Having been on the receiving end of a duel with a monk using this weapon, I'd say it would definitely be the best choice! You're pretty much paralized until the monk has a long enough period between procs.
The proc on the stick is one of THE best procs you could ever have. it does 120 UNRESISTABLE damage and its a stun longest ive had it for was like 6 seconds. This is your best friend for all mobs and it makes pking a breeze. Keep this staff
holy cow i can't believe this but i just get home from work and do my usual bazaar checks for items which ton po is a check i do for and rarely have i ever seen one of these in bazaar and when i have always around 200k. so i check and see 2 of them way unusual. 1 for 185k and another for 13k YES 13k i never ran with trader so fast lol. i a happy monk now!!!!
I bought one for my monk because I reside on a pvp server. My monk uses a sofw, but when I pvp it's the ton po I use or the tsaff before the ton po. It gives me an edge with the 120dd and the stun. People do not like fighting someone with a tstaff or ton po.
There have been 3 for sale on Solusek Ro. They range from 250k-750k. Looks like the casino has been very good, or the other sticks have come out of the woodwork.
try this...ppl sit an put almost all of their bank accounts into the casino to get em...friend of mine spent alot of cash to get one...she isn't selling, she rather cherishs it...
I bought one for 70k, used it on my monk twink, decided against twinking, and resold it in baz for 80k after 2 days of it being up. There was one other in the Bazaar with me for 250k, but it had been there for a couple of weeks.
I agree with one previous post regarding the casino. I think it was used to counter the duped plat, and I also agree with your theory about re-entering the lost items resulting from banned accounts. That idea is new in my mind, but it does make since.
Friend played 20K in tokens in the casino. Got a 3 Deluxe Sewing Kits, 3 Illusion potions (Dwarf, Barbarian, and Gnome), about 5 stacks of food (2 stacks high end, 3 stacks mid-range, Beer Goggles, and 1 Gold Ticket! Turned ticket in and recieved Ton Po's Bo Stick of Understanding! This is the 1st one I have EVER seen on the Brell server, and it's estimated 1 other ever existed on the server. Nice staff for the 20K investment! Also, for items that are no longer dropped, it appears that only 1 will be awarded as a prize on each server, as not to reintroduce tons of them. Good Luck to all when the casino's actually go live again.
Was sitting in shadow haven today, a shaman turned in his gold ticket and got one of these babies in return. Happy hunting guys, don't blow all your plat trying to get one to. ;)
If this is true, it makes me even more suspicious about how they decide what the prizes are.
Many of you may have already read the news that there was a plat duping scheme going on, using a bug in EQ trader prices, and 3rd part macroing software. A small number of people, made MILLIONS of plat, then rushed out and bought up a LOT of rare high end items.
When they were caught, Sony posted that they banned the people, and deleted the characters. What bugged me about this is that they also may have deleted rare, no longer dropping items, like mana stones, and this staff.
It would be a pleasant surprise to me, to find that they decided that rather than simply delete those items, they would offer them as casino prizes, so they would reenter those items into the game economy, at the same time, as the casino ate up all the extra plat, created by the duping, and then distributed into the Norrathian economy.
Ok This item did exist at one point.. It is about as rare and impossible to find as the original Fungi Staffs that could be used by anyone.. The average server has 1 or 2.. This was at one time the best buyable monk staff in the game and as for pre-50 it still is the best buyable.. The proc is the same as the Tranquil Staff from KC ( 29dmg 30dly 10wt. effect: One Hundred Blows ) The proc on that staff is a 120DD w/ 12 sec stun and it is UNRESISTABLE.. Though some mobs are immune to the stun portion of that staff..
Price wise they run up there in the 400-500k range and are one of the rarest non GM specific / Artifact items in the game, If not the rarest..
Dont recommend buying one btw.. If you have this kind of money to spend I would recommend a Staff of Flowing Water considering this wont proc till later in the game.. Not that I suspect anyone will ever see one for sale.. The one on Tarew Marr I havnt seen for years..
In short, Its a collectors item that is probley rotting away on some merchant bot in Bazaar or worse has been in someones bank for the last 4 years...
yes, i'll be quick to admit this is a very nice weapon... but no, you that think this or any other weapon would change the course of a raid need to wake up. i currently use tstaff and the effect, altho nice, doesnt let u just go solo a dragon. also, altho 44 40 sounds good... well it is but u guys carry it way too far. needless to say, most of us that have hit 50+ and used good weps know that a wep itself wont make you uber... without armor and experience at playing ur just gonna be another ebayer causin trains... =P

Only a ****** would level up as a monk and not buy armor upgrades so that's not even a valid argument. This weapon will make you automatically uber because it allows you to do a lot more damage along with the monk skills/armor you already had which should allow you not to train people already. The only other thing that would make it better armor wise is a higher item haste and that still has to deal with damage dealing not armor or hps. And dps do change the course of raids no matter how small and this weapon would be no small damage upgrade, if we went along with your logic we'd all be running around with 2 store bought staffs being good little monks not starting trains and taking 15 lvl 50 monks to knock off a Sand Giant...

Ok, i just had to say this, on Brell there is 1 maybe 2 on the server. If it were to sell i'd have to say it would fetch at least 450k considering the amount on the server. Cause there are 12 Scepters of Destruction selling for 390k a pop and if there is 1/6 that of these then expect to pay more than 400k. And BTW the proc is 150DD and 6 second stun on NPCs and 75DD 5 second stun in duels. just my 2cp
FYI the Staff of Flowing Water only has a slightly better ratio, which is actually offset by the lower damage bonus, and the proc on the Ton Po's definitely makes it favorable for DPS.
Considering some of the obscenely awesome weapons that drop on the moon, it'd be nice if VI would put this one back in. Doesn't seem to be so powerful in comparison now-a-days (which is not to say its worthless... just not QUITE as godly).
