Chipped Bone Bracelet

FYI the Chipped Bone Bracelet dropped today on Agnarr from a regular shaman at this camp. It's in their loot table on Zam, but when you view here: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=809 it doesn't say it drops from regular shamans - so that needs updating.

For those interested I spent 15 hours over 3 days here to get 1 bracelet...

I'm showing it drops from an ogre shaman in West Karana on the item page. Which regular shamans does it drop from?

My dark elf chanter has whacked this guy enough times on the way by to revenge most. Maybe not the smartest faction move but fun.

Pretty sure I got bone legplates off him the last time I killed him (a few weeks ago), never had much luck gettting the focus drops.

ok so i'm new only been playing a few months , went and tried to get batfang headband from him for the focus effect it has , Anyways i can solo him as a 44 cleric no trouble.
Buff up at end of dirt road then med till full , walk towards tree near camp just as u pass the tree Chief will come at u alone (he is on other faction to the rest) Run back cast instill on him, as soon as it goes off hit with second biggest nuke then stun then biggest nuke , forget pet for now , keep stuns and nukes going till he's dead then kill pet (pet green con to me).
have killed him about 20 times so far still no batfang drop , does he still drop it?

if you are looking for same focus of extended enhancement an easier mob possibly, but annoying to get to and camp is the drake in SolA.
The belt it drops has the same effect but no wis / mana on it, but good fire resist and dex.

He has a very long aggro and easily killed my unprepared 40 bst. First he put malosini or one of those type spells on me and chased me a little. Then he rooted and slowed me so i made a pet to draw aggro. It didnt work and he quickly killed me. Hope that info helped anyone.

Him and the ogre shaman became aggy when I cast harmony on them. Did this with my lvl 35 druid. Other friends have mentioned the same thing happening to them. He likes to root a lot so don't think you can run away easily. He spawns much faster than the ogre shamans and priestesses there.

I just spent about three hours camping these guys, killing them as they popped (not really much of a challenge for a 42 druid with KEI) and all i got for my time was a whole lot of negative faction, some rusty weapons, a fine steel morning star, and about 20 plat in total.

My advice to you, if you're looking for a place to farm, don't waste your time. Go back to runnyeye, gorge of xorbb, or guk, or even crushbone, they're all better than this camp.

Well I was in WK last night kiting bandits with my 9th lvl bard - and was getting eaten alive by the magic users. Decided to bring my 54 chanter down, kill magic users to make life little easier for my bard. Killed a couple of magic users and 10 seconds left in my log i decided hey what the heck - lets see if I can exact some long over due REVENGE on these guys. Pacified whole group, area mez'd chief and all close to him. (good to keep pet off) Two big nukes and a small nuke the chief was dead =). Killed rest of camp one at a time. felt good. Only plat dropped. Sat and camped them for 2 more spawns and received (1) bat skull earing, (1) chipped bone collar & (1) sepentscale belt. After selling the rest of the drops think I made about 25pp. To me not all that bad of time spent and REVENGE was sweet.

It gets mentioned below, but everyone else seems to be keen on killing chief.

Anyway, if you non KoS to him, this is what you get.

Chief Goonda judges you amiably -- what would you like your tombstone to say?
You say, 'Hail, Chief Goonda'
Chief Goonda says 'Greetings to you, Sininie. What business do you have with us? We are quite busy with the [enchantment of the stone].'
You say, 'what enchantments of the stone'
Chief Goonda says 'That is none of your concern! I do believe that you should be on your way.'

Currently working on faction to get ally, hopefully that will change the "none of your concern" to something else.

Faction
# Dec 13 2002 at 4:28 PM Rating: Decent
Ok this is how I *believe* that the factions work. All of the ogres EXCEPT FOR GOONDA are on a faction that everybody starts out amiable to. Goonda, I believe, is on Ogre Shaman faction. All of the other ogres will assist Goonda if he aggros on you, hence the confusion caused by the faction cons.

Killing one of non-goonda ogres gives you a faction hit with "Rallos Zek", sort of how killing the bandits in GFay gives you a hit with "Bristlebane". Killing Goonda gives you a faction hit with the ogre shaman guild (Shaman Of War or something) as well as a few others that escape me for the moment.

I'm going to head over there and try to get a CBB in about 5 minutes, so I'll see if that's what makes sense.
Killing Goonda

I am a Ranger who first encountered Goonda at level 35. He waxed me when I was helping a friend with a corpse run. Since then, I have made a point of killing Goonda. I have killed him so many times I lost count. Here is what information I have to share:

1. The shamen can see invisible. This is what occasioned my death the first time.

2. At level 35 I was able to kill Goonda with the help of a good healer. Later, around level 40ish, I took to soloing him. (I mention this for the benefit of those who wonder what level they should try him).

3. The ogres have a HUGE aggro range. The aggro range is longer than my harmony spell (although a buddy of mine says he used sneak and hide to get harmony off).

4. My preferred method of killing Goonda is to tag him with an arrow from maximum bow range. He and his pet, and sometimes others, will come running. Then I root Goonda and anything else that comes besides the pet. (This pet, by the way, runs very fast). I then back a good distance away from Goonda and kill the pet first. Goonda will heal the pet if you don't back up a good ways from where you rooted him.

5. After killing the pet I DoT Goonda and plug him with as many arrows as I can before the root breaks.

6. Then it's Goonda time. Goonda hits pretty hard and he will heal himself one or more times during the fight. You need to know this because if your health and his health are the same, you are probably losing the fight.

