Gates of DiscordThis camp sucks ... But the Mace rocks. I set aside three days to collect my essences , and ended up getting the last three on day three , very early in the AM. If you start this quest , you better be ready to gut it out. Total time spent here was at least 14-15 hours.
Buffs were ..... Virtue/Focus/Boar/Wrulan/KEI and my own. Fully buffed with pet gear and haste (potions) you can work both sides of the camp easily. GL

I did this quest about a year ago, then just finished it today. Took me 5 days for all the drops but got a decent pile of AA in the process. Did it with a 51 Monk/Merc combo + 73 Warrior to hold off aggro.
But I will second this original post. Be prepared to spend a few days here. It took me 1 more day longer to do the Coldain Insignia Ring quest, just to put it into perspective.

Can a 45 solo this quest? If so, i have nto tried yet. Willing to try though.

I submitted a current screenshot reflecting augment slot type 4 now, and with an updated description of the spell effect. The Damage Bonus: 8 in the screenshot is based on a level 50 user.
The Bolt of Flame triggered by this weapon is not exactly the same as the mage spell of the same name. The mage spell can do up to 297 dmg while the proc on this mace caps at 156 dmg.
When equipped, the mace looks identical to the Copper Hammer of Striking. I just love the little face on the striking surface of these =)

Been soloing those things with my necro. Ashame none of my toons can use this mace. I might as well do the quest though, might give me a hair of exp and faction?

Either I got lucky, or the drop rate has been increased. I got this mace within about a couple hours after the first spectral essence drop and discovering this quest. I find it a decent off-hand with my barbed knuckleblade in primary.
Can you MQ this where one toon turns in some of the essences and the other turns in the rest? I looted a spectral essence w/ my druid today.

The drop rate on this is horrible been at camp for 5 days average time each day is 4 hrs and only have 2 of the essences drop its not all bad had named spawn many times and my beast grouped with my 66 shaman , went from 47-50 and made about 2k in loot and got the 20hp aug but come on i want the hammer allready.

I have camped these damn things for over 18 hours now with my 58 BST, and some guildies, and have just now gotten 2 of the 4 essences. What are u people smokin to say they drop easy? i have talked to MANY people, and its minimum of 1 drop per hour, on the most rare of occasion.
What server are u people on that are gettin the drops so fast? i gotta complain...

Unfortunately, I get them quite often with my necro who can't use them - I've seen them drop at least 1 per hour, killing 1 soul every 4-5 min on average considering respawn time
i play a 67 shaman as well as a 55 warrior. Really, soe actually does a decent job balancing items they can get. If all casters could use melee stuff, then classes would become over balanced. Also how would u like it if some of those sweet proc wepons that most casters get were all/all.

Yes you can. I and many in my guild have done this for many alts that have yet to reach 45. You just have to loot the Essences with the alt. We did it simply by MQing.

No one has mentioned it, but this is also a major source of light. Got mine yesterday. Procs like mad for me. I'm lovin it.

I did this quest in a few short hours. This has to be one of the easier quests to do if you are a higher level. Four of the same drop and do the turn in, can't really get much easier for such a nice weapon. I have this with my ranger epic and it procs all the time, at least 2-4 times per fight.

Do you have to be 45 to do this quest? I was going to hand in 3 on my Sk and 1 on my Rogue.

Nope you don't have to be 45 to do the quest, just to equip the mace... I've MQ'd 4 of these now all to toons approaching 45.
Quest seems to take ~3-12 hours to get all 4 spectral essences.
BTW, this hammer procs like mad even when wielded off-hand. A must Quest for melees

This being a 1HB weapon, why aren't cleric's included on the list of classes that can use it I wonder? Could this be a mistake, or is there some sub-class of 1HB weapons that Clerics can't use? If so, why?
There are no caster classes that can use this weapon, although most are able to use 1 handed blunt weapons. There is another quest that is available for another reward for casters (Kiki's Recipie Book) that no melee or hybrid can use.

I am a Ranger and I wana use the Cleric Epic, common I died enough to be able to have one plz I want one. Stupid game not alowing other classes to not be able to have a click stick.

my cleric melees can't tank but when i got kei and a slower in the group im always at FM so im in there hiting the thing
Just because you melee, does not make you a melee CLASS.
Cleric is priest class, just like druid and shaman. No priest class, nor int casters can use this.
If you are below 56, and want a nice proccing weapon, get soulstripper. If you are above 56, as the other poster mentioned, the summoned hammer is better.

