These things go for about 400p Notice they are NOT lore. Get a druid or wizzy friend and do this quest all day. When you set up bazaar mode. In the morning you will be one happy trader. Just my 2 CP, Great farming
I agree. On Zeb Server, effect is not Mana Perservation 2 but Reanimation Haste 2. Wish it was as shown. Can only hope a patch changes it to Mana Perservation 2. My Ogre SK with it would love that. But Otherwise Nice AC and Stats. Dex add helps offset Crusty Armor Dex lost.
My current main is a level 28 Dark Elf Shadow Knight, Innoruuk obviously.
I have been thinking of getting these for him for about the last month now and plan to move to newer hunting grounds after I get my level 30 SK spells. Newer hunting grounds being in Velious of course.
What are my chances of getting these Pauldrons right off from the start. Are there any Dark Elf SK's out there who have done this Quest and can I have their advise?
A friend suggested I kill dorfs for my faction, which of course will KOS me in Thurgadin but I hate those smelly little dorfs anyway (Innoruuk remember) and I don't really care for going into their gay little city. Plus there are a few other Kael quests I am interested in.
But this Pauldron quest will be the first I attempt so if I could get some advise from other fellow Tier Dals out there who have done this Quest I would appreciate it.
Ok, VI have changed the effect after the emergency patch. It is no longer Mana Preservation II but HASTE REANIMATION II.
As far as I am aware of this reduces casting time on summon pet spells, so it's benefits will only be noticed on those classes with pets. As far as I am concerned Mana Preservation is much more useful IMO but what can you say... Verant at their best as usual :)
Since last patch this item has effect: Mana preservation II
Not real sure what it does but I guess it reduces mana cost when you cast a spell. From what I have seen it is random so it works like a proc.. 'Your engraved bla bla begin to glow..' just upon casting. It seems to have procced only with a few of my spells but that may just be coincidence and there may be a chance for a proc every time you cast a spell whichever it is.
Level I = under level 22 or so Level II = under 44 level spells Level III = All spells supported
So Engraved bone pauldrons work only on spells eqaul to or lower than level 44. It makes all spells that work with the pauldrons cost 10% less mana.
So nice for any spell casting class including melee like paladins and SKs. With these my lil SK has 28cha hehe, but doesnt really matter than much unless youre selling expensive gems. A few extra silver per drink or food is really irrelevant by the time you can get these. They dropped off a MOB at the bank for me, was the only one that needed them.
If you are KOS to both Kormrif and Kromzek, is this quest still doable to get these spaulders? Is Wenglawks and Kellek on that faction? If it does matter, what race/class combo can I create to do this quest? Will an ogre war make them talk to me and give me the quest items? Thx for your help.
Hey I just picked up one of these a few days ago. The ac alone isn't bad for a shoulder item ( ranger by the way ). The agility boost on this thing makes it quite considerable. without this on my AC drops 20 points, so, the agi actually ( for me at least ) makes this an AC 20 item with the extra + 3 dex. Rangers don't need Charisma, I take it off when I sell stuff anyway. It is also ALL ALL ( as mine personally states ) and has a meager weight of 2.5. I've never played a monk before, but I've talked to a few of them and they were intrigued by this item. May be good for them. Think about it, if you see any downsides I'm not considering, please respond ( plus they can be found for real cheap )
1. To do this quest, will I need to pass any Storm Giants? I have dubious faction with the frost giants, but storm giants will most likely whack me (I am a Ranger who worships Tunare).
2. Do I need faction better than indifferent? (which I get with sneak)
For those wondering why no faciton hits happen for this quest, Wenglawks is a traitor to the giants... a spy sent by the Dragonkin of Skyshrine. Why do I know this? Just switched factions to giant from Skyshrine/Coldain and have been exploring quests in SS for a bit now. The true quest for the key through SS tells you to visit Wenglawks and hand him an item...
Not sure how you can pull that off exactly with the Noble standing there but may be possible to sneak to a point you can trade with him and not be giant toe jam.
The quest for the key may be different now but that's what it was about 4 months ago and no idea why they'd change it but anything is possible. Feel free to check with the first drake you can talk to in SS to the right if you're able.

Clearyl some things NOOBIES cannot do. Y u think they made the igloo TINY?? so big fatties cant do this quest without help! People When you hit 46 you can start worrying about questing, until then just LVL. Your worthless in my book till you can do raids.