7. Goonda also has a root/snare and some other annoying spells in his ********

8. I try to conserve mana and drop in the dd spells once Goonda gets below half life.

9. After Goonda I kill the shamen or shamoness, then the guards.

10. The guards have a 200 dd spell (maybe a ht, but that's about the amount of damage it is whatever form it takes).

11. In terms of loot, your chances of getting something go in this order: Priestess (best chance of good loot), Shamoness, Shamen, Goonda (worst chance of good loot). The guards may drop fs, but nothing better.

12. The re-spawn time is approximately 20 minutes.

13. If you go to the ogre camp expecting a batskull or chipped bone bracelet on your first kill, you will likely go home dissappointed. To get those kind of drops, you need to camp the ogres for 3-4 hours. In that amount of time you should get a prize. I have made a lot of money at this camp. But it takes patience. And some days you have a dry spell. The thing I like about the camp is it is way off in the middle of nowhere, and if you want to camp ogres, people will let you.

14. The other mobs besides Goonda are much easier to kill than him.

15. If you stay to kill him more than once, you need to pull Goonda the second he pops before he can summon that darn dog.

16. A word about escaping. If you overpull you have a problem. This camp is a long way from any zone line. Plus there is some rough terrain and you can fall down with low hp and kill yourself that way (very embarassing). Keep sow and levitate refreshed. If you need to book, run up one of the nearby mountains to get altitude and then sky to keep them from tooling on you while you make your escape. You need to snare that dog before you start running though.

17. Tell Goonda Anlorn says hey. He and I are on a first name basis.
RE: Killing Goonda

I too am a Ranger who was looking for some new prey to get the old XP going again so I headed to the spot marked "Ogres" on my WK map (was also tracking a werewolf, which in hindsight would have been a better target). Anyway I am sneaking up on their little shrine, seeing about 5 assorted Ogres + Goonda, doing cons and being judged amiably by all when "BOOM" here they come, all of them with Goonda in the lead! I'm thinking "WTF, WTF, WTF, run, run, run", when they descend on me and each have a go, hitting me in the 30's and 50's. I get a con off on Goonda before the end and he is red (of course) and 'threatening', so I wonder what personal slight I perpetrated upon him or his family that went unnoticed by the rest of the Ogre race.

So for now "Goon"da will live on in my world until I return for revenge at some later time. From the previous post's reference to Harmony, I am thinking if the guy that did it got close enough to one of the guards to do Bind Sight, then Harmonized, this seems the most practical (read safest), way to reduce the aggro.

PS. He seems to have lost weight and gotten a better tailor since the picture on this page was taken.

Update to previous post.

Been back after this guy 3x since with the following results:

Lvl 37 - All guards green Goonda DB and Shaman LB. Cast Harmony, hit Goonda with snare, back up while recovering and cast DoT, prepared to turn him into a crispy pincushion with Nukes/Bow and notice he's running......curious? Too far from target? Back up re-click....oh the Shaman has joined our little party but no other adds. Got stunned, got rooted, got to know Goonda's knuckles better after he ambles up, you can guess the rest.
Lvl 36 - (After prev encounter). Guards still green (bonus). Cast root on Goonda, run away, snare Shaman, run away. Kill pet, go after Shaman, kill Shaman, go after Goonda, doing good, gonna taste revenge, got rooted, Goonda heals self.......bad sign. Rooted Goonda after 3 tries and ran thankfully SoW'd, but sorely beaten butt to zone.
Lvl 38 - Return with 39 Ranger friend, root Shaman, pull Goonda over the hill to waiting friend, snare, root, nuke, banzaii......Goonda's dead and drops nothing, kill pet as afterthought.

Multiple revenge kills are now less likely since I found Rathe Mts with an over-abundance of well-to-do Hill Giants just itching to be relieved of all that heavy coin.

Im a warrior 51 in all crafted except for gaunts ( Cobalt ) and some nice AC STR items. Buttom line, I left the Chief for last.

Full health, with Berserker strenght buffed on, He and his pet left me with 7 hp. And do you know what it droped? .. not even 10 F&*Y^T%R SILVER coins!!!!

SO if youre a warrior unless you are an OGRE or Barbarian. Do not take this guy as you will probably be able to kill it. But you may not have enough for his pet.
RE: 7HP left!
# Oct 27 2002 at 10:38 PM Rating: Decent
If you're level 51 going after Strength items, you have bigger concerns than soloing Chief Goonda.
RE: 7HP left!
# Nov 05 2002 at 11:07 PM Rating: Default
I agree with the above post. Why would you be fighting here? All mobs are green by your level and I wouldn't be bragging about wearing crafted armor at level 51! Finally, why oh why do people feel compelled to post 'war stories'? They rarely provide anything useful, like tips on tactics or information about the how the mob fights, and this one is no exception.

Now, for some useful information. I am a Barbarian Shaman and I came here to get the bone bracelets for my trade skill wisdom gear. (That's a set of gear that a character wears to boost their wisdom/intelligence stat to max strictly for trade skills. Nothing you'd wear in combat.)
Interestingly, all the guards and shamans conned amiable to me. I was totally surprised by this because I've done everything I could to make Ogres dislike me, like killing Ogre guards in Ferrott. The Chief has a huge aggro radius. In fact, it was at the limit of my maximum spell range, so I was unable to cast on him from his spawn point unmolested. Also, I noted that his pet is VERY magic resistant and was difficult to root and DD even with the malo series debuff on him.

My advice for soloing the chief, is to root the chief out of range of the shamans in the camp. Pull his pet out of the chiefs casting range and kill it there. If root breaks, reroot the chief and continue on the pet. Once the pet is dead, heal up and apply all dots/debuffs you might have on the chief, or do a mana dump in DDs on him and then close in for melee. If you are a melee tyoe, you will not be able to solo the chief until you are very high level. Get a partner and do it then.
