I like how you are calling people stupid and can't even spell since. sence = I sense a moron calling people stupid. Get it stupid?
look at the level to obtain~ omg why is everyone 60 something befor they even concider this quest~ epic 1.5 is lvl 65 ~ 1.0+mana robe=alll mana hehe for the 50's!

Got the staff today (stromm server). Some parts of the staff are worse than the crystalline staff of the springs, while some are a bit better!

Took me 14 times to kill phinny for the Blue Crystal Staff drop...... I wouldn't advise the MQ. It sucks to have to go through all the kills and respawn times, but I think it's worth it. If you want to, you always have the option to skip the 1.0 and run directly to the 1.5 prequest. I like the clicky effect on the 1.0, but as soon as you get the spell Etherskin at lvl 68, it becomes kind of pointless.

Ok Most people think there is a Faction Problem.. Well there is.. but only stupid wizzies cant figure it out.. u can use a spell which u had sense lower lvls.. i did this quest killed enraged golem 1 day... killd VS the next day.. and had phinni's staff mqed to me.. he said there was a faction problem.. The EAsyer way to do this.. is invis the person mqing stuff.. its that easy.. no more faction problem.. so hope this helps

OK Maybe if people where not Stupid Then They could figure this out on there own... You CAn MQ this staff.. Most say there is a faction issue.. WELL Deal with it.. cast invis on the guy tryin to mq it to u.. its that easy... i killed Enraged golem first day.. waited 3 days killed vs .. then had phinni's staff mq'd to me.. he said ya there was a faction problem... then i cast invis on him.. which all wizz's have.. then blam.. it worked. Hope this helps all yall..

He is found a little ways away along the water near a goblin camp.

Specifically, he's south of the docks, along the seashore, among the 3-4 dwarves between the two aqua goblin camps.
Often, however, he's not up (presumably killed by people killing the dwarves), and his spawn cycle is fairly long -- maybe 3 days. I suggest binding there at the camp, and then every time you die, you can see if he's there.

I just started my epic quest, talked to Solomen and got the note, blah, blah...then i port over to odus and go to the vasty inn..but no Camin anywhere. What gives? Does he wander or something? Any info would be appreciated.
I had trouble finding Camin myself, but read some of the posts in the Bestiary concerning Camin. He is still in the same place but I can confirm that he respawns approximately 72 hrs after a server reset. He was last seen on

These times are from the Bertoxxulous server and as you knwo we had a major patch on Thursday morning and a couple of smaller ones since that time.
I hope this helps others find Camin when they can.

Camin doesn't spawn until 3 days after a server reset. One of the more annoying things about an otherwise not too hard epic.
Camin, the Broken Golem in Fear, and that Firepot gmone in BB all spawn after the server has been up for 72hrs.
At least they finally fixed VS. VSR was spawning on server reset, and it took 72hrs for VS to spawn, no matter when VSR was killed. They reset the server ever 2 days for a while there.

If you don't have a guild that is willing to waste a lot of time for its members the broken golem is impossible making wizard epic one of the hardest. Other epic fights can be done in groups even the ones in plane of hate and sky but broken golem has at least 150k and there's hardly any way you can damage it with spells even if lures hit a few times...

Killed broken golem last night. Went with a group to kill Dread for the shammy epic, and he was up. It's a long fight, but with 1 group and a good healer you could do it, to be safe I would take 1 group with two healers and two tanks, and another group to keep the adds off everyone. Biggest problem was the adds.
Also, it's a very long fight around 10 minutes. make sure to push the golem in a small circle near a zone wall, and not back out into the middle of the zone.

OK, now that they changed PoF for the Beserker Epic, it is a pain to go into. Here is my question....
What is a good way to know if the Golem is up in PoF? I don't want to waste my guilds time. My nephew went in their w/his druid and got crushed as soon as he zoned in !
So I want to say to the guild, "He is up !".
Any ideas?
Also, what is the spawn rate on him? Does he have a PH? IYO, what would it take to bring him down force wise?
Feedback would be awesome !!! I want to finish this!

