This just dropped off a scout at the DSP zoneline as well.
i made a wood elf ranger and bough this in the ranger guild for about 7 pp.. to bad i use a bow 8(

The Goranga Idol isn't bad...especially for lvl's 40 and lower, but also in ME, the Grodan's Idol drops from the Coterie camp. This camp is very close to the DSP zoneline, and after my pally mate and I got one for ourselves, we have OOC'd several of them out to others in the zone. Just last night a guy hanging around the zoneline ran over to loot one. Grodan's idol is NO DROP and about 5 times better than this...so if you spend time in Maiden's Eye, you can set your sights even higher.

My friends Bard alt found this on the ground and gave it to me, its really nice being a gnome SK I need all of the STA I can get, brings me up to 112 I think, pretty good for a non-twink.

As a 35 pally, I can't do anything in this zone but hang by the zone entrance.
What are the chances that in doing an /ooc, I might be able to either pick one up for cheap from a group with no ability to loot another idol?
If so, would I have far to travel in a zone where one misstep is a quick death? Where do they typically drop?

The idol drops all over the zone. My 59 Paladin, Cano, picked one up from a gatherer yesterday right at zone entrance, it was just laying there dead so I checked it out, and look what I have now. That being said, it is a dangerous zone and there are as many trains at zone lately as there are in Karnor’s Castle. Please be careful, I don't like to see dead young players piled up at the zone entrance, or worse yet 5 or 6 corpses from the same person trying to do a corpse recovery.

Bought this off a merchant in Paineel for 11 (yes, eleven) platinum. Gave it to a SK friend of mine, he needed the sta/dex/hp more than I did. I had no idea it was worth anywhere over 10-20 plat.

I had no idea how good the item was. I zoned into ME on my way through the zone and there was a corpse laying there...looted it and it had one of these idols. I looked at it, and just figured I would throw it on my 35 Paladin. Decent range slot item for when he isn't using his bow for pulling. I guess with it being lore, someone killed the goranga and couldn't loot it.
"I guess with it being lore, someone killed the goranga and couldn't loot it" ... Or perhaps the corpse was the first to die in a doublepull and the group was fighting the leftover goranga a few yards away and hadn't been able to get a person there to loot yet...
You can find these pretty easily if you're patient in ME. They're lore and they drop common, most people already have them. I just got one from my cousin, he got a new range slot for his Druid, so I got this.

I went in ME last night just to take a look around. There was a 51 necro right near the zone kiting Gorangas around and she shouted out right after I zoned in that she was selling one of these babies that had just dropped. I'm within sight of her and she hail's me, asking if I'd like to buy it. I reply "Sorry but I don't have nearly enough on me". She say's well just give me whats on you. So now I am the proud owner of a Goranga Idol for the bargain price of 16pp! =) /grin Sometimes you just get lucky.

Very Nice item I must say, I was given mine by a traveler seeking a teleport from EC to SRo, yes that is correct South Ro. I also agree that sometimes taking the extra minute to help someone pays off in the end.

Well, not as sweet as your deal, but got pretty close. Just zoned into GFayMart to do some selling (heck, only had 67p on me....nothing to buy with that since my wis is 199) and I see someone selling one of these. I send a tell to get a pricerange, he replies: 700p. Wow. Guess it is expensive. I offer to trade a centi warhammer and polished steel ulak for it (value, about 350p or so...) He just wants coins. Kircuis, or so, was his name. Not having near as much as that, I proceed to the Spires (I hate finding my way to the bank, worst city IMHO is Kelethin...) There I find someone selling 3 packs of stuff. I see an identical Goranga idol, and ask the price.

Made my evening. Might use it in place of my 2wis range item, but might just give it to my BST friend, who needs a few more stats than I do.

Just want to let everyone know my "good luck". I happen to know a level 60 Necromancer who likes to "hang out" in this zone with her "lower" level cleric. Every night we both gate back to the Nexus and she offloads her Goranga Idols, one to each alt of mine of course, to me and I get to carry them and sell them for 50 percent profit. I have traded two of them for two Centi SS's. Sold 3-4 for 600pp each. And currently traded one for a Baton of Faith(a 1Kpp+ item), and another for a TBB! They are very nice range items and maybe one day I'll stop selling them and keep one for myself. If ya need one and you're on Solusek Ro, give me a holler-NO, I won't give you a discount.
Is 400pp good for this?
If you can hunt in ME then yes 400pp is to much. I still see them drop at a rate of 1 or 2 in a 3 hour session of nonstop goranga killing. If you are not the level to hunt in ME then 400pp is a steal for this.

Bought one last night for 450 for my warrior. Pretty good value I thought. Sods law suggests Ill get one myself now Ive bought one though as I'm killing in maidens atm for the other nice nodrop stuff they have. Hopefully I can get my warrior to the corpse before they either rot or someone jumps in and loots my kills.

one droped last night. we were at the DP zone pulling hunters and gathers for about 2 hrs. sorry, cant remember what it droped off of ... we did get a few lookouts ... but i dont think it was one of them that droped it.

Untill a few days ago I had Totem of the Warrior Spirit in my range slot. I had it since about lvl 10 and was starting to get a bit embaressed about still using it. Then, someone trades me the Idol for the Totem. Saves me going to get it myself. Nice trade :)

Not long ago maybey a week or somthin, they made the drop rait rare, so no u wont be ggetting on every hour anymore. This seems like a pattern, Cetni longsowrd was common nw rare hmm so is the idol, whats next?

these are nice.. very easy to get, though.. just pull the lvl 55 scouts and they are common drop. got 3 in a group in about 3 hours.. i'd say you could get 1 an hour with regular pulling. nice item btw :)

From my experience in ME, if you are hunting Gorangas you will probably see on the average of one every hour. Not a difficult item to obtain. When Luclin was just released they were selling for 3000 to 4000, made sense cause they are just shy of Idol of the Thorned (especially for monk). Now, on Antonius Bayle, they go for between 1000 and 1500. As everyone has said, if you go hang around Maiden's long enough you will see them rotting on the ground cause they are lore and most people fighting there already have one. These idols are well worth 1500pp, if they were less common they would still sell for 3000pp.

4k seems a bit high. On quellious these sell for 1k-1.5k 4k is definately too much cuz they are a common drop in zone.

If you are too low to fight in there, just park yerself in dawnshroud at the Maiden zone if you have a friend fighting in there, and have him send you a tell when one drops. They drop so often that they rot. If yer feelin risky and have invis, sit inside the maiden zone and wait for an ooc that one is rotting.
Either way, they still drop like candy. I just got one and it was the third of the night to drop. The group's total playing time in the zone: 4 hours.

I just wanted to chime in also after I saw someone trying to sell one of these for 4000pp. Got in a group in ME and saw around 8 of them drop in about 5 hours of playing. We were giving them away, too. It's almost sad that this awesome of a ranged slot item is going to end up like the orc fang earrings...

These Idols are common; There are several other idols better than these that drop in the same zone.

We got two in a little over an hour.
5ac, 2wis/int/dex/str. And even a level 1 character can do it, assuming they have some help getting from place to place (especially the trip to Katta). Almost as good as this item for melee characters, and it won't cost you a plug SP. The only major advantage this item has is the 25HP, but if you don't want to throw away 4kpp...
