These mobs, and all of the boss content/raid targets for Classic and Kunark, are what we call "belly casters". That means you have to be right up against their belly - in melee range - for your spells to land on them. Don't waste your mana being out of range.

They do see invis and when i get them down to about 50% hp, they warp back to their posts and are somehow back at 100% hp. i find that strange considering they are warriors.

belly casters

seems like they all are belly casters. AKA need to be in melee range for spells to stick.
No toe drops><

Any word on how common diamond dust is?
New Timer
# Aug 22 2004 at 4:26 AM Rating: Decent
I soloed these without any problems. I have all defense done so that most likely helped and have epic... so they were slowed. Never resisted my cold nukes, fire was always resisted (of course). Seems these are on a new timer with the change of the VP zone. They are respawning every 5 hours or so. Don't have exact time yet. But that is the best estimate I got for now. Good luck.
Bah!

I was helping out with a Naggy raid when I came across the FGs and wanted to try soloing them as a lvl 65 Mage w/Epic so I went back the next day. The first two at the gate were Lt/Dk Blue respectively and my Epic pet couldn't keep up with them. Any spells not cast in melee range were resisted and they just smacked me around when I did get within melee range. Guess the only thing to do was heal my pet but I needed a full mana bar, so I Gated after a few PoP heals.

I don't want to simply walk away from a fight but these guys are a tough solo unless I'm doing something drastically wrong. Maybe next time I'll try the WoX the usual armour and toys. Are these punks the same class as the Permafrost Giants?

At least the FG Warriors are extremely Magic Resistant. Even after tash, I wasted nearly a whole bar of mana and not one spell landed for either me or my druid.

They will resist most or all spells if you're
not in melee range. If you walk up to them
and get in melee range, your spells have a
much better chance of sticking.

Fun
# Mar 11 2003 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
My friend and i needed a break from exp grinding so we wandered around in here and made our way up to the fire giants. At the time i was a 58 rogue and she a 58 cleric. We decided to give them a go and I tanked the first two at the entrence to the FG area at the same time. After getting hit by PoP mobs these guys are weenies. Apart from the fight taking along time (just me fighting), I was surprised at how easy they were. We had some weird pathing and ended up fighting them twice in a row because they warped back to there reg spots with full hp.
All in All it was fun.

After lvl'ing up my bard in LDON to lvl 57 so far and occasionally getting mobs that are un-charmable, un-mezable, un-snareable, immune to calm; then I was cautious when I approached these with a 61 cleric and 60 ranger. We immediatly had 2 on us and I tried mez.. nope, tried charm.. stuck on warrior type. /pet Attack and sic'd it on the wizard that the ranger was fighting. Turned on my replenishment song and had a seat watching the battle. Had to recharm once only, after that I decided to keep the war as my pet and did recharms while we fought other stuff around there. Charm lasted much longer than it did on the spider pets I made and the giant war hit much better in melee too. EZ fighting except for his size. Makes me wish I had the tiny companion spell that my dru does hehe.

I'd like to go in and raid these guys all the way up to naggy, but I've never been part of a FG clearing group. How many are there? What is the best strategy to use to take them out?

RE: Named FG
# Aug 25 2002 at 9:45 PM Rating: Decent
The Named FG Neiroth is part of the Galeweaver quest. The tough part for this guy is the number of FGs around him.
RE: Named FG
# Aug 29 2002 at 11:41 PM Rating: Default
I need to kill neiroth so im looking for any infor involving him or the giants around me that would be useful to know. Never hunted the giants except on naggy raids so im totally new to that area.

As i learn things i will post here.

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 15 2001 at 2:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Are throwing boulders a range weapon and if they are how well do they do?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 26 2001 at 3:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, Verant. How lame is it that you have to be in melee range to cast on these suckers. What is the purpose behind that? On a Nagafen raid you can only get so many people close to one of these things and now the casters have to squeeze in there, too? LAME
Need toes?
# Sep 01 2000 at 1:10 PM Rating: Good
If you need the fire giant toes for the mage focus item, go to the Ocean of Tears and kill Gornit, a named hill giant that randomly drops hill giant, ice giant, fire giant and cyclops toes.

A lot easier than fighting fire giants!

# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Hit in excess of 130, have thousands upon thousands of hit points. They drop plat, toes and throwing boulders...lots of boulders.
Actually...
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Good
Every FG drops 4 throwing boulders =)