* He spawns on about a 3 day timer, but it varies (not sure by how much, but like a half a day. I have heard of several very creative ways of checking up on the golem. I know someone who invisied and camped a naked semi-retired ranger in a "relatively" safe spot in the zone. He was escorted by a group of lvl 65 players who ported out as soon as he camped. He just logged on every once in a while to see if it was up.
* Probably the easiest thing to do, is to plan a raid for about 3 days after a server reset. 2 - 3 high level groups with a couple of enchanters, a Cleric, and some good tanks is enough, so its not like you are trying to organize a 6 group raid.
* You can use the 'Zerker Epic dude to your advantage. Hook up with a raid heading off to kill him that is willing to kill the golem too. A raid force big enough to kill the zerker epic mob in Fear would most likely be overkill for the enraged golem.

I am a mid 40s Wiz, (will be 50 soon) looking into starting this. My guild is small, 30 people at the moment, but we are good at our classes and have made so friends in other guilds. The guilds highest member is a mid 50s wizard, so we are not really that strong. I was wondering Which (if any) of the kills My guild and I would be able to do. I am about to start it, if just to get some of the running around out of the way, but I wouldnt mind starting to get one or two of the turn ins.

IF you can get a few ppl 65 or over, you can do the entire epic with one group. Its safer to do Fear with 12 ppl tho. Any high-lvl chanter can just use AE mez on the mobs if you keep them together and mobs are green or light blue to a 70. Easy to tank.
Just tell everyone to leave the greenie imp PH ALONE while you break the zone. A good chanter is your best pal in Fear. We do it all the time with about 8 people.

None of these will be easy for you. I would start with Phinny. He is doable by a decent raid force of high 40s - mid 50s. Furthermore, Phinny is the most stingy of the 3 epic mobs. The Golem always drops the oil. VS drops the Gnarled staff at least half the time. But, the Blue Crystal staff is a rare drop off of phinny. I have heard of Wizzies dropping Phinny 10+ times before they got their staff.
I got lucky, Phinny and VS both dropped their bits on the first try.
VS is tougher, and you need a good tank, healers and chanters. The Golem is in Fear... enough said.

what is a "decent raid force" for Phinny? I was talking to a few friends that have been doing this a while, and a 65 TIME / GoD War friend of mine has been feeding me stuff about Phinny being a cake walk... maybe for him...

how much- u can probally do with a group of 55's as long as they know what their doing. Just dont get mad adds and ur fine.

I would aim for either;
3 groups of 50-55
2 groups of 55-60
1 group of 65s (or less)
Assuming balanced groups etc. Can be done solo by a number of classes lvl 65 with the right aa's.
Quite a good idea to get timer on Phinny pop time and ask to pick up unwanted drops - as drops rot all the time on this guy.

phinny is soloable by any class that can do dmg and is 65.

Hail! I have a question about the Staff of the Four. I am level 47, almost 48. I have received the note from Solomen, handed it in to Caimen, and also handed him the 1k. I do have a raid force ready, but I am not sure if the NPC's will eat my turn ins. Please enlighten me!

can confirm wiz epic is doable at 47, quested 04/03/2004 on drinal. just make sure your faction is good and should be no problem at amiably faction, do sham epic peices if you need faction or to make sure you have enough.

I believe if u try the turn ins under 51 they will get eatin =\..that is what i have heard and read. I too have all the components and i am just wating for 51..hope this helped =)

Golem the first day after faction was fixxed, Phinny first kill, VS second kill, hand in went fine at indifferent, just did all parts in order. However, one of my friends did it and got his pieces ate at apprehensive after doing all parts, I somehow lost faction, and can no longer get the sprocket from the gnome in BB at apprehensive either.

Is the Staff MQable?
Many MQ’s have failed recently. I think that may be due to faction issues.
Just yesterday, we did a successful MQ for my epic. Both myself and the mage were Apprehensive to Arantir. I’d done all the hand ins and should have correct faction, unless I killed something I shouldn’t have at some point (kinda likely).
Arantir does not see invisibility.
Magician handed in the Blue Crystal Staff, and I invised him before he clicked the Give button. After he said he had done the turn in, we did same thing for me, I gave both Gnarled Staff and Staff of Gabstik to Arantir, but had mage invis me before I clicked the Give button.
Got my bag. Ported to Nek, went up to Sol Temple, gave Solomen the bag, got my new whacking stick.
Mage finished his epic 20 mins before hand. So we were both stoked.
I ran to the fridge for a celebratory beer, and there was much rejoicing.

