This group task begin with Whittle Rentorp who can be found in West Freeport at Loc 725, -1010. This is on a balcony overlooking the West side of the Town Hall.

    You say, 'Hail, Whittle Rentorp'

Whittle Rentorp says 'Shhh.. Listen closely. There will be a conference soon in the City Hall. I need you to [attend] the conference and look for any signs of skinwalking spies that may be lurking amongst the occupants.'

You say, 'I will attend the conference'

Whittle Rentorp says 'Excellent. Return to me with your findings and you will be rewarded. Remember to keep to yourself, and be watchful. They are lurking in the shadows, out in the center of town.. They're all around us and we have been none the wiser for centuries. We must find out what they are up to. I know they're up to something.. I'm just not sure what.'

You have been assigned the task 'Drachnid Spies'.

Enter Freeport's City Hall. The Freeport City Council has been gathering for another meeting, and sources indicate that there may be Drachnid Skinwalkers disguised among the patrons.

Enter Freeport' City Hall - Freeport West

The instance is entered by clicking on the front doors to the town hall building.

    LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
    You have entered City Hall.
Your task 'Drachnid Spies' has been updated.

Search for any signs of Skinwalker spies among the Freeport Council - City Hall

Someone must have a clue as to how to unveil the Drachnid Skinwalkers. Speak to the Council members and search for any possible leads as to the Spies identities.

The NPC who can help you will vary from task to task.

You say, 'Hail, Cabinet Trustee Lanith'

Cabinet Trustee Lanith says 'Have you seen Baldcester the Elder around before? Certainly looks unfamiliar to the likes of me, but my memory has grown hazy over the years.'

You say, 'Hail, Baldcester the Elder'

Baldcester the Elder says 'What are you doing here ____.. quickly, come with me..'

Baldcester then walks to the SE Room in the Hall.

You say, 'Hail, Baldcester the Elder'

Baldcester the Elder says 'Shh be quiet, before you're found. I've been on the lookout for spies at the meeting here..'

Baldcester the Elder says 'There are a few unfamiliar faces that stand out like sore thumbs. I'll need you to create some sort of diversion so that they can be confronted in the open.'

Baldcester the Elder says 'Here, take this. Place it near the stage - it's fairly self explanatory. This should clear out the riff-raff and give us the opportunity to take the spies out.'

Your task 'Drachnid Spies' has been updated.

You receive Bundle of Explosive Charges

Create a diversion to clear out the Council members - City Hall

Quickly, create a diversion to clear out the real members of the Council using this crate of explosives. Plant it near the stage, somewhere out in the open that won't yield any unwanted casualties.

When you get near the stage, a dialog will pop up inviting you to plant your charge.

The noise from the loud explosion sends the Council members fleeing towards the exit!

    Morward died.
    Galuld died.
    City Board Member Nema died.
    Giztok the Tinkerer died.
    Rayunn died.
    Freeport Panel Member Cilvara died.
    Councilmember Tima died.

    (oops!)

Confront the Skinwalkers - City Hall

You've done it! The council members are clearing out. The remaining foes must be the infamous Skinwalkers that have been lurking amongst the council for some time now. Bring them to their demise before they are able to escape.

Trilanta the Wicked says, 'Foul creatures, you think you can stop what has been set in motion for so very long? I hate to inform you that your futile attempt today will get you nowhere.'

Trilanta the Wicked says, 'For centuries, our kind has lived among you and you are none the wiser. Peasents (sic). Do you have any idea the power behind which you are dealing with?'

Trilanta the Wicked says, 'I will crush you. I will crush you all! Fall under my claw and perish forever.'

Defend City Hall from the infernal spies. Let none escape - City Hall

You must now face many waves of three and four skinwalkers attempting to flee the hall. A new wave will pop within seconds of the the last mob in the previous wave dieing, so use mez if you need a med break.

Mobs will be blue, even, and yellow:

    a drachnid spy
    a drachnid enforcer
    a drachnid skinwalker
    a skinwalker deviant
    a drachnid assassin
    an elite drachnid skinwalker

Occasionally there will be a named:

    Gurg the Deft
    Cull the Infiltrator
    Eridash the Defender
    Vank the Annihilator

Finally, red-con Trilanta the Wicked will attack:

Trilanta the Wicked says, 'You may have fought your way through my pitiful defenders, but you have no chance against me. The information gained here today will please the Queen greatly. Now I'm afraid I must be going, so if you will kindly step aside!'

Trilanta will Rampage and Enrage. He drops Head of Trilanta, and one piece of loot that can include:

    Chainmail Boots of the Avaricious

Return to Whittle Rentorp with proof of your success - Freeport West

Hand in the Head of Trilanta.

You have successfully killed off the last of Mayong's treacherous spies!

Your faction standing with Citizens of Freeport got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got better.
Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk got better.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better.
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr got better.
Your faction standing with Dismal Rage got better.
Your faction standing with Steel Warriors got better.

    Leather Tunic of the Avaricious

You say, 'Hail, Committee Member Jera'

This still appears to be broken, I also did not get the pop up box to plant the explosives after running all over the instance.

Mission seems to be borked at present. Requested the instance three times, each time I was unable to find the spot to place the box of explosives. The instance is a relatively small space, and instructions are to Plant it near the stage, somewhere out in the open. I covered every square inch of the instance and never got any sort of dialog pop-up. Never could find the sweet spot to plant it despite making laps around the stage area for an hour.

Wife and I dual 2-boxed this with the following:

55 warrior, 55 rogue, 55 chanter, 55 cleric. All with at least 100AAs 'cept for the cleric, who had 30.

This City Hall group task can be gotten at 55. Minimum level is not 65 or 70. This is instanced to the level of the group.

We only faced 5 waves and had to cancel the mission. With only 4 party members controlled by two players, the mission was too difficult.

1st wave was 3 mobs, a yellow, a white and a blue con. Easy enough.
2nd wave was 3 blue cons. Very easy.
3rd wave was Gurg the Deft who hit my 1400ac warrior for the mid 170s to low 500s.

The 3rd wave was tough. Healer ran out of mana just as he died and the chanter had little left. All mobs had high resistances, often requiring two or more casts to mez and slow.

4th wave was a yellow, white and blue con. Without any mana, this was interesting. One was an SK.

We zoned after the warrior went down. The mission remained active. The mobs waited inside. So "do not allow any to escape" really just means kill everything because none exited - they only attacked.

You can use the exterior alcove to the right of the Council door (facing the building) for any dark elf races that need to med. The patrolling good guys were just out of aggro range there.

We zoned in and out and took 1 mob at a time to allow the cleric to rez the warrior on the last as the chanter kept it mezzed.

The 5th wave was 4 mobs. 2 yellow spiders, of the SK variety (skelly pets). 2 dark elf attackers, 1 even, 1 blue.

The last wave became impossible for 2 2-boxers. We would zone in and the chanter would mez 1, switch to healer to cast a heal on the 20% tank (unslowed mobs) and the healer would get mobbed to death before the chanter could mez through the high resists.

It is possible 4 separate players could have pulled it off. But the cleric chanter box had to decide on slow, mez or heal when all 3 were needed at once.

Recommend at least 5 players single boxing for this instance. Later waves might require a full group.
fun and difficult just the way it should be
