccaneer spawn, seems a completely safe place to sit and camp, no mobs even get close enough to aggro.

A 38th lvl Monk, 39th Lvl Druid, and I 38th lvl Ranger killed him, I think the most damage that he did was maybe 100 to me, my monk friend didn't take hardly any. He is a long wait and we were there for 2 hours, but were able to kill the cyclops on the island, so was not that bored. But the funny thing is, I got KOS to everyone on the island, oh well hehe... I'd be surprised if it was because you didn't talk to Leafstalker first. My guess is one of the following two things happened:

2) You turned in to Gandari or Morin instead of Leaf

Jumped off the boat and swam over to the seafury island a few hours before the reported 8AM buccaneer depop time. Had a guildie hail Lt. Leafstalker in GFay and ask about Quiver and Wiltin per the instructions below. Sure enough the buc despawned at 8AM, I cleared out the camp to prevent adds, and just after 10AM... the buc popped again :(

Killed the buc for spite, and then he didn't repop until noon the next day, so had to wait an extra 2 EQ hours. Waited for this one to depop at 8AM again, which he did, then watched the buc repop again at 10AM. /sigh and log for dinner now that I have the spawn timed. Logged back in about 6AM, a druid shows up at 7AM looking for Wiltin for a friend but was luckily a friendly fellow, buc depopped at 8AM and then finally just after 10AM Wiltin shows up. The druid cast a nice damage shield on me which helped but wasn't really necessary at lvl 34... root, dot, and arrows would have been enough to weaken him suffciently for me to melee solo. Dropped the Quiver (which has no weight reduction/haste btw) and one of the usual pirate earrings.

My experience points to the idea he is a random spawn in place of the buc, and is not triggered.

Ok, here is how this guy works. I just did this as of June 6, 2001. He is NOT random, he is triggered. (read that sentence again).

Here is what you have to do:
1. ensure that the "a buccaneer" is spawned.
2. Go to Kelethin, hail Lt. Leifstalker, and ask him about Wiltin Windwalker.
3. Return to OOT and stare at the "a buccaneer".
4. At 8am (game time) he will despawn.
5. Just after 10am WIltin will spawn.
6. Kill Wiltin, loot the quiver, continue about your adventure.

I sat on this guy for 8 hours and never saw him once. Then i had a friend hail the Lt. and ask about Wiltin and sure enough, he popped the next morninig. To test, i waited for another day and the buccaneer spawned again. I again had my friend hail the Lt. and ask about Wiltin...just like i thought, he popped the next morning.

Bottom line: this is NOT a long and tedious camp. Wiltin is NOT random, you trigger him, he'll pop, drop the quiver, and you are done with that part.

GREAT! I see where every claims this to be another long camp. I have the Cloak of the Jaggedpine. It took all of my playing time for one RL month before I got the three casks in BlackBurrow. It seems like I will have to switch from "EverQuest Mode" to "EverCamp Mode" once again.
