Camped this guy today and still 8 PHs later still no sign. I have killed him in the past but that was more by accident seeing him there :) The repop period is 16.5mins for those who like to clock watch it.
The enraged soulstealer does not always drop the soulstripper. I've killed him and not had the weapon drop. The placeholder for this mob is not just any servant of hate. It is only the servant of hate located halfway into the side tunnel of the right side of the bridge,
ok i just killed this mob, and he dropped the Soulstripper along with Luggard Dagger, Luggard Blood, and Crystallized Sulfur. i let my merc do the kill while i stuned and dd him. he tryed casting root on me but my res is up so it didnt land on me. was useing my cleric to do the kill.
Just killed tonight not sure if this was a coincidence Chester was up killed a few PHs then decided what the hell i am going to kill Chester very next spawn was this with my mace was very excited only camped about 2 hours between 2 days. took him down with my 59 NEC unbuffed and pet unbuffed had 2612 hp and 4301 mana. Killed him in less then a minute. Had 97% health and about 63% mana. Definatley doable solo.
camped this jerk for 7 and a half hours, killing everything in the area and still no spawn.the only thing i didnt kill was chester, the ghost.now i am thinkin maybe i should have.oh well, will try it again sometime and see how it goes.good luck with the spawns.
Yes, he can drop soulstripper when it is not in his hand, or even when something else is in his hand. Had Luggald Dagger in his hand and it still dropped.
Solo'd this guy last night as a 56 necro. I have to say he surprised me though. Didn't realize he was a nuker and DOT'er, but luckily as a necro I could just chain nuke him with lifetaps to keep me alive. Just barely killed him with 20 mana left and about 45 pct HP.
53 troll shaman, i went with my cousin's 51 dorf pally, this guy had lots more hp then the other's but we got him to 20% and another mob spawned on me while i was cannibalizing, i was able to root hold the other mob till this guy gated on us, he didn't go very far and we didn't get anymore adds. he dropped the soulsripper, but he was not weilding it nor did he proc it. just found out about the stiocism quest after i killed this guy. that would have been very useful when the add spawned
This could be totally wrong but I solo this guy often and noticed something today...
All the posts are correct he spawns between the bridge and the stairs in the caves. His placeholder is indeed "A Servant of Hate" the one in the middle. As long as you have your resists up and watch the wanderers he's an easy solo for a 56 druid. Just make sure you have KEI. He does cast and dispell too so be careful...
Anyway, it usually takes me about three PH's to get this guy to spawn. They are 18 and 1/2 minute pops apart. I have read that once the Soulstealer is killed the next time he'll pop is 5 hours later. Well, I was there all day today. well about 8 1/2 hr's. I must have killed about 50 of the PH's and no spawn. The weird thing was Chester Steelblade was not up the whole time. Maybe a signal to look for so you don't stay there all day like I did is whether or not Chester is up. If he is leave him alone he will not attack you. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. It could be just a coincidence or maybe this will be an indication whether or not the Soulstealer will spawn.
Having killed the Soulstealer many times I thought i'd add my experiences. I first tried the Soulstealer solo after reading up on the Soulstripper spawn. I was a lvl 55 Cleric at the time, and quickly got beat up. Luckily I managed to gate on low health. I returned with a friend (lvl 54 beast) and took the soulstealer down after a toughish fight. I often return now as a lvl 65 Cleric to solo the guy, either to get the mace for a friend or to sell.
The placement and spawn time of the soulstealer have been listed correctly, so I won't repeat. It does seem that Chester has no bearing on wether the Soulstealer will spawn btw. I have had similar spawn patterns with him up or not. As was mentioned in another post, this camp can be held by only killing the PH and a single roamer. As I usually come here with self buffs only I tend to stick to just these two to preserve mana. If you plan on going afk between spawns, just kill the PH and roamer straight after each other. It is possible to get Chester to spawn in place of the roamer though, which is useful if you plan on being afk between spawns.
The actual fight is usually very easy. I root, cast Mark of the Righteous, and break root with Condemnation (1100dd). Then it's a case of meleeing until he flees on 20% health. I usually root here to avoid adds, and take him down with further nukes.
As far as the loot goes, he will always drop either the Soulstripper or the cape. I have had the Soulstripper about 80% of the time.
Thanks a lot. I have been back a few more times and you are correct the spawn has nothing to do with Chester, as I have had the Soulstealer pop without Chester up. Killing the wanderer and getting Chester to spawn in his place does make this camp a lot easier.
I parsed the battle with my 64 druid, and the PH for this guy has 6800-7khp, so either bring friends, have firepower, or be a well-equipped melee before doing this camp. Granted you will have lots of time for recovery with an 18min spawn time, but still...you gotta live through the fight, right?

