These things SUCK!
# Aug 16 2004 at 9:04 PM Rating: Decent
Raided Akheva tonight and though I'd post my 2 cp of Helpful info on these things because to me, as a cleric, they seemed to be worth noting.. Not sure about them being spawned in any sort of trap as our raid force was easily capable of dealing with most everything we encountered along the way (29 people, average level of 62, no Time flags, few Ele flagged, if any). We were engaged with a couple of the lifedrinker type mobs and the tanks/melee were taking a moderate amount of damage, nothing heavy, when Bam! like 4 of these spawned out of nowhere and started attacking various clerics, Brell be praised that the tanks were able to handle themselves because once clerics got heal agro, almost instantly, from these things, we all went from near Full mana to invariably low mana Very very quickly, there was a bit too much to tell exactly what they did (effects, etc) but my conclusion was that they had Definitely affected all our mana pools. Didnt halt or kill our raid but was worth noting for ANY groups attempting to explore Akheva. These things indeed DO suck! ..your mana!
Where do is Spawn?
# Jan 22 2003 at 3:30 PM Rating: Default
Basic question here... where in Akheva Ruins do they spawn? Way in the back to the right?
#Ttarkatt, Posted: Jul 07 2003 at 5:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The ruins are off of ME at the right wall as you zone in. Never been inside the ruins due to hearing you need a key but not verified yet. Pretty ansty place I've heard. As far spawn point I'm sorry I don't know that part....yet.

Fought lots of these yesterday in Akheva. Tough fight - those woms don't seem to stay in one place. Yes, they are called mind borrowers, but they are still worms :) After spawning they start wandering about. At 53, they were all white/yellow to me. Thankfully, I did not get too many resists on mezzes. Over an hour going non-stop, cause whenever we killed one, there would be at least one mezzed add waiting. It literally rained spell drops. Mind worm hides are uncommon but not too rare. Got about 4/5 out of maybe 40 or so worms (lost count)
If you want to hunt those and don't have a good force (we had about 15 people in 51-62 range) I suggest you stay out of their general area and pull to a corridor by one/two. Bring a good enchanter, too.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 21 2002 at 3:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Damage you take from a mob depends on what your AC is and AGI... so saying someone's wrong about the hits they've taken isn't entirely true. None of you are lying ( Except the 62 Wizard because until today you couldn't be that level. Wake up brudda. It's ok... just a good dream ) . So when a Paladin says he's been hit for about that damage it's true... and if another posts he's been hit for that damage... it's true. Let's all get along and have a good day.
#UnitedGuardian, Posted: Jul 20 2002 at 7:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I got one of these last night -- July 19th 2002 off of a Xi Vius i believe it was on the Morrell Thule. Dropped this and i think a shrouded medallion.

ok, forgive, i guess i am kinda a newb or something, only 53, but i like to have my spells the lvl before i ding, and i just happen to notice that this guy drops 3 pally only spells and another pally spell, thats a total of 4 of our spells, so is it worth buying these for insane amounts of money, or just wait till high enough a lvl and start grouping him. or does it require a raid? just curious, fill me in when you get the chance

Pally spells drop from the mind burrowers(not worms), you can do them with a single group. They summon, hit around 250 fast, etc. fairly high MR tash helps b4 slow. Cant remember but pretty sure they are unstun/mezzable, but are charmable so lvl is as low as 53.

The mind Worms pop from traps, 2-3 at a time, the mind burrowers that drop spells roam a distinct area to the right. from the fallen pillar, go right down hall to the stages. then go right again, the burrowers are at the end of that hall.

Side note, the stages area is decent xp grind even to mid-upper 50's, fast spawns and with a good group you can clear the stage area and the hall towards the burrowers, and even pull 1-2 burrowers after that. Also sometimes some named centis spawn there with phat (but rare) lewtz.
good hunting

ok, at first some things about this worms. lvl starts from 50+. second they see invis. they can summo u. they rob of all ur mana. they hit up to 200 and double. let monk pull them because sk will die fast if they add and summo and leech ur mana. if u loose control on pull dont bring this terror worms to ur grp, better die where u are and let someone summo ur corpse !

/agree, but you are talking about mind burrowers, not mind worms, the mind worms come usually in a handy 3-pack from a trap, the mind burrowers that see invis are down a couple hallways to the right.

I think they spawn more than 3 from the trap. And when they do, they are all superposed, making it hard for an enchanter to mez all of them separately. Better have Fascination (aoe mez) up and keep casting it while the group kills them one by one. Those nasty mind worms can eat your mana fast, and once oom...

Was lucky enough to be with guild doing these bad boys last night, we were making our way around the entire place.

Tried using regular nukes on these at first, but was getting alot of partial resists (i.e., not hitting for full damage). Druids were saying the same thing, not hitting for much. So I switched to lures, full damage every time. Both fire and cold based lures worked on these guys.

They are fun, mana drain with other nice anti-caster damage :o) If you are looking for something different, here is the place to be.

A full group and I worked our way back here one day, and as a 52 sham one of these conned yellow to me.. The SK was pulling, and died once because of the mana taps(the SK claimed the max hit was 147, and they tap your mana for 300 every other hit.. Best to get a monk to do this one, and not a class that relies on their mana to feign death.).. We killed one or two hoping for spells, but got none.. Killing them isn't hard, getting them solo is. Expect to be fighting at least 2 the first time, maybe 3.. After the initial breaking in you should be OK.

None the less a serious miss con. The worms are intresting enough to pull, add the fact they come in pairs or 3's or if your unlucky enough to get the roamer make that 4. If ya dont have a good puller have a good enc. Average of 3 a pull pulling max range with a 60 war. They can be mezzed, just very resistant and have caused problems. There attack is a proc- leech of mana, so Imo best group that Ive been in so far with these has been war, cleric, bard, enc, rog, necro, (/sigh dont know many monks up on the moon). Have the necro start blasting the enc off the pull because the proc on these leeches me for 15m a shot. Bard can occ and can charm these as well. Again if ya dont have a Monk that knows whats going on, dont bother or have a enc that can handle = to king in seb. Lastly they do have alot of hps, about 3 times as much as the centis that roam around. So all in all on the topic of level, Maybe 46. /shrug, all I can say is alot of hps for that level.

drops: Some int dagger that /bleh and spells, seems the times Ive been there the ranger spells seem to be the most frequently droped, followed by SK. Besides that Pali lvl 56 *I think* group heal, and bard AoE does drop there as well. Again I dont know if it is set drops, but from what I have seen ranger seems to be the most prevalent, or my luck just sux in spell drops.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 19 2002 at 7:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lvl is 55+ cause some of em are yellow to my 53 enc
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2002 at 4:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Different mobs, mind worms are triggered by traps, the ones you're talking about are the mind burrower that can be pulled from deeper inside, and are yellow to red to me (52 cleric).
