Halflings start out indifferent to him. You need to do the 'Muffins for Pandos' quest to get faction. Just hand him 4 stacks of muffins at a time. You can buy muffins from a bunch of vendors in West Freeport
This Telin is some rent boy from a 1980's gay **** movie... even at amiable con he still won't give the epic start without feeding his dwarf pimp in Freeport "*****" filled mufins.
The NPC respawns after about 20 mins for your information, in case any holier-than-thou / might-makes-right multiboxing jerk ruins your fun.
I'm playing on the progression server Lockjaw. I went to Burning Woods to turn in a quest item to this NPC for the druid epic and right as I arrived so did an officer in the guild Bad Dragons named Hermionegranger with his army of mages and he proceeded to kill the mob right in front of me. When I asked the simple question 'Why?' he responded with 'dude attacked me', this epic NPC is in the corner of the zone, hidden amongst the trees... a path no one with a mage army would take unless they were simply being a jerk just to be a jerk, I imagine he saw on his cheater tracking a yellow con named mob and was ignorant of who it was so killed it for no reason than to see if it dropped any loot.
Edit: removed comment of a "direct to another player" nature. Note that your recount of events was left as-is.
apparently my druid was not welcomed into conversation with Telin.
had to port to Freeport and give a dwarf a whole lot of muffins. uggg muffins
gave him over 2,000 (MANY STACKS at a time), ported back to Telin and FINALLY that wood elf spoke to me.
got the note
(no i understand that i did not have to give the dwarf that many stacks of muffins. but i figured i needed all the help i could get seeing as how Telin was ready to attack me cause i was very indifferent. anyway.....it didnt take that much time. and it was worth it since i am now an ally)
Went to talk to Telin as a 46 Half-elf Ranger. He conned as indifferent to me and would not initiate the 1.0 epic quest. I found out about the muffin quest, did that until Pandos conned ally to me. I ran all the way back to Telin only to have him con indifferent, still. Being as it was late and I was fed up with muffins (no pun intended) I decided to log out right there and try more muffins tomorrow. Today when I logged in I hailed Telin for funzies, and he responded with "Hello, wanderer."! Conned him, and he was ally.
If you have stuffed Pandos full of muffins until the dwarf is an Ally and Telin still cons indifferent, I suggest logging out and back in to the game. Saved me a bunch of money and time.
Took me 25 stacks of muffins to get to kindly faction on my 49 drakkin druid (appr, indif, amiably, kindly) with the muffin dude. Don't know why but yeah my faction was 1st apprehensively & then indifferent with him...
As stated below, and just to confirm, Telin responded to "What action?" to a Halfling Druid when I was no less than Kindly with him. I started apprehensive and worked my way up to Kindly. He would not respond at Amiably.
I'm a little confused. I did the quest on my halfling druid and never had to do the Muffin Quest. Could there be other ways I could have raised my faction with him when I was younger?? I did spend most the mid-20s to mid-30s killing knolls in South Karana.
Halfling druid - started out with amiable faction to Telin. Turned in a bunch of muffins (inventory full as much as I could and I had tailoring stuff on me too). Got up to warmly. Gated back to Telin (so glad you can bind inside Burning Woods) and said "what action" and got my note. Guess my cabbage smells pretty darn good ;)
This is definitly faction related. I am 53 ranger and I first con'd dubious (not sure why). So I followed the below posts and started muffin running. Turned in 640 muffins and now I'm indiferent. At first he told me my breath stunk and now he won't answer me at all. Will keep turning in muffins and will post again with results.
This is correct - turn in Dark metal coin to Telin Darkforest and receive the Worn Metal coin. Next step is turning in Worn Metal coin to Athele in Eask Karana. Be aware - this involves a number of turn ins to different NPC's in EK. Then, a Dark elf corruptor and Dark Elf reavers spawn. Read more about this portion of quest at
Found him west of the zone path to Sky Fire about a minutes run once u get around the corner. He's the only ranger epic 'turn in' character that isn't running all over the zone. If you need to find him for the quest just head to the skyfire zone and hit track. He should be on the list and pretty close to the zone.

WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS SO IF YOUR KoS BE CAREFUL FOLLOWING THE WALL LINE AND ALWAYS STAY INVIS EVEN IF YOU CAN OWN ANY MOB IN THE ZONE HIM AND HIS 2 BUBBIES WILL KILL YA QUICK
A few nights ago we were staring to group up at the SF/BW ZL when from nowhere our DE cleric comes running by cause this guy aggroed her. The cleric didnt make it. Then I stuck a root on him and about 4 of us started whoppin a$$. This guy doubles for 180ish,doesnt cast, summons, and killing him drives 5 ( yes 5 ) factions into the toilet, but it was worth it.
My list of NPC's that deserve death got one shorter now.

Posted:Sep 04 2003 at 5:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You idiot, why the hell did you kill an epic NPC?! Most of all the started NPC of 2 epics. You're such a ******!
When a mob attacks me (as this idiot did tonight) while I'm walking around minding my own business, I for one am going to fight back, rather than wonder 'hey, maybe this is for some epic I know nothing about and I shouldn't kill it' while it's trying to kill me. If SoE don't want mobs killed, then they should make them non-KoS to all.
Ok i know why there are less halfling druids then there should be. I just turned in 700 muffins 4 at a time and let me tell you its not fun. So if you are a halfling do the muffins b4 you go there the first time so you dong have to go all the way back. Ohhhh ya and he is located near the SF zone line just head towards it then track for him hes in the trees hiding.
