I was hunting this bow for a new ranger I made and had one drop from a Chetari master.
ok ur lvl 57... u really must suck if ur still using this thing at that lvl. You should at least have a bft, or some sorta of compound bow. 2, u cant possibly ks someone with this bad of a wepon, u shoulldnt use this past 25, 30 max.
Im not sure if all of you noticed this butttt...

I got one for my lvl one ranger and lo and behold archery damage is not limited like melee dmg is pre lvl 20. needless to say I was wacking rats in quenos with this+7dmg arrows for 40dmg hehe and killin them in one shot. pled him to lvl 20np now hes upgrading to a blessed faydar thunderbold.

I bought this bow on Tunare a couple of weeks ago for 11k, and it was WELL worth it. With a velium swiftblade and SoS I KS'd 3 groups in the Kael Arena using my Trueshot Disc during a group reshuffle. Everyone was quite surprised to see a solo ranger calling out the loot off a dead PoZ =). Best crit so far is 670 and that was with crap arrows, when i have the time to tailor make some arrows for special occasions i expect to end up in the 800ppt range. Use this bow and your trueshot disc while doing any major mobs and your clerics will thank you and people that have never seen a ranger score a critical hit before will start sending you tells.

Yes, I love using Trueshot /disc with my fletched 8 dmg 100 range arrows. I don't have this bow yet, but even with my Raincaller I still crit around 500-600 sometimes.
You do get some heads turned your way after a few of those =)

I have seen rogues in action. I dont think it would be overkill to let them Crit with a bow... I think it would be kind of cool. Somewhat assasin like :)

Rogues get deadly strike with archery and thrown weapons, which does more damage with an arrow, i do about double what a backstab does with a good arrow and a deadly strike, backstabing for a bout 440 max now, and critting for 600-750, and deadly striking for 1000-1250 big difference till i get AA's for double backstab and crit backstab.
And of course at 60 rogues assasinate with thrown weapons, but dont know about with arrows, its a possibility.

Can someone tell me what this "Trueshot disc" is? I understand (i think) the skill starts at 55. This DISK is what? an item that goes int he ranged slot? I think it would be cool if there was a bow that never needed arrows. Like int he D&D cartoon.... is there?

Trueshot is a ranger discipline they get at lvl 55. It lasts for 1 minute or something and allows them to basically hit harder like double dmg on bow shots and greater chances of crits or something. Rangers with good bow, archery skill, and arrows can crit for 887 that i've seen and I've heard over 1k if have a bow with super high dmg (probably the Plane of Air bow).
Trueshot discipline is avaliable to rangers with the Velious expansion after level 55.
It doubles bow damage for 2 minutes and increases hit accuracy. This coupled with a good bow, Falcon/Hawk/Eagle Eye, fleeting quivver, killer arrows and DEX buff can cause some serious damage.
I can vouch for the damage the Wind Striker (Plane of Air bow) can do. I got a copy of a log file where a 56 ranger was dueling a warrior using archery only, with a cleric healing the warrior.
The cleric had to CH the warrior 9 times. Avg bow damage was around 700-800hp per arrow.
It's just a shame VI won't let pre-50 rangers enjoy archery more. If you don't own Velious (for Disciplines) and Luclin (for Alternate Advancement into Archery Mastery and Endless Quivver) you're screwed, as are pre-50 rangers. It would be nice if they gave rangers archery bonuses earlier, that progressed as their levels did.

This bow is just amazing. I am 56 with 223 archery skill and with 8dmg arrows and disc I am hitting mobs on average for 300 points of damage (double each hit). Highest crit so far is 578 but I except that to go up very soon. I've done as much as 7500 points of damage during the 2 min that Trueshot disc lasts.

Well i used to think 12kpp was a lot but not when you can make 1kpp in about an 8 hour strech doing differnt things these days im a 41 lvl ranger and if some one wanted to sell this bow, witch I really don't see why, id be the first one to send them a tell telling them sold to me one happy ranger with now a bow by far better than slowshoots (trueshoots)

I have a question regarding the trueshot discipline. Could someone explain what this is and what Lv a ranger aquires this skill. I have not been able to find information on this. Thanks in advance for any help

A ranger gets Trueshot at lvl 55. Basically for a few mins you have a better chance of higher dmg hits and crits. With this bow so far my highest crit has been 300 but I've seen them as high as 600+ with higher archery skill. (mine is 188)
I trade out my ranged slots at the moment between Windsaber when I wants some stats and the Double Recurve when I want to use my disc. Hope that clears things up for you.

I use a windsaber, highest crit with trueshot disc going was 289, 3 damage arrows, and shammie buffed 223 str. To see anyone but a ranger using this bow is a total waste.

