Race foolishness
# Jan 10 2003 at 9:06 PM Rating: Default
I have never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever been in a group and said "No, don't get that SK, he is an iksar!"

You can change iksar to any rance and SK to any class and it will still hold true.

It's all a matter of taste and style. Personaly, I think iksar luclin models looks awesome in plate.

Sadly my friend's Gnome Paladin was treated as a crappy Paladin. No one thought he could tank because he was a gnome, which is simply not true.

Hmmmm...that's kind of wierd...because we CAN! When you hear someone say that Iksar can't wear plate, they mean that they can't wear the classic types of plate, like fine steel, crusty, and crafted. Iksar CAN wear plate, I would know, I'm wearing Engraved Royal Velium, and that appears as plate on all races, including Iksar, and we do have our own plate graphic you know.

RE: HA!!!
# May 31 2003 at 7:02 PM Rating: Default
First of All what you have to understand is Yes Ogres may have a few extra HP then iksars, and yes their stats might be a little higher. I will agree with you there. But as some one who has actually Played an Iksar to lvl 60 I will differ you in the fact that ogres are better. An Iksar SK will at any given time have close to even Double the AC an Ogre will. And considering High end game Items and Armor, Stats wont mean crap because everything will be close to maxed anyway. And HP are easy to Come by with AA. As a 56 Iksar Monk my HP and AC were Higher then most 58+ warriros I knew. Hell I used to MT in the Planes because I could avoid more damage than the Warriors, They just kept the casters alive. So I tell you know with experience of being an Iksar, Ogres are not teh best SK's. Sorry to put you down, but if you knew how iksars played and how their stats are bonused you might not have said that.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 24 2003 at 6:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the only reason you would have more hp then a 58 warrior is because of the fact that you must be a dirty twink and they sucked. and you dont have even close to double the ac, its more like 15 more ac. and even though at higher end its ez to get stats, being able to max out your sta ez lets you get more high hp items and never have to worry about getting sta. the only thing left is that regen which will only help you until about lvl 60, after that regen doesn't mean to much. other then that being huge kinda sucks but nothing beat the ogre plop when you fd so ogres win!
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 12 2003 at 4:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) In the end we all add up to about the same in stats, the only difference are the skills and faction that the different races offer. Human SKs end up with the worst abilities...no ultravision, no foraging, etc. etc. Ikkies have a lil upper hand on humans, except they are hated by virtually everything. Ogres are just plain easy targets...huge and fat and very easily noticable in pvp. Gnomes tend to rule the pvp situation due to their tiny size and increases in mana pool, which help in between jousts...but it's all your in the end.

for all you people bashing this item and iksar sk in general, why dont you all try and learn what your talking about before posting this is an item used in another quest so here it is since yo all obviously didnt see the link up top.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=68

now go there a dont drool on it wake up people Iksar are the best SK in game. Now if we can just get VI to return sole ownership of these weapons to use everything will be fine. No other race should be alowed to have these weapons. VI are hipocits (sp) they tell you all races are kos to iksar and for us not to be we have to do faction work forever to get indiff. while say humans for example gain faction the easiest out of all races it might take them two weeks to become indiff in Cablis while it will take an iksar (any class) 4 or 5 weeks of straight faction building just to be come indiff. and the story line completely says iksar hate everyone no matter what so in theory no other race should be able to gain faction with cablis at all.

just my 2cp.
RE: HEY LISTEN UP
# May 12 2003 at 10:08 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, i'd just like to say this one thing in reguards to gaining faction and iksars: I was able to get my friends iksar monk to indifferent in under 1 day in FP, all you iksars need to get your faction up is to be really good friends with a higher lvl druid and do tons of faction quests, i figure the same can be done for just about every faction, i figure FP faction is not the hardest faction to get, but it's also not the easiest. There's the bat wing quest in South Felwithe (for Keepers of the Arts faction, mostly INT caster faction), the muffin quest (for ranger/druid faction) in WFP, and those, all you need to do is buy a large number of stacks of muffins or bat wings, I mean, just look up what factions you want to raise, and go find a quest to raise it, and there's plenty out there.