After experiencing the same lvl 45 problem, I came back today after hitting 46. He wouldn't talk to me, but when I said "what action," he gave me the note anyways. Problem is, there are TWO count em TWO Faelin's running around him in a circle. I tried giving each of them the note, and both refused it. I went back to Greater Faydark, and found another druid there who had noticed the same thing and had been waiting in GF for over an hour with no luck. All the posts regarding her mention a PH. But there wasn't a PH either. Returning to BW, I see that the Faelin's are still here, and 3 hours later there is still no response to my petition. The other druid logged, but I'm concerned that after all this time it is broken! Buggers to hell!
P.S. How dumb I am! I spelled "Telin" wrong in the subject, but I don't know how to change it! :P
Newly popped 51Ranger.....new POTENT guild.....geared down as good as I can be without farming til the next expansion, aaaaaand I did see something new - Telin broke into sparring with his 2 lil concubines and said I had inspired it. I waited.....I was advised after the sparring session that I ain't startin my Epic yet. Thank aaaaaaaal of you who posted faction info.....I'm goin muffin shopping to be higher than indifferent next time.....Peace and Love.....
ok guys/gals.. here's the deal. If you are a ranger, you do have to be level 46, and you do need faction. Druids are the same... 46 and you have to have good faction... Diety does not matter.
After making one trip here and finding my faction to low for him to even talk to me I read a lot of the posting's here and set out to do the muffin quest in Freeport to up my faction. Many state that you need to feed Pandos 400-500 muffin's and Chalidhar (19th Druid of Tunare) even stated in January 2002 his faction with Pandos was only "kindly" before he started. Not wanting to take any chances, and make any more trips to the Burning Woods then I absolutely have too, I pumped Pandos full of those darn muffins.
Starting with a con of Amiable I feed him 100....still Amiable, 200.....still Amiable, 300......still Amiable, 400......ok now Kindly, 500........still Kindly, 600........woohoo now Warmly, 700......still warmly, 800......still warmly, 900........still warmly, 1000....Yea now I'm and Ally! Then gave him the last of the muffins I had on me totaling 1120 muffins all in all and a cost of about 7pp for the 56 stack's of muffin's. Not a bad price to pay to get this thing started!? Pandos hasn’t grown at all, by the way!
Now I know Telin Darkforest will talk to me, surly he will!? I dump everything I can into the bank to make myself as light as possible. The first trip I made my camo dropped and I had to out run a Mountain Giant, without creating a train. I did outrun him and managed to recast my camo and stay in the zone, never saw that Mountain Giant again. With one hit of 210 damage I didn't want to see him again. Ok so I made it back with out incident and I was right... he did talk to me. Now he says, and I took a screen shot of this by the way "Telin Darkforest looks at you consideringly and then turns away." "Aye, action must be taken but I could not allow you to undertake such a task. Meaning no disrespect but to work against such evil is no task for one of your experience. Set off for easier adventures." Ohhhhh....come on!!!
Sooooo...... as a level 32 Karana based Ranger, Half Elf with over 1K Hit Point's(Not that I think that would influence him) he still won't let me start the quest. Ok... so this is not faction based, as far as I can see. Is the change in this quest deity based, Karana verses Tunare? Is it class based, Ranger verses Druid? Or is it now truly level based like most people tend to think? Well considering like around the 4th step in the first section of this quest requires you to kill a level 50 mob "Darkelf Reaver" I tend to think it is now level based weather it was before or not.
On second thought this quest IS faction based but it IS also level based. You must have good faction to get him to talk to you and you must be a minimum level, maybe 46 as read below, before you will get the note!?
Hope to see some other deity based/class' post there CURENT experience with this quest. Good luck and happy hunting!!!
It is lvl based, the only epic u can do b4 51(correct me if I'm wrong) is BST epic i believe. Some say druid/rng epic can start at 46, but idk, but i do kno a friend who i helped get his BST epic at lvl 40, so idk, pls correct me if I'm wrong about epics b4 51 :)
Sorry but you are incorrect I have seen Rogues, Shaman, and BST's who had their epics before they hit lvl 47, and have seen a Rogue and shaman who both had their epics before they were even lvl 45. Myself playing a shaman I had 90% of my epic done before I hit lvl 35(and I did it solo without being twinked as this is my main), and if I would have found someone to multi-quest the Tear for me I would have had my epic before I turned 46 also. I know of alot of rogues who are able to get their epics before lvl 46 and if I am not mistaken there is even a walkthrough for rogues to get their epics before 46.
Just my 2cp Cebkorle Bloodscale Iksar Shaman of the 65th Spirit Maelin Starpyre
I tried to do this quest prior to level 46. Wouldn't even speak to me and i conned indifferent. I came back at 46 not only got the dialogue but but got the note my faction was amiable by that time. Oh and this part of the quest is faction based! A ranger in my guild that also follows karana tried to get the quest at 51 and telin wouldn't talk to him until he raised it to amiable. Just because you have max ally faction with means exactly that, so of course you won't have any problems duh. As for the final turn in even if i could finish prior to level 51 i wouldn't take the chance of losing everything. It won't kill you to wait that long especially considering how long it will take to get the foraged items again for starters. Oh and for the shaman posting about factions you can get your epic by factioning we have to work for ours. Another things different epics have different level requirements. Kargin redblade spoke to my level 30 warrior unless they have changed it, a warrior can start it at that level. And nobody says you can't gather the items you need or even have to do your epic in order for that matter.
