Got a Red Dragon Scale for my Warrior tonight. Was easy, 64 cleric and 65 warrior (me) duo'ed it. Cleric was at 50m at end of fight. Used the Infusion of the Faithful Veteran Reward and my warrior was resisting the tap almost every time. When it did land, i think the max was around 540 dmg. Thanks, hon for helping me get it :)

If aimed propperly,

I've heard quite a few people tell me you can land in the water and not take the falling damage. But worst comes to worst, a cleric can jump down with divine aura on and then rez those fallen?

Does he still drop this since the revamp of this zone?
Druid Track
# Oct 19 2004 at 5:19 AM Rating: Decent
With 125 tracking (Standard 65 Druid max) I could track him from p305, n240. Which is a point past the constructs, in through the stone arch and about halfway through the first tunnel heading into the city. Invised the whole way. Some Constructs and the Gargoyles on the stone walls can see invis, but are out of agro range unless you ***** up in a most humorous way.
Easy

Killed him today with 65 enc and 65 bard. I played the enc who has some time gear, and botted the bard who has pre elemental gear. He went down slow, but easy. Ended fight with half hp, and half mana. No healing of any kind was used, just natural regen. Gather mana still up =)

Soloed him a few times. He procs his lifetap nearly every round, but with 450mr it never landed full, and I got total resists about 50% of the time. Did it without HT, beat that alano~
Too much force

Nortlav the Scalekeeper
# Jun 07 2004 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
Nortlav was killed when he attempted to take on Master Yael for a second time.

I just wish we could be around to see all this lore take place :)

Anyone have any tips on taking out Echo of Nortlav?

He lifetaps continually for 1500hp's, melee's for around 200. He has high hit points and regen.

I am thinking that..
1 chanter to rune MT (9K+ HP)continously
2 clerics casting fast heals
1 druid doing seconday healing
2 enchanters casting Sieve on him should drain his mana and some
3-4 Paladins with undead aa's
6-8 standard melee forces

sounds like a cut 'n' paste of

I would apply similar stratagies to this guy then

Decent tank, Enc for rune/MR, bard for mr song, couple dps. healed with a clr and druid, lifetap resisted acouple times, didn't cast that often. I'm sure we coulda dropped the druid healwise, mana was not an issue. not all 65 average was about 60, but tank, enc, clr were 65.
What happened?
# Jun 05 2004 at 3:04 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone know hoe he died? lol Cause I remember back when he " Nortlav the Scalekeeper " and he was tougher then. Just wondering if anyone knows what happened with the storyline in EQ and who killed this guy who suppose to have killed dragons in his time by himself?

Took him tonight with a group of 5 level 65s: Monk, SK, Bard, Druid, Cleric

With bard playing resist song I was able to get up to about 408 resist magic, and I was able to tank him easily with that (Im the monk). He was hitting for anywhere between 100 and 200ish, and with that high of resists he only hit me for about 700 with his lifetap. Overall, my group was not that well equipped and we werent really that prepared, but he went down in like 3-4 minutes, with no trouble at all. The cleric, doing only fast heals, lost all of 1 bub of mana.

Whichever place you jump into the hole from paineel.. it doesn't matter, you'll always end up zoning in from the same spot in the hole, dead center, over the ground, that's why you need DA to land properly. If the guardian of the seal isn't up, you probably won't get any aggro at all because the Echo of Nortlav is indifferent to all, he won't aggro on you. Don't go near the rocks that lead back up from the hole tho, there are 2 stone guardians on the other side that are VERY MR resistant, and hit for 248, there are also 3 roaming broken constructs that will occasionally come out of that boulder door.

I am Currently down here with my 52 Cleric, he is blue, therefore, he is NOT 52.. though I don't doubt he is near there..
what is his respawn?
# Jan 02 2004 at 3:25 AM Rating: Decent
Based on info obtained here, I used Divine Aura on my lvl 20 cleric & jumped into the pit. Three (3) times I did this and each time I landed w/o a scratch & w/o aggro. Just make sure you go all the way to the wall/dead-end as if you were going to go in Paineel & jump into the pit from there. Had my cleric sitting between dorm. watcher & Nortlav for 3hrs w/o a problem. Would appear roamer attacks if you go to Nortlav's left side (went there twice and roamer popped out for friendly hello within minutes)

As for Nortlav's respawn time, it is WELL under 24hrs. Guild killed him for red dragon scale (working on my 56 warrior's epic; he dropped one scale & one SK sword) about 8pm MST and he was up by 1pm MST the next day when I checked again with my cleric. Yet while we were down there (fought our way down & then back up after stopping by to visit Kirn)... maybe 3hrs... our ranger didn't pick him up again on her track.

Raid had approx 21 folks ranging from 51 to 65. Think the avg level was 59. We had two (2) folks casting non-stop runes on MA (65 pal) & he was never tapped. No deaths. Fast fight :) Will be going down there again soon as I think guild would like to start farming him for the scale :)

hope this helps!

The 1500 dmg lifetap that he procs alot, would be the answer. Other than that, yes he's a wimp. ;)

Nortlav the Scalekeeper is dead. Now, he exists only as a ghost named "Echo of Nortlav." The new guy procs a 1500-pt lifetap, and when/if killed, drops an SK-only weapon that has no race usuable, but he still drops red dragon scales.
RE: He's changed
# Aug 29 2003 at 2:33 PM Rating: Decent
The 1500pt Lifetap -- does he chain-cast it, like Nortlav did?
RE: He's changed
# Aug 30 2003 at 11:42 AM Rating: Decent
Its a proc, which means it is random.
RE: He's changed
# Sep 03 2003 at 8:16 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so he's still as bad as before then. I assume the strat is still close to the same as well -- hit him with cripple, and have a paladin there using /disc sanct.
RE: He's changed
# Sep 23 2003 at 7:45 PM Rating: Good
In Gdolur's log (soloed him as a 65 pal) he procced his tap 11 times in first 40 secs to give an idea of the rate.
RE: He's changed

From what i have read he still procs every round.

Did him with two solid groups ranging from a 55 pally to 4-5 lvl 65's. Me the 65 bst had a lvl 65 chanter rune and splash heals.

I pulled him with venom and chain casted it and never once lost agro, we had no deaths and the fight was fairly quick.

Dropped the red scale.
question
# Jul 18 2003 at 10:26 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know whats his respawn time?
its called agro!
# Jun 30 2003 at 1:00 PM Rating: Decent
I just spent the past 30 mins reading about how bad people think this mob is because the MA cant hold agro. The one post above from the 60 war obviously can and they had no probs... WHY on earth would a whole group get hit by his lifetap? They shouldnt... Let the MA do his job and stay out the hate list and it doesnt seem like there should be many probs.
RE: its called agro!
# Mar 03 2004 at 8:15 PM Rating: Default
with mobs like this that proc high life taps you need to kill them fast, hence most were probably throwing all they have at him early on in the fight to end it quickly. SK's or pallys make great tanks here if you can find one with 7k + HP
cap

I saw this guy kill 3 groups of 55 60 very quickly and after that he managed to kill 2 golems without going under 90 % -)) I dont know how golems aggroed him but he made short work of them too
This guild had less trouble with Yael than with him
