Two boxed today with 72 mage with healer merc and 67 wiz with dps caster merc. Was a little concerned about keeping pet up until I got the first bug down. Had to help with the heals a lot during first bug then only about once for every three DPS casts during the second. Got a little touch and go at the end as my merc healer was running low on mana (wasn't managing it well). Dropped silk robe pattern, horn, glyph rune, and ring.

Decided to give this guy a shot with my boxed team: 65 Monk with 700+ AAs, 65 Shaman with 800+ AAs, 65 Ranger with around 30 AAs with Tank, DPS and Healer mercs.

First, I had the shaman throw some slows on Hrani, Iri and Kuanbyr. I killed Leistr (unslowable) first then Hrani. I then starting working on Kuanbyr and kept Iri slowed.

I was doing quite fine but by that point, my healer mercs was already running out of mana even though she was on "efficient" mode. I put her on passive a couple of times so she would stop wasting mana and regen a little bit while the shaman would keep the tank up. The merc healer is good at casting CH but will often panic when the tank gets below a certain level of HP and cancel the CH and cast HoTs and fast heals. I wish I could control that.

Anyways, it wasn't looking too good as I was running out of mana; Kuanbyr was at around 40%. I decided to camp the team out while the mercs kept the boss busy to try again. I know it's kind of cheap but I was able to come back, med, rebuff and finish Kuanbyr and Iri without any issues. The other bees didn't have time to repop. 2 Greater Stormwatcher Horn dropped. Offered to the zone but I'm guessing they rotted.

I'm thinking that maybe next time, I'll kill Leistr first and start working on the boss immediately. With the shaman, I'll pad the tank with heals to keep his HP high enough to prevent the healer merc from interrupting her own CH for faster heals.

Note that I kept Spirit of the Jaguar on all melees at all time which already costs a lot of mana but the DPS boost is simply amazing.

As with other tower bosses I've tried with this team, the issue seems to be lacking mana for heals, other than that, piece of cake.

Redeemed myself and finished this fight without camping. I was able to control the mana flow of the healer merc by juggling between passive and efficient modes. I had a little trouble with the ranger eating the rampages but all in all, dropped 2 Stormriders Signets, a runed glyphed word and the usual 10-slot container.
a long fight for a lowbie 2box

Decided to try this today 2boxing my 73 mage (431 aa) with air pet and T1 tank merc. 62 chanter (662 aa) had T1 healer merc.

Entered the tower and killed trash until I got to the boss room. Snuck my toons into the left corner of the boss room and pulled one of the bees to start. Oh em gee... this was a LONG fight. Chanter tashed and slowed mobs (always only "partially successful" with slows) and mage started nuking down the bees one by one. Tank almost ate it a few times, cleric was stuck constantly CH'ing it. Some observations from this fight:

Leistr: lowest HP when compared to the other named bees, immune to slow.
Hrani: medium HP, can be slowed.
Iri: high HP, can be slowed.
Kuanbyr: mountain of HP, can be slowed.

Kept out of Kuanbyr's enrage radius, he enrages constantly. Had to mage heal the air pet a few times since cleric merc didn't have any mana to. Fight ended with mage and cleric OOM, chanter was at 12% mana. Cleric managed to regen enough mana to CH the tank merc every minute or so to keep her up once it was only Kuanbyr up and all the bees dead. It was a great challenge, but nothing I'd want to do again.

Kuanbyr dropped everything that is on his loot table EXCEPT for the rogue and SK weapons.

hiya all,
85 bst here with a T5 cleric merc just soloed all 4 mobs at once.. pulled named and 3 bugs came with him. was about a 5 to 7min fight with all 4. but I never droped below 90% hps. and cleric never dropped below 98% mana :P pretty easy fight. named droped glyph rune and bugs didnt drop squat.. bst has 36khps and 3600ac.. if that helps. tower named are on a 6 hour timer.. so if ya need glyph runes for an alt this the place togo .. never anyone in there anymore and ya got 4 towers = 4 glyphs.. only thing that sux in there are the skaggs in south tower.. they have a nasty hailstorm dd.. 1200 dd seems like they cast it every few seconds.. has a stun component too.. if i didnt have my T5 merc healer if i had gotten 2 on a bad pull i prolly would of died.. 1 isnt too much of problem but 2 would be suicide..

We found that if you attempt to FD split these guys they will chain aggro. But if you pull them past the table room and down the steps leading to it (table room would be room before stairs leading to Hailstorms room) you can split without chain aggro. Doing it that way we were able to easily split the bees and kill them individually. On a seperate raid with different people, they did not pull far enough and could not FD split at all. Finally they just pulled everything at once and we wiped.

We took 5 people up to kill Kuanbyr tonight. We had a Cleric, a Warrior, a SK, a Ranger and my Shaman. While everyone else was on him, the SK offtanked 1 Bee, I had the others rooted away and was dropping 3 Poison DoTs on the giant. Eventually I got low on mana and had to use Spiritual Channeling, so I just started DoTing them all. We finally finished with no deaths, though the cleric was low mana and having to use Complete heals with me to fill in (luckily we were down to the last bee when Spiritual Channeling faded)

My guild did this tower a couple nights ago. It went very smooth. The MT pulled Kuanbyr Hailstorm while two other tanks were on Hrani and Leistr. Another chanter and I kept Iri mezzed while the others were killing the guards. after the 2 guards were down we killed Kuanbyr then Iri was killed last. I think we had 27 people in our raid.