Just use yer Hammer of Damnation.. that thing is superior to this weap for you guys anyways ;)

just got this and have had no prob with line of sight on the proc. it hits hard and fast for me, 55 rng. took about 2 days to get three essences and then someone who had one and couldnt use the mace mqed it for me, thanks Tiamaat. then went on to kill in natimbi for another 15 hrs and saw 5 essences drop. 3 of which were in an hour. saw one talisman of the spritcharmer drop (lost roll, grats Tiamaat). also was able to forage only 3 broken shore shells and severle hundred lbs of different kinds of meat. from plat off restless souls and selling the meat to vendor to get rid of the weight and keep killing i made about 600p in the time i was there, not to shabby. hrs and 3 1/2 aa pts later i finally had to go to bed so its a great camp imho. will be back asap and have no problem camping this place great reward and planes like exp for a lv 55.

Agree 100%, mq'd this at 55 with a guildie necro who was camping here for the rare FT 1 item any can drop. Good exp, good forage, decent plat, got the mace in only 2 hours, and a type 7 +20 hp aug off a named spirirt.
Mace for ranger with epic is incredible dps for our level, proc never has broken charm or mezz of nearby mob, and the proc rate is insane 2-5 times per mob in velks solo. Will generate modest aggro (have lifetap in swift off hand) but nothing "jolt" can't cure.
Looks very sim or identical to copper hammer, white mace with ridges.
So unless guild is raiding SSRa or equiv or your racking in LDoN points this is a very good weapon to go for, and easy enough camp. Still using at level 58 and will contimue to do so till something better omes my way !

Beware of the MQ, I use my 62 druid too get the essence, I had him loot 3 and had my 51 sk camp at the souls camp to grab the last one needed,

That can be true in any case. I never MQ items 3:1, I always do it 2:2 or 1:3, as too many pepole like being idiots and messing up the items held in Queue (which should be 0, but some fools put 1 or 2 in it, messing things up when you try to MQ it).
If you can, always MQ no more then 1/2 the thing, to account for the possibility the NPC has some of it (which is impossible to tell).

LOL, having 2/2 is better odds sure, but as one who got Kiki's Recipe Book after turning in the FIRST one towards a MQ and getting the Strand of Sea Pearls (at least I CAN use that if I want) after turning in 2. Best bet in my book is to wait until after a patch if you know one is coming up =) The odds are a lot lower that some wingnut messed it up for ya..

does this proc interrupt bard songs? i know the copper hammers proc does but the gomdurig doesnt...just wondering if this would stop my twisting. thanks :)
No proc interrupts twisting. The casting bar will disappear, but if you wait, the song will still activate ;)
I was worried about that with my friends bards' Stone Etched Mallet and Sword of Primordial Power. The bar would disappear, so I'd stop song, and then re-sing.. When I later found out, if you wait, it keeps going ;)

I was using this weapon on a high-priority raid with my guild which requires heavy mezzing, unbeknowst to me who has never played a mage flame bolt is a Line of Sight spell and woke up a mezzed mob resulting in my HUGE embarrassment and boot from the raid, =( just beware, you can proc on group members and other mobs=/
You wont do damage to your group members (unless you are on a red server) but it still means that the proc wont land. I had this problem with my beastlord. On high melee LDONs (which for me is most of them) my proc would get intercepted by other players about 50% of the time. I ended up bagging the mace, saving it for while soloing.
Wow, another almost neat, but not, weapon by EQ. Dual weild this, and sword of skyfire, and be the bane of enchanters everywhere.
Nah, difference is that Skyfire is an AE rain spell and you really shouldnt have aproblem with this since you will be righ tin the face of the mob and MA or MT should be pulling mob slightly away fomr mezzed mobs. They shouldn't be stackedon top of each other.
Usually, but sometimes you don't have the luxury of time and a good tank ;)

I dual wield this with the Sword of Skyfire....as mentioned b4....all u have to do is pull the mob you want away froom the mezzed mobs....do it all the time not that hard and i never have a problem....and i proc constantly if this thing doesnt proc...Sword of Skyfire does.....im soloing mobs in Dulak with 45 warrior....with my other weapons wouldve been harder...I love this thing.....good stats...good proc....good dmg/delay....unless your raiding Ssra as mentioned earlier you arent going to find anything better without paying alot....easy quest just collect 4 essences and turn in...Good exp decent items.....if your lucky ull find the FT1 item....GL out there....

I completed this quest solo in about 5 hours. Drops are rare. I was able to pick up a nice FT1 neck item also from here, which sold for 100k as soon as I threw it on my mule. Very good risk/reward quest.

Lol my guildmate got 3 essences in 15 mins and didnt get the last one until 3 days later i am now on my second one and almost done with my first AA, and to top it off got a nice hat from the named. All in all a great camp, good luck

I got this today with a group of 58 warrior (me) 65 Shaman and a 65 wizard 3 hours. Im happy with it so far. It does proc a little slow. Im hopping it gets better at that with the new proc aa. I guess we'll see.

First GoD quest I completed. Spent lots several nights in a row camping essences when they were avialable. Struck out first few nights on any drops last night got all 4 though, was very happy with the reward. Next night I finished Kiki's quest. 2 quests left to finish in the zone. Managed to kill many named several times in the process :)
