This quest begins with Mrysila at location -671, -170 in North Karana.
You say, 'Hail, Mrysila' Mrysila says 'I am Mrysila, custodian of the [Concordance of Research].' You say, 'What Concordance of Research?' Mrysila says 'The 'Concordance of Research' is an aid to those who follow the path of academia. It, and its sister books, 'Runes and Research,' volumes I and II, help those who are [interested] in researching spells.' You say, 'I am interested' Mrysila says 'I have several copies of each book. If you want a copy of 'Runes and Research', volume I or II, bring me a lightstone and I will give you whichever book I have more of at the moment. Bring me a greater lightstone, and I will give you a copy of the 'Concordance of Research.' Lightstones are a common drop from willowisps. Upon handing in a Lightstone: Mrysila says 'A lightstone? Can confirm that this npc, and the evil version npc, are not in yet in classic era on phinny. I heard they get put in in kunark.

She is actually at -671, -170
I tried doing the combine in the new Spell Research Kit to make the Azia and Beza runes and it would not combine in the container type. Also they still do not combine in the old research containers, so it looks like it is still this or nothing.

Did the quest today and it still works. Not sure how useful it is now but it will allow another path for skill ups via practice runes.

It appears with the new expansions that the Concordance of Research is an obsolete quest..
Unfortunately it is not obsolete. If you want to use the practice runes to help skill up, this concordance is still required. It's getting annoying all the containers we need to keep in the bank for research. But no more annoying than they made research overall I suppose. It's no wonder why there are so few GM researchers anymore.

The Mythirian tower links that describe the Practice Research Walk-thru no longer works. The only other description of this process I have been able to find is at Caster's Realm.

Hopefully it won't get nerfed, but it seems like the merchant at the Smuggler's Inn has an endless supply of Lightstones! Grab em while you can!!!

its actually better to hunt them in Nektulos forest. I killed around 50 in 2 hours and got 27GLS. Maybe this will help all you hunters without luck.

It's better to hunt for the wisps in the Qeynos Hills. I killed about 35 or 40 wisps in the hills with a yield of 14 GLS and then hunted about the same number in North Karana with a yield of ONE GLS. Also, the wisps in the hills drop a wisp essence along with the stone every single death, and these are stackable and sell for a couple of gold to NPC's. Trust me. It's well worth the run across West Karana for a LOT more money and EXP.
This is a great quest for anybody who can take on several wisps. You will get quite a few burned-out lightstones, but eventually it will pay off.
I am a lvl9 Mage, and heard about this quest to get some better money for spells. I started hunting the wisps in QH, and managed to get 3 BOLS, 1 LS, & 2 GLS after 6 kills. I then went invis & took of for Northern Karana. Stay on the path, and you will easily find the Gypsy camp. Sell it to Myrsilia, and she'll give you the book. Sell it back and get between 7 and 9pp.
The surprising part is that I did this for money, but I am going to keep doing it for experience. At level 9, giving her the three stones gave me 1 1/2 YELLOW bars of experience. The wisps are good xp too.
A note about wisps - They hit hard and they hit fast. Best strategy (for a mage lvl 8 - 12) is to get the best earth pet you can summon (I tried water and air, and I ended up having to tank for them, and the water even died. Fire just sucks.) Cast Fire Shield on the pet and give it a summoned dagger or staff (both are magic. Keep one summoned weapon for yourself), then meditate so you have full mana. Once you are full, have the earth pet start attacking the wisp. Nuke the wisp with shock of blades 3-5 times, and let the pet do the rest. Between the fire shield damaging for 5ea, the nukes going for 31ea, the pet's normal pierce and bash for 16-18, the wisp is toast in under 30 seconds. Meditate, heal, repeat.
Oh, and if you can, get someone to give you SoW before you go to cash in. It is a L O N G hike to NK. Also be sure to go invisible. Lions and bandits will aggro you in WK, and Lions/bears/Griffawns/Grifennes/Griffons/Silvermist Wolves will aggro you in NK, and they WILL kill you. Be sure the coast is clear before you trade with Myrsilia, otherwise it will be another long trek. Gate back to Qeynos, and do it again. Excellent money.