Iksar seem like great SKs, only problem I have with them is that stupid guild of theirs, I cant jump off of that ladder to reach the next floor with the guild trainer and other stuff like quests! Silly SOE and their boggling architecture.
RE: HEY LISTEN UP
# Oct 21 2002 at 9:33 AM Rating: Decent
I partly agree that only Iksars should be able to complete the Greenmist quests, because it does indeed imply in the storyline that the weapon was intended for that race alone, and also that their forced segregation from the rest of the world has bittered them infinatly against others. However, I see a few iksars with Innorukk's Curse every now and then, and according to storyline, they shouldn't really have that, nor should my paladin have done most of his epics, cuz' it was more of an Erudite quest. Buuuut, I guess we can't linger on these kinds of things. In a sense, I'm glad other races can do the quests, because I accidently ran accross some pages for LoP kukri as my paladin, and will now need to faction-build to MQ that part of the quest :( The only thing I'm really worried about is competition with Monks seeking the Shackle of Tynnonium.

Why all this bashing? It's just a bunch of senseless rhetoric! People can go 'round and 'round for ages on subjects such as this, and nothing ever gets done.

Here's my two cents for those that actually have some sense of decorum: If you don't like the item that you see, don't comment.

Please keep in mind that this game is truely global. (Has anyone ever really stopped and thought about what that means?) EQ embraces a multitude of different playing styles. If you happen to be of the 'twink' sect, or 'power-gamer' sect, more power to you. Just remember that no two players are going to have identical styles, and in this global system, styles can vary incredibly.

So, my point is, if you think the items you see are crap, keep it to yourself. There are those players out there that have only recently plugged into EQ and by dissing on the decent middle-range gear, you're destroying some of the mystery of the game.

It's not all hack'n'slash. Camping and Farming were consequences not forseen by the design staff at Verant and Sony. This game was designed for the exploration and discovery... adventure!

Let people play at their own rate!

Smiley: twocents

I just wish I could put this post in all the 'rhetoric' columns on this site.

Say what you want about the crappy dam/del on this compared to other 50+ weapons, but that 25 MR and the ability to bash with a shield cant be beat when going against casting mobs, like the wizards and shamans in Old Seb. you'll save your healers a lot of mana with this thing in the right situations.

this isn't that great a wep, but its a wep in a series of quests that keep getting better and better, so i really don't think its required to be great, and yes 12/24 is a bad dmg/delay for sks, just get a moss for like 300-400pp 19/29 10int.

I completed this quest tonight and am def. ready to start the greenmist (already have the hammer of 1406 actually :P). just some notes on this quest...

-I found that 2 of the keys drop off the penmaster and 2 drop off the penkeeper

-there are 2 Sarnak courier spawns in CoM

-librarian scrolls were easiest to get on a raid situation

-getting the scroll from a failed crypt raider solo at 48 in kaesora is rough (lol...ended up have to join a group that was down there), could be done with yourself and a healer though.

-the majority of this is very solo'able but easier when done with a healer or group.

-ONE KEY NOTE! make sure you get a 10 dose shrink potion before going into the jail of droga...if u fall into the pit you CAN NOT GET OUT unless you get someone to port you out or shrink you. when small u can just slip thru the cell doors.

hope some of these help...good luck to all of you.

if you lack shrink while you are down in the Droga Jail, thats ok, just use Shadow Step and you can get in and out of the jail cells.
It is not that great of a weapon either
# Dec 30 2001 at 11:36 PM Rating: Default

For all the effort and time in order to obtain this, this is not that great of a weapon.
I currently am using a MOSS and it does not even measure up to my fellow SKs who mostly 2HS weapons. In average, they can generate 150+ damage while I can only do about 120 at best. Don't forget that by the time you are able to get this without much help, the mobs around your level have at least 2-3k+ HP. How long do you think you can hack on these mobs with a 12 damage weapon before they rip you apart? After all, SK depends on melee most and the watered down necro spells don't help much unless you have been suiting up some major INT items since lvl 9. Then you can do some fear kite killing.