No, because you are the newbie you pretend to hate, thinking that maybe if you say that on a post you won't be one. well you have made an *** out of yourself my friend, I feel bad for you, I really do, and do something about that writing of yours, go to a special school or something, learn how to redact a post before even attempting to expose your ideas here.
This quest can be done solo quite easily provided you have the means to cast invisibility upon yourself, regardess of your Kael factions.
if your fingers are quick, you can drop your invis, hand the required items to Wenglawks, and be off in a snap! The giant who shares the room with Wenglawks is in the low 50's, and hits for roughly 100.
Hope this information helps somebody out there! Good luck!

...to the quest giver and the merchant you get the tools from...I have completed the quest a dozen times without a hitch. very odd faction thing going on here..Good luck
Hostile Crimsonblade 51st Half-Elf Warrior of Zek ---===/Officer of d`Void - Quellious\===---
Umm... you'll get to kindly before warmly. It may have been a simple word swap, but for those who don't know already... factions go, from worst to best:
havent tried it at a different faction as im kindly to storm giants. hes on the kromzek faction luckily so its a lot easier to raise if you just hunt in skyshrine.
if you look at the icon, it looks plate, and if its plate, iksars cant wear. why does verant consistantly torture us with items that are all/all when iksars probably cant wear them cause their plate, I mean really. im just going on what I suspect, maybe its not technically plate somehow and iksars can wear, but the icon looks plate to me, so im assuming the worst.
A 50+ friend friend of mine (Thanks Bogmuk!!) just gave these to my Iksar Shadowknight. Great AC and the -20 Charisma can't hurt those Fear Spells I keep casting. The picture is a product of lazy programing...not the essentials of the item.
heh if its all/all iksars can wear bro, dont matter wtf it looks like. my iksar sk used to wear admantite epaulets cause he got a good deal on them and they give pretty good ac and those things are definatly plate.
I tried a human newbie Rallos Zek worshipping warrior out of curiosity. He could get the first part of the quest (toolset voucher) from Wenglawks, and all the other giants were no worse than dubious so getting to Wenglawks was no problem.
But the second guy who takes the voucher from Wenglawks (Kellek Felhammer) was dubious and told me to buzz off. No toolset.
Someday when I'm bored I'll try a barb warrior instead of a human, but that's a long hike. Or I'll try an ogre, best chance faction-wise I bet...but an ogre would need a friend to shrink him, or to pull Sojan the gnome out of his little igloo. Maybe true for barbs too, not sure.
doesn't matter what race you choose .. i tried an ogre sk who follows Rallos Zek and it is the same effect: i got the note from Wenglawks (only guy who is indifferently from starters), but Kellek was dubious to me, so he wouldn't take the note.
Well now that's weird. I ran my lil' halfling warrior (lvl 1, worshipping Rallos Zek) to Kael, and he was dubiously with both Kromzek and Kromrif. However he has a little extra secret hidden in his furry foot-hairs, he can sneak behind all these unfriendly giants, and they are miraculously "indifferent". This worked fine in getting quests from Nobel Halsen and from Wenglawks, but Kellek, even at "indifferent", says he'll do nothing to help such as me.
After some recent patch, Wenglawks Kkeak now walks a route through town, instead of standing close to his friends inside the building. Not sure exactly when it was changed, I've been out of the country.
So now an agnostic 20+ enchanter like me can pull off this quest without dying...usually... (one false step though...)
I'll refrain from detailing it step-by-step, in the hopes of getting decent prices for a while longer. Hey gimme a break, cost me enough pain and suffering :) And hey all you chanters, you don't really want me to spoil it for you, right? It's a fun little do-or-die puzzle, not that hard but the suspense is great when a mistake gets you clubbed into a grease spot. Mwuhahaha. If you get it right the first time without getting splatted, give yourself a gold star. Suggestion: bind at the entrance first. Enjoy!
As a bard I can waltz thru giant land with ease, any bard of 11th level or higher can do the same using Carillion unless they worship Tunare I imagine. I worship Marr and have no trouble thanks to faction song!
Um I have the 20 faction spell...AND illusions, AND invis. But I was still very unsafe in Kael. Is the level 11 faction song better than the level 20 chanter spell?
Without illusion or lots of work on giant faction it seems like Kael giants would be KOS for anyone but ogres, or so it seemed to me. Only ogre illusion (of the mobile illusions) was any good. So that rules out DE bards or mask of deception. Minor illusion made them all amiable but it roots the caster.
Pardon me for doubting but did you really do this quest or are you just assuming that song will get you anywhere? I can believe you got THROUGH Kael OK, I can do that too. But this quest?
If you actually completed the quest maybe it's a race or religion thing. But I'm an Erudite agnostic...seems like a Marr-worshipping bard would not be despised any less by the giants.
Anyone worshipping Rallos Zek begins non-kos (at least dubious) to the giants on the outskirts of the city. The deeper you go, the better your faction has to be.