Get a good bard and have him gate the bees out.

We tried the FD thing first does not work. Another str. is to kite them into a corner and root them. Do not do more than 3% dmg on them otherwise they will summon.

Just thought I'd throw my cp in here, and hopefully have someone back me up on this. Just participated in a failed Hailstorm engagement (bad raidforce, don't ask). Anyway, on to my point. I aggroed and Highsunned Leistr when the name was pulled. After Highsun landed, I jammed on Fading Memories. Leistr didn't move on me after that. There was another bard in Hail's room, and he was kiting a mob, so he got Leistr going again, just wanted to see if anyone can confirm that Highsun/FM does, in fact, prevent the bees from moving later on.

Actually Highsun does work but is very tuff to get to stick on the bugs, even when debuffed / tashed.

FD works really, really well on him. And there is a much safer way to break the room than OT'ing and mezzing. Just be patient and learn the strategy.

We used a slightly different strategy. We'd heard that you could charm the guards and have Hailstorm and the other guards kill them, one by one, until all the guards are gone, but that didn't work for us. So we mezzed one (there is one that's mezzable), offtanked one, and kited one around the room, while the main raid party took on Hailstorm in a corner. We took care of the guards afterwards. The whole thing worked fine.

Folks Our guild kiks his *** : )

Monk clears room

Tank agros him and pulls him into corner exposing his back only tank takes Area effect so there is only 1 target to heal allow the tank to call for attack so that he keeps agro and leaves the giant faceing the corner.

Easy

I resisted one of his AEs; it was called Hail Storm. Checked it out, it's a 400 dd and 0 second stun.

The second AE is the one to worry about; 1500 dd unresistable and 2 second stun.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 23 2003 at 7:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Took him down the other day with 1 cleric, 2 druids, and 2 shamans - as well as a handfull of paladins, rangers, etc as our only healers.

We only got an Ethereal parchment to drop from 1 bee. So not really.
He is slowable but after our first shaman got killed do to resists, we just decided to wing it and save mana for heals.

There are 3 lvl 65 named bees in his room. Will they help Hailstorm during the fight? How do you single-pull him? Where is the best place to finish him? Can he be magic/poison slowed?

Keyeluke is indeed correct. Monks can easily separate them; they just need to know what they're doing. Apparently you didn't have any good monks on your raid :(. Glad that 'multi tank' worked for you though.

strategies after the charm nerf?
# Jun 16 2003 at 5:02 AM Rating: Decent
Grrr, were having trouble with this tower, that 1500 point ae shreds our raid force quick =/, anyone have any strats they can share here? all of our rogues need an upgrade including myself this would be an ideal upgrade..Aside from the normal CHchain Ive heard people suggesting chain spell-shielding the MT to help with the ae damage and having all melee use ranged attack whil everyone else sends in pets and nukes, would like to hear from some people who have taken him down recently since the charm nerf IE (command of druzzil having a greater chance to break and be resisted) or is CoD charmed giants for sick dps still a viable option?
Thanks for any help will be very much appreciated :)

if you try to range this fight your tank will get torn apart and your clerics will run out of mana, im a level 65 sk with about 8.5k buffed and i tanked him for about 70% with about 40 people beating him and the ae was hitting me and no one else, ran the clerics oom when he was at 9% and i got killed, i doubt anyone that farms the bot towers for an upgrade will have a tank any better than me given some of the people i see in tier 1 and 2 guilds etc...just have druids on patch, clerics on chain, its an easy fight if you can keep all your people in line. =)

RE: strategies after the charm nerf?
# Aug 15 2003 at 2:39 AM Rating: Decent
As with the Jord Skygge's, this AoE is directional, and only hits those in front, so keeping him facing away from the bulk of the raid will work rather nicely to protect them; then a Wizard can chain-spellshield the MA if you are worried that the Clerics may have trouble with the spikey damage output.

This looks to clearly be a range fight. Chaining spellshield on the tanks would probably help a great deal.

Anyone know how hard this guy hits and if he's slowable?

The named giants listed as dropping an unadorned symbol of torden are tower bosses. There are four of them.

I can tell you that with a raid force of 30 people, the tower bosses are very difficult (although doable) without the power of Command of Druzzil capable enchanters. The DPS on charmed giants is insane.

The wing bosses drop a ring of torden which is used to make the tower keys. A druid/enc duo can take them down without a great deal of trouble if they are skilled and don't have really bad luck on charm breaking.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 21 2004 at 4:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I do all 4 towers on Firiona Vie twice a day with a group of 6 non ep people =p. 30 who needs 30 when 1 Warrior, 1 Shaman, 2 enchanters, 1 druid, and 1 cleric can single group all tower bosses all members in group are 65 =p
RE: He is a tower boss.

He said that it would be dificult for 30 people WITHOUT command of druzil capable chanters. Looks to me like your group of 6 people has 2 of those. He also stated that DPS on charmed giants is insane which is the only way I can imagine your group of 6 is taking out tower bosses.