Given all that, this is not a bad weapon for PKing against some casters because of the fast delay, beside the shield bashing for interrupting casting. Yes, the 25 MR is a big plus. But how effective do you think this weapon is against some melee class players?
Oh yeah, most of the mobs are melee classes. Who says this weapon is a great weapon?

Oh, and 3 charges of enduring breath? PLEASE! The least they can do is random proc of shroud of hate or something.

How about a Polished Shai'din Naginata? 38/46 AC10 +8 STR +10 STA +5 WIS/INT and +3 on some sv.

This is a quest you could conceivable complete at level 40, if you've quested for the other weapons throughout your shadowknight life. A good group of high 30's could lay waste in the areas you have to go.

So let me ask you, is a 12 / 24 weapon with quite a few nice stat increasers a good weapon for a level 40 that hasn't been twinked since they were level 1?

I think people forget sometimes what it's like to NOT have a level 55 dr00d pharming equipment for their twinks.

This is a great weapon for an Iksar Shadowknight if they get it at the appropriate level. Trying to compare a level 40 weapon to one that drops off a tough level 51 mob is sorta stupid. Sure, with the economy the way it is in Everquest right now, you can buy a MoSS for 500 plat. But some people take pride in earning their weapons and don't want to be seen as another twink with the same weapons as everybody else.

On its own, this weapon is not really worth the investment and time and energy. Not only do you need 9 drops from four different "dungeon" type zones, some of which are quite rare, but you also need to complete the prior Iksar khukri quests.

The quest prior to this one requires that you obtain the visceral dagger, which requires 3 uncommon drops from different areas of Dalnir's Crypt, and 1 common drop. Plus you need to get a ton of lower level drops, which are going to require hours of effort to complete.

In the ordinary course of leveling up and playing, most people aren't going to get the drops they need unless they go considerably out of their way. It's a lot easier to buy something like a MoSS.

However, as others have noted, this weapon is needed to complete the Unholy Khukri of Rile: Greenmist, which is a formidable weapon. Although better/comparable stuff drops pretty commonly in NToV, if you're not in a guild capable of doing that area, Greenmist is a great little mini-epic quest.

OK well i dont know if you are bothering to read on what this sword is for but --- GREENMIST SWORD is the next quest after this one and a 1hs 18 / 22 with dmg shissar 6 = 24 / 22 1hs. AND THE PROC GREENMIST . Well i am done just go and read about the sword and tell us Iksar Sk this is not WORTH IT. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7029
Good weapon, who's complaining.
# Nov 25 2001 at 5:48 AM Rating: Decent
As a weapon, this isn't bad at all. the ratio is good and the +'s aren't something to scoff at either. Anyone else who thinks this isn't has spent way too much time sitting in a camp waiting for a green spawn to pop so they can loot it for their little twink.

Sooner or later, someone will get the idea that quested items should be more potent than drop items of their level range, moreso all that farmed equipment, if only for the fact that those that quest are demonstrating an interest in the game, not just abusing it's rewards.

I personally wouldn't call this weapon "Sad". No, I would agree that I would not use this as a "main" weapon...but since I don't really have any good 1h weapons with good stats, this goes very nicely when I am "pulling" or "assist pulling" some of the big name guys. The +25 mr from this along with my rainbow shield....hmmm...thats almost +50 mr..I can deal with that.

As with all of the iksar quest upgrade weapons/items, the point of getting the Lord of Pain's Khukri is twofold:

(1) Status. Who cares if you ever use it. You earned it, (something many iksar SK will never do), and in the process uncovered more of the history of your guild. People constantly complain that the world of Norrath is not immersive enough -- these quests are an opportunity to do something beyond the usual xp grind.

