I won this last night in the second Ikkinz raid instance, droped of a random trash mob. Pulled out of the first room on the right. Our second clearing of this instance, first drop. I love the stun resist, helps as MA to get of those stuns when I am geting beat on.

Until the GoD expansion poison focus items were amongst the rarest and most overlooked of all, and this was one of the VERY rare items that addressed poison dot damage. When I saw the name Drmiangoth, I thought you were an SK, but now I see you are one one Mith Marr's finest, I can only say SKs, BLords, necros and shaman everywhere despise you!

Unless of course there were none in group, in which case grats :o)

Had a ranger in my guild bid on this. I wanted to strangle him. Luckily a SK won it. only time I've seen it drop in the 4 times we've done Ikky2. He says he gets 400dmg a tick with one of his poison dots now. I'm still hoping it drops next time we clear ikky2

Shaman Item

This would be awesome for a Shaman. Not sure if necro's get decent poison based Dot's, though.

FYI They get some of the same poison-based DoTs that shamans get (i.e., Envenomed Bolt) and they get equivalents or better for the poison-based DoTs that don't have the exact same name in the shaman spell book.

It may be true that Necro dots are just a hair more damaging than Shaman per spell. However, if you look at a purely dps point of view. I would give this to a shaman... why? Shaman at the appropriate lvl have access to much more mana. So over the course of a raid or ldon adventure, a shaman doing essentially doing the same job can output more damage by casting more often.

"Shaman at the appropriate lvl have access to much more mana."

Huh? Try posting that on a necro board. They might be laughing too hard to hurt you too bad.

heh a well equipped necro at this point in the game should have oodles of mana and mana regen is not a problem. necros are dps machines

Necromancers get better poison based DoT's than Shamen. Blood of Thule is A better spell than blood of saryrn, or whatever the highest level shaman poison dot it. Necrodots have no dd component and thus don't break root. Necromancers dots are in all ways and at all times better than Shamen's.

LOL try looking at the spell lists next time your rant. BoT is 335/tick for 7ticks. Blood of Saryn is 320/tick for 7ticks. Both of them have no DD to begin with. In fact, shams stop having DD dots at around lvl 51, same time necs do. You got shamans beat by bout 105dmg there. And no, your dots arent always as strong as shamans. If you go take a look at both lists they hop scotch all the way till lvl 65. Both classes have thier strengths in different areas, but i would not try to go as far and say the Nec dots are always gonna be better then a shamans. FYI i play both sham and nec, but my necro is only lvl 48, im still growing with him. Over all i would have to say hes more fun for my solo time. /rant off

The big diffenence between dot damage of necros and shamans is agro. Try to use your dots on a raidtarget which isnt dead in 2 min. You will be summoned fast. Poison dots generate a lot of agro and you cant FD to lower your agro.

Dude you have no clue what your talking about, you totally forgot to mention the biggest factor of them all, a shaman's first job is SLOW, then DOT, a necros first job is DOT. We are DPS, we do it well, shaman are not DPS they can only stack what...4 dots? maybe 5? As a necro, I can stack 10 and thats without night fire. Know your class before posting. My best fiend has a shaman and his DPS is crap compared to mine, and he's fine with that, because he saves raids asses with slow and backup heals. Nuff said.
RE: Shaman Item
# Oct 13 2004 at 7:18 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, it all depends on circumstance. Some mobs are immune to slow & many mitigate it, meaning that a shammy slow may not be required. You also don't really need to slow when root / rotting or agro kiting. Or you could have 2 shaman. In all of these situations, shammies can add good dps with their dots.

And I don't understand why you think they can only stack 4 or maybe 5 dots. Spells of the same line stack fine, so we can throw in 2-3 poison, 2-3 disease & maybe 3 or 4 magic based dots if we're so inclined. Plus Epic on top. The difference between shammy & necro dots is very marginal, bar the resist adjustments that necros get.
Rogue poisons too?

Wonder if the focus effect will work on rogue applied poisons or poison dot weapon procs?

Foci do not work on procs. However if you had a poison dot clicky item (snakefingers) this would focus that. Clicky items the game considers as you casting (for DoT's atleast).

Focus Items do not work on clicky-cast spells or effects either. As an elder shaman, I have items that increase the casting range, damage, and duration of all my DoTs, but none of them work with the effect from my Epic, the Spear of Fate, which has a clicky magic-based DoT. However, AA Abilities (noteably, the GoD-era chance to do double damage on any given tick) DO still work with clicky DoTs.

Doesn't mean I don't still use it soloing though!

IIRC

Clicky get focus bonus if its a spell u get in your spell book. Thus epic doesnt get bonus but some clickies that are a replacement of a spell do.

Just what I want to remember.

it wont work. Focus effects are hard coded to not work for all pure melee classes, and bards.

Good question I cant remember if DD focus effects DD proc's but I dont think they do so my first guess would be no but who knows maybe rogue poisons are different or maybe DD's are effected by Improved damage focus effects.
