Dyllin Starsine  

Hello Everyone

I have been poking around at the various component of the Bayle list quest and Came across this from Dyllin.


I got my faction to Corrupt Qeynos Guards on my 85 shadow knight to Kindly

I hailed Dylin and he responds: 'Hey! I don't have any spare change, Okay?!"

I then asked him about the Bayle list and he responded: "I don't have the slightest idea what your talking about. Now get lost before i get irritated. EXCUSE me. I mean MORE irritated!"

Hiya,

I was third in line for this guy, so I helped two others get him beforehand. Which means I saw and timed three spawns. Between the first and second spawn was 6 hours and 20 minutes and between the second and third spawn was 7 hours. I sent myself a message with the EQ mail system so I had a timestamp. The messages are about a minute or so lagged (had to type out the messages and all that).

The guy that was second line told me about a theory where the spawn timer counts down by five minutes until it hits six hours. The above disproves that. Looks like he spawns randomly between 6 to 8 hours of the last kill.

Lastly, he has about 600 hps.

just wanted to say thank you guys for all the great advice! been looking for this guy for a while but i couldn't find the hide out. i chose to bind myself to a safe location, rooted & dotted Dyllin then hid out of sight while i waited. i was expecting to see the tough smuggler and he didn't disappoint me! i just rooted him, backed up & waited for Dyllin to die. i had to root the smuggler a couple of times, but once Dyllin died, i just gated out. np thanks to you! !!!

how much hp i wanna know how long it would take me to whack him!

watch out when killing this guy, smugglers around him can reach very high lvls, my 32 cleric was just wiped out by one of them, most conned green, but there were a few reds, and one saw me attacking his friend and killed me within 5 seconds

Earlier today I went there with my 41 paladin thinkin ill see if hes there and if he is than ill kill him and run my cleric over. well it didint work that way, I slaughtered him in about 3 blows and some chick wiped me all over the floor

i am 31 and i just killed him today and i still got the page 30 so have fun and watch out for that red walking smuggler

This has been a great help. i studied the 45+ smugglers movements like someone suggested, got used to his pattern.

Waited around for about 15 mins and he popped. Bout 2 mins later the res smug left for the water. Just as he got round the corner i casted root, then snare, then creeping drud.

Cast 1 nuke (CL) and he broke root. Re-rooted him, Cast 2 more CL and he hit the deck. Looted his stuff and got outta there sharpish...

(On a side note, I dunno how long exactly it took me to kill him, but I would guess around 30 secs, (lvl27 druid), so I was able to get out before the 45+ smug was even back)

Thanks to everyone who posted information on this page -- it was very helpful.

It was a long camp for me (4 hours), and I did have a minor brush with potential camp stealers. They came running right when he popped (one was a 17 ranger, other a warrior. BTW, when exactly does a ranger use a ToV anyway? Surely he needs both hands for max damage right?). Of course the 55 smuggler was standing right there, and they wanted to take the mob 'cause I wasn't swinging yet. I explained why I was waiting and a little rudeness ensued (including a lot about how I didn't know how to play the game hehe), but in a few seconds both the 55 and the ranger/warrior moved on and I was able to take down Mr Starsine no problemo.

I know there are a lot of people in the game who do not respect the time folks put into long camps like this one, but every time they do I am very glad for the consideration of the hours I took out of RL to sit there. Even when the respect is paid with extreme reluctance as in this case.

Lol, time to mow the lawn now!

Hearing all these disturbing stories of how difficult the camp was and stuff... I just got the ToV tonight. This guy for a camp was not that hard. I stuck my 14 druid I had just started a couple days ago in the smuggler camp, logged the druid and came back on with main monk. Starhine wasn't up at the moment, so I sat down (w/o the afk mind you, just for you DIRTY CAMP STEALERS) where Dyllin spawns and went out for a couple hours. Low and behold when I got back, he is up - I kill him when the 50 smuggler leaves, log my druid, and loot the page. Now, the more difficult part for me was trying to raise faction with the erudites... then 2 hrs later, someone tells me that the erudite in Qey will sell it to me for 2gp :P Oh well, just my story.

If you'll note, at the top of this page his name is listed as Dyllin StarsHine, but in reality, as the accompanying screenshot clearly shows, his name is actually Dyllin Starsine. No "H" involved. Me and a few guildies got into an argument over what his name actually was last night and so I went to camp him to see if it hadn't been changed since the time I camped him and got a screenshot of him, since he's listed here as Starshine. Fortunately he popped in no more than 15 minutes, better than the 5 hours I had to wait for him the other two times, and it was still Starsine. Sure Starshine does sound better and makes more sense, but that's not his freakin' name, so gee, fix it on here already! :)

Yeah I was camping him with my lvl 25 druid to do the Testament of Vanear quest. It's easy to get to his little "nook" there and I just bound in there. Problem was everytime I gated back there he was either camped or not poped. so... one early sunday morning I logged on and was about to start playing my lvl 25 Bard when i decided to check on good only Dyllin. Well low and behold he was there. So I just rooted him and casted Pognip on him. Bad Idea. He risisted all 3 so then the root wore off. Lucklily I had snared him and then I just nuked him till he was dead. A helpful ranger whacked on him too so he wasnt that hard. Just watch the lvl 40+ smuggler don't argo on you. and BTW the Testamanet WELL worth the trouble. 10 wis that you can get for practicaly nothing is well worth my time. Now I need a new tunic. Anyone got any suggestions a lvl 27 druid could get post it.
