Best Place to Pull
# Jan 05 2005 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
[/b]Does anyone know if there is a "best place" to pull these mobs to? I have no problem (2 boxing)taking 1 or 2 of them at a time but when I get multiple adds it gets pretty hairy and often need to use Druid's Succor to safely leave the battle. Is there a place that I can pull to? I just need these guys to drop the "Gem of the Void" for my BL epic... after they "graciously" drop what I need I will be happy to leave them be.

When you enter Maiden's Eye from Dawnshroud Peaks you will see a large rock to your right and a tree a little bit further right, close to the zone wall.
Between this rock and tree is a good place to fight, kite or root and shoot/dot.
Further past the tree is a little hill, on the other side of which are 2 huts in a little valley with a 3 coterie spawn, vampyre bats and skeletal drudges pathing through.
The Xi's can be pulled from the ruins (which are straight out from the Dawnshroud Peaks entrance), or you can pick off roamers which will path towards the area where the rock/tree is.
If pulling Xi's from the ruins, be mindful of the Xin Thal Centiens, the 4 armed gals, which can be Shadowknight/Necro types or clerics (CH 3 times one fight oy).
There are 2 Centiens just as you enter the ruins, visible from outside the ruins, that should be taken out first.
Once these 2 are gone, there are 4 to 6 Xi's that can be pulled before running into more Centiens.
Respawn time on the Centiens and Xi's in those ruins is approximately 20 minutes.
The roamers are generally Xi Xaui or Xi Vius, but can also be an umbrous toiler, a spectral wolf, or a ravenous beast, very rarely will there be a higher level and harder hitting reanimated drudge.
Gem of the Void is a fairly common drop, I have seen roughly 1 drop from every 10 Xi's on Stromm server.
Post is a bit late and I'm sure you have your gem by now but what the heck...

These can go lower than 50, yesterday evening I was hunting in Maiden's Eye and saw a few of these that were dark blue to me at level 49.

Something else interesting I noted: they are females.

Targeted (NPC): Xi Xaui
Right click on the NPC to consider her.

Dropped druid spell Spirit of Eagle today as well.
Not too bad
# Jun 17 2003 at 3:36 AM Rating: Decent
Can take these easily using:
52 SK Ogre
52 Druid
41 Enchanter (:B)

Once slowed, dotted several times, sk snare + his dots and mana tapped it wasn't too bad, resisted a few of the enc dots/debuffs (lol to be expected ;)), cleric class definately give the most trouble but as long as you keep bashing and keep pet behind mob to stun casts (also druid was casting a few nukes), no kei just clarity.

Did quite a few of these and got the belt to drop :)

Nice xp aswell for all involved.

Solo'd one of these things last night for the first time. I'm a 60 druid, charmed a lower-level ravenous beast and went to town. First one I killed dropped a Belt of Defiance (sorry I mispelled the name in the subject line)...very sweet melee belt whose stats I do not remember. Got my 45 warrior parked there now in case another one drops.

Happy hunting!

Kinda tough

These guys arn't that hard, but they do have CH and a nasty HT, the quad arms on the other hand are pretty mean.
RE: Kinda tough
# Sep 13 2003 at 9:29 PM Rating: Decent
Not all of these guys have CH only the cleric type do.

I have Identified 5 different class types of the Xi Xaui in a bout a month of hunting daily in ME.

First there are 2 branches easily identifiable those with pets and those without.

In the branch with pets there are 2 categories.

1 type is a caster
1 type is a melle type

In the branch without pets there is

1 The cleric best necro charmed pet in the game
1 Melee type (Warrior?)
1 This one is a caster but at same time is not a cleric

The last type is perhaps the rarest as I have only run into it once.

I will keep tabs on what spells are casts by the different types and post that info here in an edit. never bothered to before.

I was passing through to Umbral Plains last night and of course, (me being the lucky person I am) camo dropped as I passed this guy. I was quadded for 143-178 and hit by a nuke for 894.

Can you say ow? I was dead before I knew I was aggroed.... Well, just another thing I need to kill one day, MWAHAHAHA!!

Just like Xi Vius, Xi Xaui do drop shaded medallions. I had one drop on Dec 30 on Tallon Zek. They can be Wizards, Clerics, Shadow Knights, and, presumably, warriors since they never cast. None summon, and not too high resists. SKs harmtouch for up to over 700, wizards nuke for 800something, clerics for 620something. Also drop Luclin spells, up to 56 from what i have seen.

I was hunting gorangas in the NW corner of the zone ( head straight north from DSP ZL ) when one of these things headed into the west wall near me like he was chasing someone, only no one was there and no train had been called. He then repopped on me and nuked me for 516 damage while I had a goranga engaged already. Needless to say I ran to DSP as I couldnt remember if this was the real, bad a$$ Xi whatever or a lower level one. Apparently these can wander anywhere, but my message is this: If you are SURE you have found a safe spot, it will not be safe when you go afk. Ive spent 50 hours+ here and have never seen one of these wander near where I was pulling to, but a death due to thinking you are safe would have sucked. Be careful in ME.

NOTE: If you hang out at the zone lines ( especially to Dawnshroud Peaks ) and get killed by a called train, you either
A: havent spent any time in ME or
B: are a total moron
I only say this since trains are called every 5 min sometimes in ME and 90% of them are to DSP. So please dont set up camp near the zoneline unless you want to die.

Oh, BTW, I dinged finally :)

A small group was hunting these things (mostly for revenge), when I remembered that (1)They are undead, and (2)I can fear them.

So I hotkeyed my pally undead fear spell and went to town. Results?

[]You begin casting spook the dead.
[]This creature is immune to fear.
[]A Xi Xaui has the fear of life put into it.
(mob stands there for a few seconds)
(mob then repops nearby in a feared state)
(mob repops back at original spot)

[]A Xi Xaui has the fear of life put into it.
(mob just stands there hitting you)

(mob starts to run away, feared)

While touring Luclin for really the first time, 3 of us (all 51 - Paladin, Shaman, and Ranger) decided to check out ME. We were just about to pull and were attacked by this thing (conned even to us). The fight lasted what seemed like forever. This thing CHealed itself right when we thought the fight was won. Lay hands was down and the Shaman was almost oom at this point (needless to say we each began going down our pre-death checklists: loc, check; /who cleric, check). Luckily, it seems that the mob was oom as well (yes, he 'smited' the heck out of the Pally). Finally he went down. Our reward? ... a weapon with "a runed smudged somethingoranother": a neat name without the stats to match :(

Reason for my post? ... the particular spawn we fought was a 51 Cleric.

These mobs come in 2 flavors...Shadowknight and Cleric. The SK usually ht's right off the bat. The cleric can complete heal. This mob is very similar to the 6 arm robes in Maidens as well, only they run up to level 57ish.

swirling shadows are used in smithing to make shadowscrea armor Check www.eqtraders.com for recipies; requires at least a 200 in smithing for a good chance to succeed
