Just killed with 49 druid and 53 cleric (with tank and rogue mercs). Also had a skirmisher add through the entire fight, very easy. Dropped Shissar scales, Song: Chorus of Replenishment, Zherozsh's Ring and Zherozsh's Key.
Either they upped spawn rate or I am just lucky. Cleared 2nd floor once (all the areas that I could get to) and he spawned. Iirc, Comm1 spawned well for me as well, but that was a while back.
In the time it took me to get a key for my three main box's, on the very last commmander kill in Com 2 (South) I recieved a white silk bridal for my Monk yesterday (3/4/07).
Easy solo for 70 Druid 7.5K HP, 8K Mana, 950 AA's. He popped in the Tube room on 2nd floor right in the center. Had been clearing the room on and off for a couple of hours. Drew him with DoT, added 3 more, hit Spirit of the Grove and Natures Guardian and meleed. Never got below 85%HP. lasted less then 40 secs
I've camped Right Comm1/Comm2 for hours and no spawns. Last night, a guildie was bragging, he got both Comm's spawned (got emp pieces) got taskmaster's pouch, and the Ssra shard all in about 30 minutes. GRRR
I was lucky enough to find this guy up and was able to easily solo him. He had a max hit of about 370, was slowable, and the fight lasted about 4 minutes. I am now the proud owner of an Emp Key. Really the worst part of the fight was pulling him, I used my pet to pull and didnt get any adds, I ended up clearing the tube area downstairs and killing him down there.
Took this guy down with a Monk and a Warrior(both 65). Monk had around 180 AA's, Warrior about 20. Warrior went in with Virt, both had self DS around 40pts.
We ended up fighting this guy in the column of water. Monk took agro first, using Riposte discipline, then after monk was worn down on life and mend had been used, warrior took agro, popped Riposte(with 2hs), then Defensive. Then Mighty Strike(with two 1 handers) after going berserk.
Warrior ended with around 5% hp left.
Used the same strategy on the guy who drops the Idol.
The Monk pulled see invis mobs out of the way to get the warrior in to position(warrior had invis clicky). Managed to pick off the two commanders without touching another mob in the entire place.
This was a pretty exhilarating night; hoping to do it again to get an Idol for the warrior.
Spent 14 hours camping all of Com1/Com2. Killed everything on floor two. Killed everything down near the tubes. Got 1 Com1 to spawn and 3-4 Com2's.
This quest really stucks. And from what I hear the gear in Emp and VT isn't as good as elemental planes.
If Emp and VT weren't required for EP guilds, I'd say forget the quest entirely. This is 10x worse than epic camps. Because for an epic, they're long camps but only 1 person needs. Here you have a full group where almost everybody needs. By the time you get your pieces (if you win them in a roll), you're so burnt out on the camp you don't want to help any body else.
The other rare drops. Perhaps should promise them to people who are already keyed in the event that they do drop. The camp sucks sooo bad that it's hard to get help unless the person needs the Emp Key drop. If they need it they will come. But then you have to share a roll. At least on rare epic drops, it isn't something that every class will need.
I've never seen anything but the Idol or Ring drop on a Commander and have probably killed 50+ in getting 2 toons keyed.
WEnt there last night with my guild group me 53 paladin a 65 rouge a 65 bard a 65 cleric and a 65 paldin we went into the elevator room pulled back and rouge found commander we killed him and he dropped the key the spell for me and an idol All and all GREAT time there great loot and SUPER xp
HEH Emp is the bottle neck to VT, if you don't have alot of time to camp the Key then you shouldn't be trying to get to VT. Just Clearing to Nameds there takes hours.
Spent 14 hours in Right Comm 2 today camping this guy for our group 4 of us needed the ring and we got 3 spawns in 14 hours (and I thought epic camps were bad 8`/ ).
figued we killed about 180 snakes tonight trying to get this bad boy to pop, and not a single pop by this guy. sucks because last night we cleared the tunnel room once and got a pop right away. his spawn is too rare, they should at least make the pop to the number of snakes you kill a little more realistic for people who dont wanna spend 5 hours doing this. hell, theyre making expansions tailored to the player that doesnt have forever to play, think maybe they should do the same to the rest of the zones? it really blows not being able to kill the guy youre after at least once before you have to go =\
Hey guys, I was just wondering how often this Commander dude drops the Silken Bridles. I have some RL friends that could really use some horses, not to mention that these are the 75k horses so if I happened to turn it in and sell it, I would prolly get about 60k profit just from trying to get a Emp. key.
After killing comm1 and comm2 commanders for guildies I have seen only one horse bridle drop for around 100 commanders. Maybe our luck is worse than normal but the horses are rare drops in my opinion. Not to mention that the spawn is downright uncommon as well.
I have the black silken bridle. It is a rare drop it seems as I have farmed the Commanders for months now helping key people. These horses can not be sold to vendors, sorry bro no $ in it for ya.
Actually, you can turn in the bridles to the stable boys in the Bazaar (each one of the boys corresponding to a horse color, just hail them to know). They will give you a bag of platinum in trade, that you can sell back to any NPC vendor.
For a tan rope-horse (9k-ish) I got like 5k upon reselling the bag of platinum.
Definitely not rampage, and I don't remember seeing flurry. He was fully slowable without having to malo so he's not too MR. I'd rate him in the easy category for our little group. Calli LD'd right before he was pulled, so we fought him with no problem with a 65 ranger, 65 cleric, 62 shaman, and 65 monk. Your mileage may vary but if the gar can tank, you know it's not too bad.
They are random placeholder spawns. There are two camps that I am aware of on each floor for each commander (Zazuzh = first floor, Zherozsh = second floor). Kill all the mobs in the tube rooms and eventually you will get a commander. Average 2-3 hours killing PH's per commander spawn, sometimes you get luckier.
