I saw it posted here that these were no longer classified as summoned creatures so I figured I would give it a try to verify. They definatly are not summoned creatures anymore and expel summons no longer works. needs to be updated.
Probably not, I would wait for level 39 and your new pet. Now that hornets are no longer considered summoned.Even at 39 will be hard to solo anything but the ash hornets.
Decided to give BW a try w/ a dru partner last night (I'm a mage), and much to our disappointment we weren't able to use the banish summoned line of spells, got a message about the hornets not being summoned creatures. Anyone aware of any changes lately?
Found this spot last night with a friend lvl 45 Enchanter.
We snared 4 hornets and then rounded them up and used my luminesent staff to quad kite these to death. Some of the hornets had way more HP's than others.
Within 1 hour both the 51st lvl druid and the 45th lvl Enchanter made 1 blue bub each shareing xp. I estimate we killed 28 hornets EZY XP
These hornets will agro you if you get to close to them with other hornets in snare (I think they call this Social Agro)
I can take 2 of these before I need to stop and med (44atm)
But if you get the choice of chosing 2 of these or a cinder hornet... go with these
I'm just about halfway through level 44, and the only xp I've made was on these yesterday evening (was on for 5 hours... but only fighting for about 3 of them... hehe, got lost a bunch and couldn't find my way back)
But tonight will be the night.. o yes, tonight will be the night...
I came to Burning Wood for the first time just the other night, the first thing I ran into was one of these guys. Asked my guild about them and found out they are infact Summoned. A little snare, and nuking away with Expel Summoned turns into really nice Exp for a 40th lvl druid. The Sarnak Champions and the Forest Giants although not summoned obviously are awesome exp for a lvl 40, just use snare, root, and DOT style...found me a new home here in the Burning Wood till at least 45 :)
These things carry "The hotwingz" faction, like the other hornets in burning wood. While I've never been able to raise hotwingz fashion by killing any mobs, i do know that if you switch to treeform, they are amiable to you. A good way for a druid to go AFK while hunting these guys at the hornets nest.