A level 60 Ranger that used to be in my guild once KS'd 3 groups of 50+ players who were fighting an enchanter epic mob. She said with trueshot (disc) she did over 4000 points of damage in the amount of time it took for the mob to be killed. She was un-grouped and basically unbuffed except for the fact she was wielding her epics. So when you make 60 expect to see those crits go over 600, hers were. Wish I knew what bow she was using. I wouldn't have believed it, if I wasn't standing right next to here when she did it.

the 130 range makes it nice for pulling with.. but if you insist sure, you can have it, and you can pull rather than letting a warrior pull with this too :p

hehehe, if you think that 130 range is all that then you need to do some homework. its decent, but there are bows that have better range and are FAR easier to get IE: Bow of the Huntsman

Sorry to burst your bubble but obviously you have yet to reach the high level game. Warriors don't pull - monks do that. Warriors do nothing well except ask for rezzes.
forgot to post new level. also, you are flaming the credibility of others being at higher levels, lets see you post who you are so maybe someone will take notice and respect for your advice.
on a very large note... I BEG TO DIFFER! sure monks pull when fiegn death to split mobs is needed, but i often find myself doing a lot of pulling, if not more often than monks, especially when an enchanter CAN mez multiples and/or charm songs/spells are available. btw, i can honestly sasy that i dont need to bug for rezes very often, same goes for those i group with! ;P

Got it tonigt but can't remember what type of rat it was (not like you have a choice in choosing which ones to fight LOL). Used one disc on it before we left, using 6dmg arrows. Highest crit I got (hit for double damage) was 402, so hit it for 804 total. My guess is you can get into the 600s and 700s with disc for single shot(have seen other rangers do it).

Good luck getting a Windstriker, especially at level 40. Considering it takes multiple trips to Air (with the level 46 requirement) to complete the quest, and that there are maybe 2 on all of Fennin Ro.. yeah, ok.

Was in Icewell the other day and ranger hit for 364 crit with bow of the huntsman using 1 damage arrows so I think they would be able to do around 500s with this

it was a 55+ mouse not a named one or anything but one above 55 i think we got it off a 56 chesomething warr ...hehe there are some rats down there but most are realy mice it's sad when are gnome is ******** about getting summoned by something smaller then him hehe

NOPE - Sorry, Only SK's and Rangers can get a crit w/ a bow. You should have been a Ranger!

Not true. I'm a warrior, and though I don't use bow often, few warriors do, I still get Critical hits with bows.

what it looks like equiped and what level the Mob is that drops it. I am a ranger and yes..I am drooling over this. With a 40% haste from Swiftwind and a quick from your friendly nearby enchanter and maybe a Dex buff...OMG, can I change my name to Tommygun?

i think the sound you hear is the collective sound of all the rangers in norrath whimpering at the thought of a crit with this thing...either that or they are all crying cause it took EQ -how long- to get a decent bow dropped? :)

I whole heartedly agree. My archery skills suck because I can do more efficient damage with melee weapons or spells, as puny as they maybe. A Weapon like this would be a terror. Anyone wanna buy a Trueshot.

You know the sad part? The best critical you could obtain with this would be a little below a hundred :/ For a level 50ish ranger that is. I'm still waiting for a real bow, or hoping they fix the damage on them making archery worthwhile.

you are very wrong. i use summoned arrows from my tolans bracer, and those are only 3 damage. i have gotten crits up to 144
this also takes into account the double-damage factor when still and not rooted... i have crit for over 100 when no double-damage was added.
AND....i use a wind saber...13/22...ONLY 13 dmg.
thats a total of 16 damage making up to 144 crit. NOW...can u imagine what i could crit with THIS?!?!? MUAHAHAHA

My highest crit, non-trueshot discipline, is around 250 with a bow of the underfoot. My highest crit with the Windsaber so far is 179, non-moving, non-rooted, not using the trueshot discipline, with STR at 219 and DEX at 188, me at level 56.

look, with str buffed, and dex at 255 buffed, summoned arrows(3 dmg) and wind saber (13/22), i have crit twice now, for 144. no joke. no ****. this WAS however, with the double-damage count because it was not rooted, so without that, the crit would have only been 72. i have crit for over 72 when a mob was rooted as well, so i believe i could crit above 144 with double damage. also keep in mind, that i am level 56. that factors in some extra damage.
somewhere around here i think i have a screenshot of that crit...i'll try to post it somewhere for you

I guess if he wont beleive a 144 crit from a 13dam bow he wont even consider 900+ crits from a 40dam bow. Muahahaha /disc trueshot in yo face PALLLLLLLLL

with a 13dam weapon (swiftwind) and Combat Fury 1, i can melee crit up to about 125... With the Bow of the Underfoot (33dam) my highest crit so far was 576dam using summoned arrows (3dam). And i know i can get much higher than that.

Are you sure about that? I am Level 29 Ranger and I am hitting for 44pts criticals with class one (1) arrows and my Trueshot.
At level 50 I would expect to be doing alot more.

We got a few 30/40 bows with a proc in Kael, and our ranger didn't want it because she has Windsaber... I'd definitely use it over my shaped darkwood 2-cam though, seems to be the only rogue-usable bow in Velious so far.

What bow is this? We got the Bow of the Huntsman from Kael which is 20/30 with proc spirit strike. Which is STILL Better than Windsaber. I was standing off letting rip with this bad boy and just machine gunning for 70 and 80 a pop and critting for 140's easy. I could crit higher than that even. Only problem is I was just chewing though arrows like there's no tomarrow and really could only do it against the giants...

any one can get it... but try to talk one of those lvl 55+ out of it... my alt is under lvl 30.. and I'd love to have a good bow... one shot and into close up combat..they need to get some good bows for lower lvl peeps... and i don't meen to have a b*tt load of ubertwinks running around but not all low lvl peeps are unable to get by... I was a master fletcher before lvl 10 and rising fast.. we should be able to make some stronger bows for ourselfs..