65 Cleric
65 Enchanter
65 mage
65 Ranger
65 Wizz
Mob was unslowed but Cleric ended up with about 50 mana. All were rodded and AA's were up. Little mage pets and harvests were used. Trueshot and everlasting quiver too...
Definitly clear the whole PoF if you want to fight him at spawnpoint. Take your time with that.
Pet got virtue and the normal hastes and stuff... and then we just vented ourselves on it...

I went looking for Camin at the Vasty Inn in Erudin yesterday and he was NO WHERE to be found - not in the room he is said to be in nor any other room. What gives? Is he elsewhere at other times, or only there occasionally?

This quest should be renamed to the true test of long suffering. I started Staff of the four when i was lvl 55(0 AAs)and got my VS staff. Then after a few fear raids and 3 months later I got my Oil from the golem; the whole time camping Phinny. I have as of now killed phinny 35+ times have seen 5 mage staffs and 4 or 5 of each other epic drops as well. So why does vernat make the wizard staff so stinking rare. Its bad enough i don't got mine but there are also 3 other wizards that have killed him 30 times or so and they don't have thiere staff so even getting him to kill isn't easy. I am now a 65 wizard with 60 AAs still swimming around KK knowing i may never get the drop.I even have a better primary than the epic now but still want the thing just so i can say i didn't waste all that time for nothing
Posted this under the quest section, but also thought I should put it in here, even though it doesn't exactly belong. The info might be very important to a lot though so here it is as well.
An easy way to raise your TS faction:
1. Find yourself a friendly chanter to tag along.
2. Both go to either OOT or BB (Or wherever you can get the gem, never seen anything about the Cabilis guy before). Both of you bind close to where the mob pops.
3. Kill the "PH" to make the spirit pop, have chanter charm him and just /say I wish to know more to receive your gem.
4. Get to FP via PoK portal and open a trade window with the barbarian in the sewers, have the chanter invis you to indiff. BEFORE you click trade. (This still works as of Aug. 28th 2003) You should get your TS hit and some unnoticeable XP.
5. Gate back to where you talked to the spirit to get the gem and redo the steps until you turn indiff yourself, at which point both the spirit and barbarian will be happy enough to see you to let you get the gem and do the turn in without any help, should you wish.
Once you've done 2 or 3 turn-ins you get the hang of it, hence the speed increases and you only need to kill the PH every other time, next time you gate the spirit will still be up for you to charm and/or talk to for a new gem if you are quick.
Very easy and fairly quick if you bind at the spot and with you being a wizzy it's quick enough to port you and chanter to PoK and run to FP.
Took me 5 or 6 runs to get my own indiff faction and then I did some more to amiable, juuust to be sure.
Ooh and also, the barbarian need not be at his spawn point in the sewers. After every gem he gets he makes the small walk to start the shammy epic quest, but he only walks to the other side of the house outside the sewer entrance, stands around for a bit and then walk back. I tried turning in at the regular spot, by the house and running after him through the canal and it worked just fine for me every time.

