At this time, this is used to finance PDoT's and Pearls and food and water and whatever else people spend their plat on.

Prolly for tradeskills. In Bastion of Thunder a similiar item drops in one of the wings called "a pure drop of rain" you combine that item with 3 sandtorm gems you crush in a mortar and pestle to get an item you use to make parts of smithed armor with. This orb of marr probably has a similiar effect with the peices of destroyed metal you find layin around on the guardians of marr you kill. combining them all prolly allows you to make some other variant to smithed armor. I say this because damn near every other planar zone has a formula for that zones tradeskilled armor, dont see why this one wouldn't. either way its the rarer of the 2 components have a 250 brewer and smith play around with it and the other drops that drop in HoH see what htey can come up with. thats my best guess. No info on this on eqtraders yet. Hell no info on HoH at all there yet. tradeskilers musnt have had time to mess aroud there enough yet.

Alot of PoP items are continuations of the trend started in Velious, and expanded in Luclin, they are just vendor fodder. was a nice change IMO, instead of just piling more plat onto mobs
It could very well be that this is vendor trash, and nothing more. Most of the items have new info on them, such as "This item is used in tradeskills", this item doesn't.
Digressing, "A Drop of Pure Rain" drops in the East Wing, and is combined with Powdered Sandstorm Pearls (Drops as Sandstorm Pearl in South Wing, Combine 3 Pearls in Mortar and Pestle [no fail combine])
