I ventured though the FW Tunnel to get to over into the city in an effort to save time. I came across these little buggers in the pool and decided to avoid them until I did a little research. Ironically, as I was reading the posts below after they they swam/disappeared from the pool (I was thinking I was safe), and boom! around the corridor they walked and killed me. I only had time to see the slain message before I was returned to my PoK soul bind spot. Geez! Point is, they WALK as well - just not swimmers. I'm a 15 lvl Ranger, but of course, I wasn't paying attention either.
Came to the edge of the pool in FW tunnels, saw a few corpses and some flailing citizens. Didn't look like much to worry about (Excuse me! player corpses in there!!!). Anyway, I thought it looked like fun and maybe some free loot in there so I jumped in. (Yes, I said 'Jump', I mean completely by voluntary action!)I was lvl 11 Enchanter when I first met the drowned citizens, now I am level 10 Enchanter after many failed attempts to retrieve my corpse and stay alive. my corpse will decay forever in 2 days time and it looks like I'm gonna lose my lovely set of Art Keepers magic clothes! I hate these guys
here is my advice...stay in WFP until you get to level 5. then venture elsewhere. once you hit lev 15-20, get a group together and go hunt the drowned citizens. these drop some nice items that either you can sell, or one of your buddies could use...just follow the left wall until you reach the PoK book inside the secret entrance. from here, keep following the path until you reach the pool with the drowned citizens...(You probably shouldn't try this solo) <(^_^)>
These guys hit you with disease proc. Nasty when you're only level 13 rogue...I got cocky from the ease of hide+sneak past these guys. I ran freely and they jumped me - they're the equivalent of zombies and they aren't drowning coz they can swim around to the walk way ;-)
I had a 9th level SK Gnome. I got hit by one of these on the way out. I guess someone had fallen in and tried to run. I stumbled across his corpse and boom got hit. I ran out of the tunnels and thne noticed I was almost dead. I Guild called my buddy in WC and asked him to run over to get rid of disease for me. He took about 5 minutes to zone in. Meanwhile I was working on my bandage skill like a doctor in an emergency ward. I ran out of bandages and was resorting to using Lifetaps to keep health up. When my friend got to me he had to cast Counteract Disease twice on me.
I worked out the damage and it was 12 from the hit and 586 from the Disease DOT. OWWWIEEE. Can we say newbie killer.
Here's some advice, If your a NEWBIE starting off, and your wandering around West Freeport, I advise you NOT to follow the walls outside. There are 2 secret entrances.
1) Along the RIGHT side of the walls, lies the first secret entrance. You will see a Dark Elf named Toxidil, at the entrance of these "sewers", anyways, he wasn't KOS to me, but you should consider him before you approach him. Further down, lies a necromancer named Diana Proxbourne. Diana's about lvl 20 and she was KOS to me. Probably KOS to everyone. She's pretty strong... Killed me fast.
2) To the LEFT of the walls in West Freeport, lies a tunnel. BE CAREFUL, Don't go running in there with some friends because you will end up falling in a pool with Drowned Citizens, they are bout lvl 12-13 and they are numerous. They are also KOS to everyone (Depending on diety).
So keep this in mind and don't end up doing the mistakes I did with my lvl 4 monk.. I died in both of these situations.
lol my mage got lost in these tunnels... she is kos so had invis on till on conned these guys... scared the crap outta me didnt realize they were alive luckily she is 37 and was ok
I am a level 43 druid and was helping a guildmate with the Paladin quest. The one where you kill guard Jacsen. Well it got crazy and I cast a strength spell on guildie and didn't zone fast enough to not get bad faction. Now wherever I go in commons, Freeport etc, the guards give me that threatingly look. I need to get faction back and killing orcs will probably take too much time. The DF belts I don't think will work either. I cast wolf form on myself and after conning the guards, it still said that "Threatingly" con. What can I do?
Well, for one thing, i do with MY druid/brd/cleric/anything that has AE DD spells. (i really dont do this for faction, just fun) Go into Qeynos, Freeport, Crushbone, whatever, and train as many LOWLEVEL orcs, goblins, gnolls, anything that will give you good afction with Freeport as you can, and then, when you have enough, just cast an AE. Simple... oh, and i really wouldnt try this is Blackburrow, cause i did it with my druid, and had so many on me i got scared. (dunno why, either) i eventually got lost, and died.. but hy, he WAS only 25....

I found out about these guys the hard way - my rogue character fell in the cistern with these guys at level 6! Needless to say, she didn't last long. I was worried about corpse recovery until I guessed that "hide" and "sneak" might work underwater - ten minutes later I had everything back, because they sure do.
I am druid and i dont know if entring the tunnels the necro guilds and others will try to kill me.Are the drowned citizen at W Freeport or in E Freeport because i see em on my track all the time but never get them.Ahh there are 3 tipes of drowned citizen ,should i try with one kind of em or try just one?
Those who worship "good" gods will be KOS to the dark elf Innoruuk-worshipper NPCs who are occasionally found in the sewers. If you're agnostic I don't think you're KOS to anybody down there, regardless of race.
My level 9 cleric was practicing divination with the sense undead spell at the West FP gate when he spun around to face the militia house. A YELLOW (level 10) citizen was sensed east-by-southeast from the gate. I hope this helps to generalize their location as well as verify that at least some of the citizens are level 10 MOBs. It also shows that they are characterized as Undead.
Geez i think these things don't belong here. I mean a mob that Guards will not kill, is KOS, and is high enough to slaugher newbies..... that just isn't right! Make them Non KOS, have guards attack them, or at least lower their lvl. I am rather distressed to think that some players are pulling them all, then FD near guards so as to get every newbie killed, as i see some do from a prior post. Yes i know they loot something needed for a halfway decent Clr Dru foot item (which, btw i plan to GET for my lowbie druid hehe), but their newbie killing abilities are wayyyy wrong. If verant moniters these msg boards (do they??) plz see if u can't change these mobs.
The only way to get to them that I know of is to use the secret tunnels underneath East Freeport. You run past the rogues and necros and Shadow Knight trainers and there is a zone into West Freeport. After a little ways there is a hole that takes you into the sewers. Be careful when the paths split to go right or you will jump off a cliff into a large pool with three of them. They were all green to my level 15 friend. I was 27 when hunting them for the Acolyte quest. There is a way into there from the West Freeport entrance to the sewers, but you have to jump off a cliff there too.

Check out the maps of Freeport at www.eqatlas.com They spawn in 2 different areas; the north tunnel pool, and the south tunnel pool. Just face toward the city, outside the gates, and follow the wall to the north or south (your choice). Eventually, you will fall through the wall into a tunnel. Follow that tunnel down until you reach the pool, and there you go.
Got my piece of flesh from the drowned citizens tonight. It droped on the third spawn of the 4 drowned citizens. Got all 3 types now ). By the way I hit a timer when I droped the first one and found out the spawn time is 13 min.

(I know, its an evil thing to do, but people did it to me when I first began, so now it is time for a lil fun of my own, muhahahaha!!!)

Once you are dead, I will kill them all off. I hope I catch you doing this... you will pay!
