Used in what recipe?
# Apr 23 2006 at 11:29 AM Rating: Decent
The item now says can be used in tradeskills, and have not found any information on what recipe this can be used in. Anyone have any idea?

it used to be used in half-elven cultural but apparently the recipe changed but the TS tag wasn't removed.

at least, according to EQ Traders.

non-lore version
# Feb 16 2005 at 2:47 PM Rating: Decent
There's a non-lore version that has the "can be used in tradeskills" tag on it. Dropped off the pirate on the sister isle in OoT.
Found this earring.

I get this earring on 1 out of 3 kills on Seafury Island in OOT. Gornit drops it all the time.
CHA Thresholds
# Feb 06 2004 at 12:45 PM Rating: Decent
I have been told by a mostest uber bard that CHA has levels just like we have levels. And it comes in increments of 25.

ie; 50, 75, 100, etc...

Also in that line of wisdom was another lesson, once you get 175 CHA you have maxed out for buying/selling, so don't waste money getting more than that.

Hope this helps, /ALE

I'm pretty sure the point where Charisma stops affecting prices is 110.

There are a few merchants in the game mostly near newb zones that requirea cha of 176 to give best price..the one at the gate in north qeynos for example...however the vast majority of them give best price at 105plus
merchants

About the earring, I can't say... but about merchants, I hear the more you buy/sell using the same one, the better the deals go. They
get used to you picking them, and like it...

Selling
# Feb 02 2003 at 7:36 PM Rating: Default
This post actually has nothing to do with a Pirate Earring , but due to the post about the CHA mugs I wanted to add something else I have found to be true. If you are selling items of value (ie. high end gems, or pieces such as fine steel weapons even) provided you have the means and the time, take your items to your classes guild and sell them to a merchant there. You will get a bit better price than from a normal merchant...even one in your own home town. I haven't tried the CHA mugs yet but I imagine using them IN your guild may boost your profit even more.

This is usually due to your Faction with your own guild. Most of the time you have the highest faction with your own guild.

okay i'm already a woodelf druid that cons amiable to soldiers of tunare, but if i do this quest enough and i con ally to them, will i notice the prices of items i sell rise and things i buy decrease? also, my friend tried to use the beg technique on heartwood master, and the master killed him and he is also a druid like me same guild but he was a half-elf? answers would be nice TY

The biggest pricing influence to NPC merchants is Charisma. I've now taken to carrying 2 Opal encrusted steins everywhere I go to boost my Chr by 50 pts. Gives about a 10% boost to selling prices and lowers buying prices by about the same. Don't leave home without them. Faction only determines if the NPC will talk to you.

I believe that faction at that point has almost no effect on prices. I've tested with my enchanter: check price, use faction adjustment spell, check price. Usually was the same.

A note of caution to lower level players, or people not ready for a fight. The pirate's on sister isle attack anyone. doesn't matter if they con green to you, they will still attack. At level 20, they are pretty much a joke, although they still gave exp. They do backstab, so be careful if you are fishing, or medding, becaase one backstab took me down about 50 pts. BTW, the earrings are worth about 5-6 silver to a merchant.

They're actually moderately wimpy. I went there with my level 13 Wood Elf Ranger and one aggroed on me, and conned red. I killed him and got the earring, although he had me down to about one-third health. I was in Banded with a few Ry'Gorr pieces, with a Shiny Brass Shield and a half-decent sword - so I was twinked, but not highly so. I got a blue bubble of xp for the kill, and then continued to Paludal Caverns, where I killed blue-con mobs for just as much XP.
