In South Ro? I used to camp the AC for the JBoot quest. I have so many Ring of the Ancient's that my characters, including alts, wear them as a joke. (Would just use the Druid port back to SRo or the LDoN camp to check it periodically) Anyhow, I've seen these guys everywhere! They're KOS, apparently despite your level. I've gotten used to dodging them as to not waste the time to knock them over. I even found a use for the Druid bear pet (a level 55-ish spell that most Druids tend to ignore, for good reason) as something to kill these things with while passing through. Them and the darn skeletons.
Anyhows, I guess you had bad luck. =/ They seem to be pretty common, to me.
If it helps, anyone else doing the same quest, I would mass train zone and cast a high-end AoE to slaughter it (PB AoE have no practical target limit). The general idea was that the AC may have a placeholder (which I don't know for sure). Whatever the case may be, while doing this, I did have high occurances of this particular MOB, along with many others, of course. Perhaps, if you need the Crypt Mummy to spawn, you should just kill everything in sight?
for my lvl 15 pally there great exp. i do have to lay hands sometimes to win but its worth it the loot is decent also the disease isnt much concern cause i can cure it.
Okay someone has been smoking crack... if by solo you mean barely escape with your life then yeah... you can solo these at 12 as a cleric. At 17 they posed minor challenge but at 14 they were hard as hell. At 12 I would figure they would take you down to 1 bubble health and deplete your mana from Undead Nuking them.

They get ppl rabid all the time and I usually hear people yelling/oocin' for a cure disease. I like to help them cuz I get donations =) Last time I got 3pp!
Rabies is the nasty side effect of going toe to toe with the Mummy, spell casters with pets can avoid it, but warriors will need to pack a few bandages and be prepared to spend sopme serious time sitting around because it takes ages to shrug off.
Trolls only suffer a penalty to their natural regeneration and don't actually lose any hitpoints.(generally if they have a high enough stamina)
Aside from that, try to get above them, I noticed a distinct drop in the number of hits I was taking when I was up the hill a bit, Might just be me though.
Hey trollies here is good money if ya about he 15-20 range. These lil dudes drop some good loot eventhough they will disease you. But good thing about trolls is that with our regeneration ability that disease dont hurt us much at all
Acutally... there seems to be two versions of this guy and I can see no distinction between the two. There is the Crypt Mummy and his identical twin brother the Sand Mummy. Both seem to be around the same level, and mindlessly wander around attacking anything that happens to fall in thier path. The do drop embalming dust, which seems to be an ingredient for something or other :) i sold one for 5p once...
