Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".
For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry. This quest begins with Tyla Filinav in The Nexus. You say, 'Hail, Tyla Filinav' Tyla Filinav says 'Have you come to help me in my collection ______? There are quite a few items on my list and I'm worried about my chances to find them all. Would you be [interested] in helping me find them all?' You say, 'I am interested.' Tyla Filinav says 'Perfect, here's the list of items I'm looking for and a bag to hold them in. Make sure you seal the bag once you've found them all and then return it to me.' You receive a Lunar Collection Bag and A Lunar Clue Book, which reads: 1. Loo careflly a what you see. Find what yu are missin and use it to you advantge.
You are looking for: 1. The missing letters are K U T O G R A. Rearrange these to spell "gor taku." You are looking for A Collector's Crude Stone Idol - gor taku, Shadeweaver's Thicket. 2. Any chance you can change this to xth (ex: 8th) instead of spelling it out (ex: Eighth) in the Alla's database to better match the way it is referenced in-game?
That will also keep the naming convention consistent for all the anniversary stuff. So when searching for the quests and/or achievements it would show up, altogether when searching a single term (ex: 8th).
I kept search for 6th trying to find the actual 6th Anniversary task but it's listed as "EQ Sixth Anniversary Scavenger Hunt". In-game and on Allah's, the achievement is called "Achievement: 6th Anniversary Task". But on Allah's the task is called "EQ Sixth Anniversary Scavenger Hunt". However in-game, the achievement itself refers to it as 6th: Complete 6th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt

This is the way I would perform this task if ever done again. The way I did it was to follow dschenk’s guide to start with and then a buddy wanted to try it also. So he started in Dawnshroud Peaks. Running it this way == > DP, NL, MS, ML, TG, SD, TS, KC, TM, GF, HM,PC,ST, Pok, Nex (me I try to limit ZL’s I cross LD during Zoning which I didn’t do it this time). Plan a quest, raid, mission, or anything in EQ with minimal zoning. Everything is a minimum of 5 zone crossings CampFires help but have to get there to set up (3).

This is the easiest one of the first few Anniversary collection quests. From PoK you can go either direction, but most folks would want to use the Nexus stone and pick up your collection bag there to start. Then go from zone to zone in the following order:

A Collector's Grimling Toe can drop from any grimling in the entire Grimling Forest zone.
There is now an achievement associated with this quest.

i like the quest its good. dosnt take too much time if you have a druid porting you around. few things i noticed it says that the collectors griming toe can be foun doff a bone cracker. i found it off any grimling. when i first went there i killed a bunch of bone crcakers but i diodnt get it killed bout 3 other ones and got it. also for the veil in scarlet desert. i killed 7 sun reverents and nothing. but my first reaver i killed it dropped the veil. other than that the quest above says everything. i hope i can help people
Since the last patch, the A Collector's Sun Revenant Veil - sun revenant, The Scarlet Desert item seems to be missing. I and a friend spent 4 hours killing sun revents yesterday. (we were getting good xp as we are only lvl 50 toons so we hung out to see what dropped.) But never saw a veil of any kind during the whole 4 hours. Finally gave up.
Wondered if anyone else had the problem? Also /bugged the event with SOE.

I want to add that doing the quest during the 9th anniversary i was able to do the quest on 3 toons..BUT during last few days ( patch coming up in 3 days from today) the drop rate is dramatically less. I am trying for the 10th item on list from PC and have killed like 200 mobs and no drop. With other toons it was after 2nd or 3rd it dropped the collector. It is also the 1st item i am trying to collect on this toon. So, if you are doing quest it seems best to do it soner than later as sony cuts drops off bad. BTW i am doing quest w/ a 63 rogue..and my 68 cleric did it in about 1 hour..it has been 1 hour at least on the damn fungal flesh:(
it is not bugged. drops only from the revenants on the ground, not the mesa top ones.
The collector's item can drop from any sun revenant anywhere in the zone. I've had them drop from sun revenants near the zone to Twilight Sea and also from sun revenants atop the mesa.
I found mine before the patch.. however.. it might depend on where you were killing them at. I made two full rounds of killing every one of them at the temple-thingy where they were all concentrated, and never got a drop. Giving up, I killed two more near the zone out, and the second one dropped it.
Patch -could- have broken it, and it's worth /bugging anyway, if only one or two of the right mobs in the zone will actually drop it.
