Misan Rostenan may be found at the Wayfarers camp in Natimbi.
You say, 'Hail, Misan Rostenan' Misan Rostenan says 'Welcome, adventurous one. You wouldn't happen to be interested in a little [paranormal research] would you?' You say, 'What paranormal research?' Misan Rostenan says 'That is wonderful. There are some ruins on the other bank of this channel. They appear to be quite old and are covered in strange markings. It is my theory that they were some form of religious or supernatural ritual area. I don't know what happened, but there are ghostly sightings there nearly every night. I have been studying them but thus far have had no luck in gaining anything solid that I can bring back for extensive study. I have seen some strange essence left behind, however. If you could bring me a few of those, say four? It would be most helpful. I may even have a mace in it for you.' He needs 4 x Spectral Essence to complete the quest. Is this an Area damage weapon?
No. Single target instant cast proc, (although it also states LoS like most bolts. But, if you are in melee range it's doubtful this would be a problem).

i did my quest in ablout 1 hour ,did mine with my merc
After I handed in the 4 spectral essence I got this text from Misan Rostenan:

This quest info should be changed to DAYS. Nobody has or will do this quest in 4 hours.

Completed today at noon. Bout damn time.
Camp easily soloed by 61 war, 170 - 190 aas. I made 20 damn AAs at this camp. Definatly not 4 hours. Be prepared to spend weeks here.

Well, in TLP server took about hour clearing and voila, done :)
Happy 48 monk, used lvl 65 ranger with raid gear to clear camp, easymode, got 2aa

Just did this quest for a guildie, again, took 4 days to get all the drops, not 4 hours.
MQ'ed to my 46 BST.. took a while to get the 4 essences.. but since I was there to farm research stuff for my Necro, and was killing souls anyways.. was a nice little bonus.

The minimum level for this quest is most likely 1, but i completed it at 43 via MQ. Main turned in 3 essences and alt turned in 1 ( both are on the same account ).

have only given 3 Spectral Essences and he gave me the Mace anyone confirm?
What happened is someone before you and since the last patch had given him one , either just by itself or an extra they had for some onknown reason. Either way it was to your good. It is still required four but can be MD'd like the Kiki book.

today i started the quest and about 4hrs later i was done the spawn time rotaiton was slow for me but compared to other posts i think i got lucky hope you all do the same

I have a lvl 62nd warrior and he just got the mace today and it was procing like crasy. He is also weilding a Copper Hammer of Striking in his primary, and the mace of focused flame in hid off hand its a great combo atm.

I camped the items to get this mace. for my 48sk. and I Have to say its a great hammer for him, it proc's all the time. at most 2-3 a battle
Is it as good as The Golden Pick? You get to keep that, I learned, by putting it in your bank before handing in the three sets of ores to Ordunn the Miner.
this is pretty cool, since you dont have to spend ur coins on other weps, i think i might just sell mine and do this quest with my 65 shammy friend.

I went over with a 62 Warrior, 63 Warrior , 65 Cleric and 65 Shammy. It took about 4 hours to collect 4 "essence" and we got the rare drop necklace from the named Restless soul (sells for about 60K on Lany's). If you need a good 1HB ... this isn't too bad !

--- Ive camped souls for totally different reasons- for a grand total of about 30hrs. I think I have destroyed 7-8 and turned in 4 and not looted others. Tis a quest-- QUEST -- camp it. You'll get it eventually.

anyone know if this can be MQ'd? maybe hand in 2 essence and someone else hand in 2 and they get the mace?

My firend got 3 essences in 15 mins and didnt get the next one until the third day lol and i got 2 in 10 mins and still havent seen one since well going on 6 hours now. The graphic is like a copper hammer of striking for those of you who care lol

Been doing this quest for about 2 days now. Im a level 54 bst, but cant solo these things, so i hang around some ppl who are after the other drops and see if one drops for me (with their consent of course). Long story short: first day 2 essences, second day and waiting for 7 hours.... none. That was a very long day.
These mobs should be solo-able by anyone in the 50s depending on gear since the last patch (ie: today!!)
Funny how the thing up their says Estimated Time 2 hours I take it this isnt true... and Im prolly out on a limb seeing as how im fully disapointed that Things are stronger than i tho for a lv 54 (tho theyd have like 50 level places and then like higher but i guess not...)and I was also shocked to see the monsters got so close to the camp but anyways lv 54 prolly couldnt right..? without help
Well, I spent a good 3 hours in this camp, saw the Queen at least 4 times and only one of the essence dropped for me and not one named spawned (unless someone pulled while I was fighting something else.) I think Sony did their old trick of making things drop and spawn more frequently the first couple days in a new expansion and then nerf it a little after that. Was a good camp tho. Took my lvl 49 cleric there for exp and she got all of lvl 49 and safely into lvl 50 before we left the camp.
Thought I'd help out here. Duo'd the camp with a druid for quite some time, paid attention to what pops where, and what dropped the item.
Here is the secret... Watch the game clock, at midnight game time an extra spawn appears near the flat platform at the bottom of the stairs, opposite from where the rest pop. This is the one that drops the essences. In my whole time there from about 6AM to midnight, not a single one dropped, and we kept the whole camp cleared the whole time. Midnight that extra one popped, and bam, essence. Cleared the whole thing none, on the extra one's pop, again the essence dropped.
Was able to get three in one night, next night got my last one. Head there around 10PM game time to camp it, you're camp will be much shorter at that one spot. Pretty nice xp for a mid-50s group btw, and the named that pops there a couple times every EQ day in any spawn point has some nice drops.

Sadly, this didn't work when I tried it lastnight. I had the camp totally clear at midnight gametime (easily gauged since the Cragbeast Queen pops at midnight).
Midnight came...
...and nothing happenned. NO extra pop, no nothing. Sort of odd actually - the quest text does seem to hint about night spawning, though that could just be semantics.

Well, this feller was the first one I hailed. He said he had a mace. I thought that maybe since it was "paranormal research" that maybe the 1hb int casters could use it. As I found out. I cant. So I have another weapon trophy. Still it was exp, and got some neat items from the named that spawns pretty regularly in the camp.
Ok, what I have found. The pieces drop mainly from the ones that spawn at night. My mage is level 65 and it only dropped from ones that were dark blue con to him. I got a piece every 4 clearings. Although I do not put this forth as a %. I lost some of the mobs to people who ran through. Also lost some mobs to a couple of folks who would wait till I engaged a mob and then take one. Of course I got the "Sony doesnt recognize camps" answer so I left it at that. If any of the mobs I lost had the drop I do not know.
Not a bad camp though. Stay on the side of the camp with your back to the water facing the wayfairers camp. It is best to pull them to here because there are no wanderers. However be careful lots of people run through this camp (FOLLOW THE WALL MORONS), so you could easily find the whole camp pulled down on top of you.
Good luck. It is a nice hammer for the fact the only real thing to get it is time.

Be prepared for a long and painful camp on this one. The Spectral Essence drops from the Restless Souls, but does so in what could only be called an 'Extremely Rare' ratio. In 3 hours of steady camping and killing (keeping in mind there is a steady rotation of some 5-7 Resless Souls), only 2 Spectral Essences drop.