As a 14 Halfling Ranger I got 1% exp for both Lightstones and Greater Lightstones.
The Lightstones would sell for 8 gold each, after turning them in I get 8 silver for the resulting "Runes and Research Volume I".

im a lvl 15 mage and i hun in the karanas a good bit and im always making a lil extra pp from ths quest.but today i targetd her and accidently sicked my pet on her .she didnt hit me but she followed me all over the place until i zone and every time i would hail her she would say somthing like" i bet i could get alot of money for that tounge and if you keep bothering me i migh have to se ho much" can anyone tel me whats up with that?

The easyest way is to just use your training points every time you level. Form What I have found out it seems that Research skill caps at (Level-15)*5. so at 20.. (20-15)=5 5*5=25.
The Smith person in SoRo told my high elf that she would not help our kind, and kept my greater stone, I wanted to wack her.
That's cause that's the place for evils to turn it in. Just remember to test the waters and con/talk to the person to make sure they are receptive otherwise it's a wast of time and plat. I still wish there was some way to hand them a posison biscuit. Sorta saying thanks for your time and wasting mine =)

This same quest can be done in Oasis with the gypies there as well....whatch out for dry bones or the crypt mummy as ou are selling though...they like to sneak up on you...
I happened to notice this but maybe others know already but 1 of the Gypsies in Oasis also gives the Concordance.

I hunt in North Karana with my 11 lvl Barb Warrior
and gave my lightstone to the gypsy but she didnt give xp nor volumes. Maybe it s just for large lightstone now????

My bard turns in GLS's for the Concordance and then sells them back. Not sure about LS, tho.

I have done this quest many times with several characters. Good races can do the quest in Oasis and NK. Evil ones can do this quest in SR. If you failed to get a book or xp it's because you gave it to the wrong gypsy. I have made this mistake myself.

When everyone filled their bags with GLS, they all wanted to go off to NK to do this quest. Sure, you get double the dough but how long are you going to wait on the dock for the boat to arrive, then sail to Erudin, then back to Qeynos, run to NK to get paid, then come back for more? By the time you get back, I will have 3 times as many PP as you do from all the LS and GLS I looted while you were gone and sold to the cat merchant on the island. And as far as the XP goes, there is plenty of Vampire Bats, island madmen, fire elementals, zombie sailors and Kerra spiders to kill between spawns, not to mention the xp from the wisps themselves. Unless you can teleport, or have someone in your group who can, it is not worth it. And even though wisps do turn up in other places, they aren't as numerous or drop as many GLS as they do on Kerra Isle.
The amount of xp that you make at level 10 to 12 off the GLSs is well worth the boat ride if you have more than 10 or so. Very nice quest for the level.

Its not Kerra Island, Kerra Island is just off of Tox forest, you are talking about the island in Erud's crossing.

This quest is great if you need some cash. I went to the island in Erud's Crossing and looted about 16 greater lightstones and 20 lightstones. I made around 170 platnium from selling the lightstones to the cat lady on the island and then selling the greater lightstones to the Gypsy, and selling her the Concordance of Research. Great way to make some money!

Lightstones and greater lightstones are not needed for this quest. The concordance tome can be purchased from gypsies - NK, oasis and probly others. Also the rune books (if you really really need them) are for sale too. The only lightstones you need are the burned out ones for the "journeyman" level of the quest.

The LSs and GLSs are needed for the quest - if someone does the quest and sells the stuff back to one of the vendors, THEN you can buy them from the vendors.

This is a great quest for those around lvl 10. Killing the will-o-wisps in southern part of Qeynos Hills is decent money, decent exp, and fairly safe even alone. A collection of lightstones and greaters can be taken to Mrysila for more exp and money -- if you are careful in Karana. Go from lvl 10 to 12 pretty quickly.
