The skeleton/mummy placeholders cycle pretty quickly but I have to go through numerous cycles to get the ghoul boss. I fought him at level 35 with a Faydark Champion's LS, SS of Morin, and Trueshot armor. He was a about as difficult as the Shadowman leader. The Shadowmen cleric placeholders were actually more difficult than both of these quest mobs.
Met this guy the other day on Druzzil Ro server while camping the necro. He spawns on top of the hill in front of the steps, dunno spawn time but I'm guessing the skellys and mummys that spawn on the hill are his PHs. Anyway, saw him, conned yellow to me (31 druid) medded to full, and basically ensnared/dotted him to death. Will admit he did break root many many times and very quickly I might add, so eventually I stopped rooting to save mana. All in all he wasn't incredibly tough, though he was pretty fast even ensnared and hit pretty hard so keep your distance and kite him if you can. Noticed that if you get a certain distance away from him(not that far, was still in sight of him) he kinda just wanders off and leaves you alone, oh well lets you sit and med. =) But once you get back in his range he comes a runnin'.

All I know is it sounds like a creature that my bro's level 36 can shove his foot through it's a$$, but hey I could be wrong. Secondly If it's called A GHOUL Boss it should look like a ghoul, but it doesn't it looks like a skeleton. And how much sense does that make?

It sounds like to me like all of your servers are 99 percent druids. Also at lvl 40 he goes down easy dont try to say other wise he CAN be soloed even without all that druid cowardice oh i mean kiting
"sounds like to me like all of your servers are 99 percent druids"
or maybe that druids are more likely to encounter the ghoul boss because he spawns at a location Tunare druids camp for quest.
also, it's been my experience that few people spend a lot of time in Lfay. i've spent the last several days camping different mobs in the zone and the only times i saw more than a few people in the zone were when a group was running to/from MM. of the ones who stayed in the zone for any length of time, it seemed that 4 of 5 people were druids.

Met him today while camping the necro. Aggroed on me immediately and chased me all over the zone until I finally managed to gate away. Went back and he was back to the shrine. Medded until full mana and tried to kite him with root and drones of doom. He resisted all the nukes (I´m lvl 36 druid with wis 199) but DoD did some damage. Almost had him down when some other mob finished him. Conned blue to me but that´s quite underconned.
Yes, conned yellow to my 31 druid. First root stuck, Crud and Swarm worked, Immolate was stuck once then resisted 3 times. Combust hit once or twice, but was also resisted once or twice. It does have a very small aggro range and will break off pursuit if you get far enough away. Melee'd abit in the middle, hit for between 40 and 70 pts. To finish him, I just waited until the dots had it to less than 20% hp and whacked it with my hammer. Don't remember any coin loot but did get the log book.
sounds like you were just unlucky. he conned even at 32 and i soloed him with my druid with little trouble. used nearly all of my mana and he got me down to about 40% health, but still no worse than any other even con.
I was camping that necro for the second part of the tunare neclace quests while looking for ghasts on track. Was there for about 7 hours before he finally spawned. Saw about 3 ghoul bosses during that time. One spawned on tree level with obelisk that is far away, one spawned at top step of obelisk, and one spawned at tree at top of hill. I am level 21 and tried killing one before I checked what level he was (conned red, but so do tolus and reskin and they are easy) somehow my sow went away when he attacked me after it was pretty fresh. I outran it though without sow somehow and zoned into mm. Came back, paid someone to kill it (this is the one at top of obelisk... it and one at far tree were up at the same time). Level 40 cleric, did it easily. A little later i was checking track, and saw a ghoul boss on track. I med at the top of the hill near one of the spawns, and face the obelisk. It said it was right behind me, and thought it must just have spawned and that's why it wasn't attacking me. So i jumped up and ran forward afraid it would aggro on me. Conned it, didn't have camo on or anything, and it was indifferent. Attacked a skele near it to see if that made it mad. It did. So i dont think they have natural aggro unless you attack undead around them. Hit me for 71 max from what i saw.
I had gotten my Wardens Symbol of Tunare the day before and was helping a druid friend hunt ghasts when I came across him at the obelisk. Never conned him and am surprised to get exp & learn he is almost my level since I am 35. He went down pretty easy.
Anyone know if a Wood Elf Druid who worships Tunare can do this quest? And where the quest starts?
Sorry guess I should have read a little more before I asked about this quest. Looks Like the impaler is a no-drop item. I might try it for thrill of victory.
Just camped him today on Mithaniel Marr. Took 2 hours of killing every undead at the haunted shrine. I didn't kill any other undead in zone to make him spawn. At 2 hour point, he spawned by a tree on NE part of camp. I was playing a 52 Druid so had no problem with him. He dropped the codebook for my brother's ranger so I was quite thankful after killing greenies for that long. As a side note, Thistle Underbrush came on track 5 times for me but did not drop Braided Ivory Chords until I ran across him near the zone to GFAY.
im a 34 druid with 155 wis. got him today and he conned white to me. just kited him around lfay using snare, drones of doom, immolate and combust once or twice. He hits hard 76 pts but he was an easy kite. Got the log book and really dont know what its for but its a no drop so. if anyone knows what this book is for let me know please.
The Ghoul Boss is at the haunted oblisk (NE from the MM zone). He spawned on the top step for me. I though it was a regular skellie and went in for melee with my 35 druid and he pounded me down fast. I then tried to kite him and nuke but he resisted allot!! I was low on mana and had to gate. He is a rare spawn as I saw him one time so far in over 4 hours of camping the oblisk for a druid quest.
anyone know where/con of ghasts? i have never seen one and it's for the initiate symbol of tunare...kinda important me following tunare and everything ya know...=)
Look in the bestiary under "A Rancorous Ghast" (not sure on the spelling. :)
They seem to spawn all over the zone at night time and are level 13 - 18. I have only encountered one (when I was level 14), but I managed to take him down with the Expulse Undead/Root/Expulse Undead combo, then melee the rest of the way.
Was hunting here and he spawned so brouhgt in friends to kill it, it has about 1300-1400 hp, is about conned red to lvl 15, hits for about 70, and always drops a ghoul boss's log book, anyone know what its for?
Conned yellow to me at 33 and 32 ( some days ago..), so I think , its a safe bet he is NOT level 30. Avoided him because i was low on mana both times, and because of the yellow con.
Hail! I am a 41 Ranger on Druzzil and just took down the Ghoul Boss solo with no problem. I was using my Runic Carver. DoT and Careless Lightning did the trick for me.
I soloed both the ghoul boss and the shadowman leader at 39. I'd say the shadowman was a bit tougher, they both took me down to about 3 bubbles of health, but i could use Dismissed Summoned on the shadowman, which made a difference. Both were blue to me.
This guy is though, but conned blue to me at lvl 34. As a ranger it was a close battle, but I was able to solo him the second try, but barely, and that was with root, bow and ignite, intill i was oom, then thank Tunare for my Ebony blade, proced 3 times allowing me to kite him down a bit farther before i finished him. Now to find the Shadowman leader for his book! Would have been an easy battle with nuker, or someone to heal me just once or twice.
