SO what is the stargey to keep mob in room so it doesnt follow the guy who gets banished? 2 or 3 tanks with area taunt and take turns using it to keep mob in area?
ok everyone repeat after me...enchanters can't melee. Example...last night i was fully buffed with shaman buffs and almost 1000 atk with my 1hb maxed at 110. with my hammer (check profile) I miss I'd say 7 of 10 swings and those that connected are usually for a minimal amount of damage.
I use a 30/35 when i feel like meleeing, i hit for upwards of 126 after shammy buffs, ranger buffs, and my own buffs. sure, i dont hit often, but i average at about 86 wheni do hit, its somthing to do between spells
Your right we cant, but i like to do a lil melee when theres a shammy in group and im done dot'n (yes im a dot'n enchanter sue me) it gives me something to do instead of stareing blankly at all the pretty colors on the monitor. Just my 2cp.

I am a melee chanter even to the point of tanking from time to time(no not in planes sept on the occasion tank dies then i normally follow) but in a room full of casters and wielding Knotted Wooden Mallet hasted and booned or NTD gives me more mana to keep my self runed, slowing, debuffing, and doting, and even some dds and i still have more mana then i know what to do with. So dont say chanters cant melee... u just need to learn how to benifet your self from it
The focus effect lowers aggro by 40% on the Tash-line of spells. Those are the only spells in the chanters ******* that have anything to do with poison. Nice effect, let's you cast tash very early in combat without ping-ponging the mob. Good stuff.
Fanamin Starspinner Level 62 Enchanter Torvus`Vir on Druzzil Ro
I got this for my Girls chanter tonight and wanted to mess around with it..
I put haste on her and she was hitting fast as hell so then we desided to buff her up a bit full raid buffs she had 4135 hp now after all this lets avatar her and add some rangor buffs Im not joking her max hit was 121 I was like DAMN!!
with out her being buffed later on that night she was hitting in the high 30's and i saw a few 50's
But all in all nice weapon it gives chanters a chance to play melee when there bored.. and once hasted and with max skill they do some nice damage :)
Eh? No way I'm gonna melee even with this. Silly hehe. But the effect is to die for. It'll keep me alive a LOT. Scavenged one tonight, XPing at the zone line and a raid got one to drop that nobody wanted.
im a fool i think this is better than the epic. i use this as my main item (dont have epic yet, but when i do get it wont use it except for those dorks who doesnt want SoV).
i think the effect adds a chance for chanters to stun with their Tashes --- Innoruuk's Sarcasm 1: Chance to stun the opponent (25%) 2: Restriction: Spells level 65 and lower 3: Restriction: Only applies to 'Poison' spells --- being as tash is the only poison based spell that chanters have (that i know of at least)
Slot Description 1: Decrease Spell/Bash Hate by 25% 2: Limit: Max Level(65) 3: Limit: Effect(Poison Counter allowed)
Dont know why it says 25% chance to stun here, but Im more inclined to believe Lucy, 25% less spell aggro is a god send for enchanters who dont want to die on that first tash
Hell turing a 1.0sec casting time spell into a stun? An unresistable 1.0sec casting time spell? That costs next to nothing, has no extra recast time, and that has very little aggro (the level 4 version at least). This is a DREAM item, dear heavens I want one! This is one of the best new items I have seen, it is wonderfully creative. I hope to see more focus effects like this one!
Howl of Tashan (level 61 tash) generates more hate than about any other single spell a chanter has up to level 65. Definitely more hate than forlorn deeds, and arguably more than Insanity. The focus on this item is outstanding for the instances where regular tashing is required.
1. It does not proc anything, focus effect takes place when spells are cast.
2. It does not create more hate.
3. It lessens spell hate by 25% (e.g. enchanter casts tash or slow right as mob is pulled, he will get aggro and very likely die in the planes if cleric does not have him symboled; or if he isn't runed). So...this focus effect lessens the hate that the enchanter will get, and thus will allow the enchanter to tash/slow a bit earlier than normal, and you don't necessarily need to wait for warrior's crap taunt or their weapons' proc taunt, nor paladins' stun taunt(which i love[speaking as a cleric here], paladins make amazing MA's due to stun taunt keeping such nice aggro).
4. This focus effect is an enchanters' dream in the planes, if only it reduced spell hate by at least 40%
damage bonus is by character, and does not add to the weapon's damage.
this is enchanter only, and how often does YOUR favorite enchanter melee? they will have more aggro problems because of tash/slow/debuff than melee with this weapon. thats why there are warriors out there.
and the reason for this? i'm sure some caster classes are tired of having to choose between a melee weapon (great when your bored and jsut wanna poke at a mob) with no stats, and an object with stats that does not allow you to melee.
The only time I seen a chanter melee is when they want to gain aggro so there pet will attack and then back off. But at this level, I don't think they'll do that anymore...
Actually, I tank fairly frequently. I am a 61 enchanter on Veeshan. When I am paired up or soloing with a DC pet. I can keep bedlam on myself to help mitigate damage done if my partner is a non healer or the pet is getting low on health. I also melee in exp groups if the puller is good at his job and everything is locked down. And for those of you who say I can do more damage with spells than melee, yes that is true. However, my normal spell line up is slow, root, tash, GoK, Apathy, Boltrans or Stun, Bedlam and one buff slot. This makes it difficult to nuke :)
Essentially, a 27/18 piercer with good stats...for enchanters? Anyone know what the focus effect does? If it's even a little damaging, I sense serious agro problems.
It is a popular misconception that damage bonus is added to a weapon's damage ratio. This is not true.
Let's say I was using a 10 damage 20 delay weapon. with my warrior I would probably max out around 50 damage with this (just a guess). Assuming I had a 12 damage bonus on the weapon (again, just a guess) I would do a total of 62 damage on a perfect hit.
Now, if this weapon was 22 damage 20 delay (adding in the damage bonus to the ratio) I would be dealing about 100 points of damage or more per hit. the change is obvious, and this is why damage bonus isn't factored into the ratio
Bane damage is added to the ratio as stated, damage 'bonus' is just that... an additional few bonus points of damage after the damage from the ratio has been done.
Hopefully that helps clear things up a bit, but since I see this so often it kinda gets on my nerves and I had to say something :) If I left anything out feel free to fill in the gaps.
Thank you so much for clearing that up. I have heard of all sorts of logs and such done to figure up dps, but have never had anyone say how it works. I assumed as I guess most do, it goes into the ratio. That does however explain why when you hit you will always hit for at least that amount.
(Damage bonus is nominally 1 for those without one).
However... you obviously won't hit for max all the time. In practice you find its a distribution. Level difference of you and your target additionally gets dropped into this somewhere along the way... obviously if you fight green con mobs you'll find you do alot more max damage hits... and conversely if you fight red con mobs you'll hit for 1, or low damage alot more...