Solomon(Temple of Ro)---Camin(Erudin Inn)-buy potion(Ro's Breath, Halas/Thurg) return to Camin then go find---Arantir(Halas)-He is actually hidden by a potion merchant near Shaman guild, same merchant that sells the potion for Camin, hand him the potion that Camin hands back to you. Spawns Arantir. He hands you a ring---Challice(Felwithe Paladin guild)-Hand her the ring, she returns it---Arantir(To respawn him, I handed the merchant the ring BUT, some people have had problems with it, so dont try it if your not willing to get him to spawn again to redo that part)-Ask him about the gnome, he give you a note, the rest of it is just quest lore---Firepot (Butcher Block Mnts)-Hand him the note, he will say something about his brother, go through his dialog to get the gear~~~
**The Killings**
-Venril Sathir (55 Warrior, Procs 1500 dmg Lifetap roughly 26k hp) Spawns 72 hrs (3 days) after he is killed +/- 12 hrs. Is up after server reset. (VSR is up RIGHT after server, but he despawns after about an hr or so, then VS spawns). Drops Gnarled Staff
-Phinigel Autropos (53 Wiz) Spawns every 12 hrs. (I believe he is up right after server reset as well). Drops Blue Crystal Staff
-Broken/Enraged Golem (65 war) 72 hrs (3 days) is NOT up after server crash, Cazic's spawn does effect him. Hand the gear to the broken golum, he goes crackpot and gets enraged, turns on you. Kill him, get Oil---Firepot-Give oil to him for Staff of Gabstik and note to Arantir
**Final Turn-ins**
Take the note to spawn the Arantir, hand him the 3 staves. He hands you a pack---Solomon-Hand Pack to him for spinny clicky epicy staff.
I've gotten all but VS at this point, I was incredabally lucky and got Phinny on the 1st Try, and was on a fear raid when Golem popped, Done VS once, and he didnt drop the staff, I should have him soon.

I just turned 56 last night and I am quite bored of quadding wyverns (although it PAYS an average of 750pp per yellow bubble of AAXP). I'm currently working on my second Mental Clarity point.
For a few days I've been reading forums, studying maps and peoples' comments on the various part of this epic. I'm really looking into it and even though "practice makes perfect", I prefer to be well aware of most of the dangers doing it. I'd like to get it by level 60 or when I'll active Manaburn...
All this to simply ask : what the heck is that 2nd effect on staff ?

With a little research you find that some spells and abilities with mana regen, have that regen stuck in slot 5, it has to do with the way sony wants spells to stack. This line is saying its going to Block any new buff if that stacking slot is effect 'Mana' and < 20 ,. Which means if the meets the criteria, AS in..it in effect slot5,the is effect mana regen and it its less than "20" or 2 per tick..it wont overwrite BoFS. Which is 3 mana per tick
So heres a better explanation, level 64 Force shield which is 2 mana per tick, will not overwrite BoFS which is 3. But the BST spell Spiritual Dominion will overwrite them both
Heres the slot 5 info from all 3 spells, taken directly from this sight.
Force shield
Increase Mana by 2 per tick
Barrier of Force
Increase Mana by 3 per tick

None of these will stack...and the BST buff will overwrite them all, Im sure you wont complain.

So heres a better explanation, level 64 Force shield which is 2 mana per tick, will not overwrite BoFS which is 3. But the BST spell Spiritual Dominion will overwrite them both
Heres the slot 5 info from all 3 spells, taken directly from this sight.
Force shield
Increase Mana by 2 per tick
Barrier of Force
Increase Mana by 3 per tick
Spiritual Dominion (BST Buff)
Increase Mana by 9 per tick

Wrong. Force Shield and the Beastlord clarity stack. For this reason epic is almost useless once you hit 64 other than for the stats of the weapon.
I hear the easiest way is to goto the guy in Freeport that accepts the gem you get from a lesser spirit. Bind there, use PoK portal and goto cabilis. Kill an Iksar marauder near kurns tower, boom there's a lesser spirit and go through the right crap you say to him and you have the gem. Any other mobs that spawns the lesser spirit is too far away from the books or a portal in my opinion. Though if that invis trick works ***** this crap just do that. :p

Lesser Spirit would not talk to me at Apprehensive.
I have given Camin an extra 1k, and got a faction hit, but I am still apprehensive.
Midget won't talk to me to give me the sprocket.
Don't remember getting a note to give to him. Maybe I screwed up somewhere. Probably have to do the potion again when Camin is up next.
EDIT:
Silly me. I hadn't finished the messenger part to get the ring then note.
After doing that, the midget will talk to me. Do not need to hand him the note.

Does the Wizard Epic Ever become Trival? Can a L65 wizard start from scratch and do the Epic and get the Staff?

Took 10 Phinny kills and one VS kill so now all I need is to get the Golem. Tho I hear the bigger guilds keep rangers parked in Fear to see when he pops :( Not worried tho..I'll just go on Fear raids and one day the broken will be up and I'll say hey guys lets give this to the golem and see what happens :p
