The newest effect is now "Improved Healing 2", which grants a 15% bonus to all heals between 20 and 45. This item is AMAZING for clerics levels 34 to 49 simply due to the fact Superior Healing (which they get at 34) can heal up to 750+ dmg with this item equipped! That's almost as good as the level 60 druid heal spell. /wow
I am healing for 690~720 with this item on Superior Healing, level 35 Cler, Alteration is at 180, WIS 194, and Spec:Alt is about 116 I think. All of these, to my knowledge, can affect how much you heal for. I'm willing to bet the "up to 750" is considering a level 60 Cleric with 255 WIS, 200 in Alteration, and 200 in Spec:Alt. Not really sure.

Level 1 items work for spells 1 to 20 Level 2 items work for spells 1 to 44 Level 3 items work for spells 1 to 60
I have several level 2 items and they all seem to effect my sub-20 spells, i.e. sow, lev, etc. so this means that if you have an item with a level 3 effect there's no sense in getting another item with the same effect of a lesser level. I.E. if you have something with Extended Affliction 3 don't bother getting one with Extended Affliction 1 or 2
I am pretty sure that it gives a 20% bonus, not 15%, at least my 77-85 pt heal was hitting near 100 almost all the time with my Improved healing 1 piece.
Just looted this last night 5-10-02 off of a regular zol knight in Disco 2. The int and wis plus mana bonus is nice but any extra MR makes this a permanent item in my secondary. Was an awesome night, in about 1.5 hours we looted this, a JBB, slimey harpoon, and a clay guardian shield. 2 lvl 59 rogues are simply a killing machine.
did they really nerf this, can i get a conformation? Are the old one's still primary slot, or do i just have to give up getting a book for my primary? e-mail me @ superjosh191@hotmail.com
yeah, this is secondary slot only. if you really want a book for your primary slot, get a Spirit Tome. its 6wis 6int primary secondary and it has a nice open book look to it. but, depending on server, you could be paying up to 1k for one.
I picked one up on 11-19-2001. As of that date <prolly earlier>, the Book of Obulus is secondary only. That negates any chance of holding Testament of Vanear and Book of Obulus....so the logical alternative is Paw and Book of Obulus. I have 200 wis with ToV and PoO but only 198 wis with PoO and BoO. All in all, the resists benefit you more than the +10 mana from the ToV. Quite happy as I got an excellent deal in a trade for the BoO. Has any seen a BoO that is not secondary recently?

I got one of these from a high level RL pal. Wow, did I ever get more useful in groups! I expect that Iwill be keeping this thing around for a loooong time- wouldn't be surprised to wield it alongside my epic in about 31 levels=)
so what it has -2 wis under the ToV, that 2 wis wouldent make up 35mana. same true with the int, in caster apps, this book gives more mana from int and mana stats that it kills the stine of moggok
