Can verify with you that he does indeed con dark blue to a level 80. Possibly the level of the named ranges from 78 through 80. I was not able to find any white-con named in Frostcrypt after a server reset.
Icecrack is any easy kill. He wanders that ramp, on the east side of the large center room. See the mapfiend.net map. He stops just inside the rooms at each end and also pauses at spots on the ramp. I haven't tried to confirm an exact pattern to his meanderings. I suspect there's some randomness, i.e. every time he pauses a random decision is made as to which direction he will continue.
The problem with fighting Icecrack is there is one trash mob which also wanders this ramp. If your group can off-tank one FC piece of trash, then you're all set since Icecrack isn't much tougher. If you'd rather NOT have to cope with an add during the fight, here's what to do:
What I do is as follows. I run three toons, properly buffed with IVU, to the south room. I run one toon to the other end. I watch for Icecrack since he seens through all forms of IVU. (He also can't be snared or rooted.) Once Icecrack is temporarily paused in the bottom room, I run my 3-some into the ramp and lay down a campfire right before the ramp starts to drop. You don't want to be too close to the sliding door since mobs WILL aggro through the door. Ideally, I wait till the trash wanderer is also out of aggro range but in a pinch I just set down the campfire and take my lumps. Then the 3-some evacs.
Then I run back with my druid to the lower-side room. Either I have another groupmember watch for Icecrack to appear at the other end, or I watch for track's direction indicator. When Icecrack is "upstairs" I move into the ramp and ensnare the trash wanderer. The goal is to immobilize at the bottom of the ramp. So I wait till he follows me down and then evac or get CoH'd. Note that some of these trash mobs can and will disspell ensnare. So you want to run back and double-check that he's still where you left him. They won't disspell once out of combat so if he hasn't done it by then he won't afterwards.
Then it all comes down to timing your fight. Since campfire clicks have no delay and there is no zoning involved, you can bring in your group "blind" and be prepared to engage Icecrack upon landing. (Make sure everyone clicks simultaneously and make extra sure nobody's invis'd! You don't want the cleric appearing 3 seconds before the tank!) Or you can send a scout and watch his movements before clicking to the campfire. Like I said, Icecrack isn't that tough so if your group can handle zone trash and you've disposed of the trash wanderer, you should be fine. Max hit I've seen on a caster is 2498. Far less on a tank...
As mentioned below, the biggest problem with Icecrack is the rarity of that nice warrior ring. He'd actually be a lot harder kill if he spawned as an ordinary static in any of the crowded rooms...
Killed him 10 times, and 10 Times the augment dropped. Have not seen the warrior ring yet. So my experience the last month has been different from puntsize.
Been my experience too so far, 5 kills 5 augments. Ironically I just talked to someone else who pharmed him a bit and he says all he saw in several kills was the ring, no augments. Maybe there's some kind of fixed pattern where he drops one or the other several times in a row before switching...
Class specific items are normally the rare drop... but lately I noticed camping some mobs in FG and even AG, that the certain class specific mobs.... mainly icecrack, are dropping the warrior ring 9/10 times. I'm just assuming 9/10, I've killed him 7 times so far, and I've gotten 7 rings. Starting to wonder when the aug will drop, and how many will drop in a row once it does.
I've camped him before, and it was the other way around.
Aye, seems to be right at 70 mins, trash is at 28 mins. We pwned this ramp for hours, pulling mobs from upper area by monk.
Strat was to send monk in and he would fd at bottom of ramp. When Ice was at top of ramp and add was at bottom, we ran in and pulled add to middle of ramp. Ice did not aggro from top and seems to have very small aggro area. We killed add and then engaged Ice. After that, timing is seperate so was easy camp. Ice and other mobs hit for 2500 lots and most over 1k. Ice actually seemed easier although he is not undead. We had 2 groups with mix of clerics, wars, pallies, rangers, mages, druids, (all lvl 75 and anguish geared or below) and we just had a blast there for one evening. We had augs and ring drop from Ice, and marks and a rkII druid spell drop from trash. Would have been a great camp for 1 group, but we had to many who wanted to go so we mini-raided it.
He also drops a very nice warrior only ring that is not on Lucy yet (sorry, forgot name), and dropped a Large Softly Glowing Powersource, so presumably drops all 4 types.
Warrior ring to the best of my memory was 38AC, 295HP, 2% shielding, 100 total resists, and stats.
