In the North East area of the map, there is a house on the lake. This house is full of the mobs that drop this gem. I cleared the house twice and had my drop. The respawn is about 20 min.

Directly above the UP tunnel there is a "ledge" that goes some way along and it is easy to set up camp up there and pull the Xi Vius and Xi Xaui as they roam past among the "hills" (becareful of adds because they do path to the edges of the ledge).

If they don't have a pet it is best not to pull multiples because they will be a cleric and the CH is rather annoying fighting solo.

I remeber reading somewhere that the gem drops off of the 4 armed mobs in the zone. So I spent a good 3 hours killing just the Xin Thal's, with no drops. I later came back and saw the gem also drops off the hooded mobs Xi Vious and Xi Xaui. So I cleared the mobs near UP. Got both drops with in 10 minutes. Don't waist your time with the 4 armed mobs. They don't have the Gems.

Note: While collecting the Gem, You might be able to save yourself some time down the road by killing the 3 spawn of wolves near the UP zoneline. They are located at the Firey cauldron. You are looknig for the Frantic Ravonous Beast. Will drop essence needed later down the road.

gem of the void

Bah, been camping the UP zoneline off ME for 6 hours and not one gem. Xin Thall seems nerfed, as at least 50% of the time it doesn't even have any loot on corpse. And yeah, I know I'm lazy for just now doing my 1.0 at lvl 70 and I won't even use the claws, but I want to do the 1.5

The phrase 'rare as rocking horse ****' comes to mind...I've trained myself with Xi <name the variant here> mobs repeatedly for hours on end and seen not a single gem drop when trying to help with friends epics. Have they screwed with the drop rate or something?
can't find one
# Oct 08 2004 at 10:19 PM Rating: Decent
my wife's bst (64) and and me (cleric 64) with a shammy bot (59) have been camping these for bout 6 hours now with not a sign of one. we've been camping the ruins straight out from DSP zoneline. anyone have an idea of where would be better to get one? 6 hours with nothing whereas others have found one within an hour is not good odds.

edit: after 2 hours one day and 4 hours the next day, a friend of ours finally came by and took us to a hill next to the coterie camp near dsp. we pulled the wandering xi guys from there and in about 3 hours found 2 of them. our friend said they must have changed the drop rate because in about this same amount of time a few weeks back (before OoW) she would have had 6ish by that time. so i think the drop rate has been messed with. i could be wrong though....

A good spot in Dawnshroud Peaks is in the tunnel leading to Umbral Plains. If you pull the gate guardians and surrouding Xi types, the drops are surprisingly regular. I was helping a Beastlord bud farming for cultural armor drops. The gems were dropped say 1 out of 5 or 6 Xi type mobs.

Ok firstly i got my BL epic today at 56 and i'm absolutely chuffed to bits, already got a better off hand though, but just love the look. Easily the best looking epic with bard coming close second IMHO.

Anyways, was camping ME trying to get these just doing shouts since i couldn't find a group. When i decided to bite the bullet and try and solo them. Did extremely well on the first one so decided to zone get kei and Virtue. Tis made the job a lot safer although i had to zone after i pulled one of the cleric mobs (he Chealed himself when i was very nearly oom) anyways a druid killed the mob and sent me a tell saying it had dropped. God how i loved that druid, anyways best bet is to hunt near 4 arms building in the corner by the lake, although solo i just sat on the hill near the first coterie. I've got fairly decent gear on my char, but nothing surprised me more than when an even con ravenous beast agro'd me and i solo'd him as well. Just incase peeps don't know, at high level all cons are based upon you being part of a group, hence Dblue mobs being a lot harder than you think.

Finally they don't drop in AR since i've been raiding there a lot, although the 54 pet proc spirit of snow does apparently drop there. And lots of spells also drop in ME, i was lucky enough to get some bard songs for my twink and also some rare spell drops as well. Hope you're all as happy as i am today

oh btw the SK mobs are the easiest to solo, they do not cheal and their pet is extremely weak, about lvl 20ish or so

"incase peeps don't know, at high level all cons are based upon you being part of a group"

why do people insist on perpetuating this myth?

At 44 I got into a group in Maiden's Eye (the most pitiful group ever) and we killed one thing... one of the weird Xi guys. He dropped a Gem of the Void. Little did I know it was for my epic (I'm a Beastlord), and it was left to rot. *sigh*
Got one to drop of a disturbed elysian remains
# Feb 05 2003 at 8:20 PM Rating: Decent
I was soloing in Up killing the elysian's as all good druids should, and dropped a gem of the void. I haven't hunted here that much so I don't know how common they are off them, can any other druids who've killed these confirm there drop rate?

Wow! That's news...wonder if it's just a bug...unless they're expanding where they drop...?

Thanks for the info though Smiley: smile

I have not seen these drop in AR. They are a semi-rare drop in ME. Got both gems in an hour or so of hunting there.