(2) There is another upgrade to this weapon. Given the details currently coming to light after the recent patch, it is highly likely that the finished product is of at least epic quality, (as opposed to being intended for levels 45-50, as originally supposed), making it an extremely useful item to have. We will see what the actual stats are when someone finally gets it, but the idea of having another very powerful weapon gained via a quest (instead of simply looted from X Mob) is extremely inviting to me.

As far as the other iksar weapon/armour quests go, GMs have said in the past that there is a chance they will likewise continue to be developed, (the warrior pike quests, monk shackle quests, etc.).

Questing is not for everyone, but I for one appreciate the opportunities to delve more deeply into my guild's history and mythology, (and get stuff in the process :P).

I agree as well, I have an Iks Warrior (go on about class/race combo, fek you i'm playing what I'm going to have fun with). He's doing the trooper scale quests at lvl 25 and of course it's not the best stuff but he earned it, that's the difference. My monk (hum) has the Qeynos Badge of Nobility. I'm sure there's better as well but she earned it. Also questing is fun, and what's the point of playing the game at all if you're not having fun?

it's a NO DROP, 1HS with +10 int, +5 STR, +35 MR !
who cares if the stats are LESS than godly, I mean, i'm using a Crystallized Blade now at 31 and would love to have this weapon.
Plus, you never know when Verant might look at the work it took us to get those damn pages of a tome and say... hmm... let's upgrade it and nerf that damn ebon mace that everyone has...

Well aside from the fact that quests are fun (at least to those who dont insiston whning how hard they can be) the Main reason u wanna do all these IF u are only interested in the reward....
Greenmist
The final quest is supposedly working now and most likely u will need to turn this in to get it.
Sure there are better weapons like Ebon mace and Noc blade but, i bet ya the final quest yields something worth using =) and isnt it nice to have a weapon that maybe a handfull of SK have on your server? if even that many!

Actually, I'm kinda curious too.

Reading the quest walkthrough we see it isn't like the other khukri quests where you hand in your previous khukri, so on that basis an non-Ikky can do the quest.

But, how do I raise faction enough so the Ikkys don't slice my lily white and oh-so-soft human *** into small bite-size chunks, so I can to Xoggy?

25 MR !!!
RE: Who would us this fer a weapon?
# Jun 13 2001 at 4:52 AM Rating: Decent
Definetly the MR. In a group at higher levels, an SK's objective is almost plainly to keep the mob on him. Dealing damage is secondary.

With this on I could get my MR high enough to resist many a spell. Which is good since the mob should be attempting to nuke me, not the cleric.

My only hope is that Greenmist (god forbid they fix the quest) has even better MR (35 + hopefully). Then it'll be one of those items that people ooh and ahh at just for the 35 SvMagic.

Enduring Breath has nothing to do with swimming ability. It kept you from breathing underwater. So it's useful if you go in Kedge, hunt Bloodgills in LoIO and in any underwater area. Beside that there's no use for it.

And btw at the lvl you can obtain this Iksars arent better swimmer than anyone else who train his skill. swimming max at 200 for all races.

Im a lvl 45 Iksar SK on Innoruuk, so far Ive made it up the the Hero's Khukri. I have some guildmates that are gonna help me to get this one soon. Quest doesnt look to hard, since we hunt in CoM and Kaesora anyhow. The Hero's Khukri is an average weapon at my lvl, but nothing campered to using a MoSS. I want these just for the sake of having said I have done it. I have 1 more Iksar SK to ask that is higher lvl than myself, and if he hasn't done these quests, then I have the only Hero's Khukri on the server, which is kinda cool.As far as looks go, the Hero's Khukri is the 1st one to change forms, it looks just like the Kunzar weapon that warriors get that procs engulfing darkness. I'll post and tell what this one looks like in a few weeks. To be frank though, these weapons are more for status than anything else. Even with the Grand Lord's I will likely still be using my MoSS. Greenmist on the other hand is rumored to be 18/24, if that's the case. That would be a usuable weapon. If anyone has any info on Greenmist, please post here cause I can't seem to find a thing.