I went into tunnel last night with my 52 SK to do a camp check and see if he was up- he was. Shouted to my group to get in here and hurry. The place is ALWAYS camped. We all went in semi buffed and got our ***** handed to us. The 2 adds are what did it to us. In all a 44 Pally, 48 Cleric and myself died. The only survivor, the 50 Shammy. Oh well next time we will have pets with us and be fully buffed as well as clearing the roaming mobs.
dropped this guy last night on torv. me (53 shm), 60Bl, and a 55druid were total overkill. Up to the soulstealer spawning we were talking about me soloing the camp and i felt bad for dragging them to help me. The soulstealer spawned after one ph holding the wep and about killed our druid in 5 seconds. Me and the Bl were fighting down the hall a bit for fun when we hear him mumble his little "im about to attack" phrase. We kill him of course with no problems but after the fight i really dont think i could have soloed him. we all were slowed and dotd and at half health when he died. When people say dont underestimate him they mean it so be careful with this guy.
Just killed this guy, dropped the Soulstripper. Group of 4 took him out no problem. 54 Warr, 46 Druid, 48 Shamen, 50 Shamen. Shammy slowed and debuffed, warr took pretty much all the hits, others healing and dotting. He nukes, mezzes, dots and hits for about 120 on average.
Killed PH about 6 times before he spawned, then killed 2 more PH. Pop every 18 min. Going to camp again tomorrow.
Ive been in these caves many many times, just to mess around and to grab diamonds and aa xp with my lower level friends. If you look at the caves on the right hand side I believe theres a covy thats directly to the right of the brige as shown here. http://www.eqmaps.com/m3/dulak1.gif Is that where this guy spawns? Or is it the one further up and on the right?
Sadly, the Stealer, was nerfed, *mourn* he does not spawn nearly as good, me and a friend used to farm about 4 a day, now we get about 1 every long day...
That's how random spawns work. You can get 100 ph's in a row or you can get the named over and over. I got him twice in a row last week, so I doubt he's been nerfed.
Today is Feb 28, 2006 so much time has passed since many of these posts.
Ill add my experiences.
Ive camped this guy on 3 different occaisons.
The first time I camped him I only had to kill 2 or 3 phs to get him to spawn.
The second time I camped him all day, about 8 hours, and not once did the enraged soulsstealer ever appear. I would kill the servant of hate and then log for anywhere from 15 mins to 40 mins for about 8 hours and nada.
Im camping it agian now for the 3rd occaison and so far Ive killed about 7 phs and no spawn.
Its not a room but a hall he spawns in, you can kill as little as 1 wanderer and the ph/enraged. I do this often with my 58 mage and never have died or had to zone.
If you kill the wanderer the quest mob will spawn in his spot and he is non agressive so you wont get any adds/aggro's if ya carefull. Btw the ghost quest mob aint drop anything so dont worry about killing him=P
Solo the whole zone? I don't think so. Try to get anywhere near the windscorn and you'll have half the boat on you. Some of those shipmates are level 55.
You underestimate the power of mages =). I tear through Dulak's all the time doing various bits of farming, etc, using my magician and have never had any problems.
dunno about a lvl 51 druid, but my lvl 61 shaman can solo this place if i have enough time;) Im not the fastist killer but i dont die or have downtime=P /hug torpor
52 shaman fully buffed + KEI and fungi, resists MR, CR, FR +130 and DR and PR mid 80s with buffed pet. It wouldve been a close fight but my slow wore off. I took him down to less than 30% before dying. Found him just where the posts below said he would be.
After CR a 57 mage came with me and we took him down no problem.
Killed him for the 5th time today. He has had mace every time. He is static and random. Very very rare, but he tends to spawn in spurts. So i camp him all day and then he pops 2 times in a row. Has happened twice now. So if you get him hang around and wait for next, Mace is lore.
Mace has also dropped on every spawn
Reason why I am writing. Today he dropped luggald saliva. no drop magic item usable by shd and necros. Any ideas? not lore. has no stats or effects
I've camped the spot for about 6 hours now, and have yet to get him to spawn. During the entire time I held the camp, Chester was up in place of the pather, so I left him alone in case any pally needed him for the quest. Is it possible that the Enraged didn't spawn because of this? I know his PH is the servant of hate between the bridge and stairs, and from the posts I've read he doesn't seem to be that rare. Seems that after at least a dozen ph kills I should have seen this guy. Is this just bad luck or does the pather need to die as well?
This whole area is fairly easy to keep clear and manage respawns, and the loot can range from quest items (luggald flesh, torn luggald robes, luggald organs) to gems of varying types (I've gotten diamonds, star rubies, peridots, etc), so at least my time camping him paid off in that respect. I killed a static every 4 or 5 minutes just to keep myself from getting too bored. The surrounding mobs are lb and green to me at 61, but underestimate them and get sloppy and you'll probably wind up dead. Haven't gotten the chance to tangle with the enraged solo, so I have no comment on that.
Camped him last night, and also left Chester up for the paladins. We killed the PH 3 times, and then low and behold, the Enraged Soulstealer was standing there with a pretty little posh mace in his hands.
We musta lucked out. It's a great camp. I wonder how much this weapon sells for out there?
After 4 more ph's, he popped at 9:30 am today. Much to my surprise he had the Soulstripper in hand. After a furious, but short, battle, it was mine. He hit me with Ignite Blood, but was unsuccesful with root and darkness (I buffed mr before his respawn). He was dark blue to me at 61. One more important note, he began casting on me when I was just barely a few feet past the top of the stairs, so he has a much larger aggro range than the other mobs in this area.
