molo'd the whole thing from zone in to hammer in my bag, 65 ranger w/ tank merc. the map from mapfiend is seriously lacking in this zone, almost half the map missing. had to refer to online maps to find my way through the initial building. once you get past that, the mapfiend map is fine. keep tracking up to avoid reds. camo works in some spots and not others. so happy once you finally reach jaeil's tunnel =) most mobs were lt blue to me, i was tempted to stay =) gargoyles are hard to spot once in tunnel. make sure area is somewhat clear before turn-in. snared jaeil immediately once the fight began, got one add, nothing of consequence. jaeil himself is a pushover.
How are you guys doing this fight with the Bugs down there now? I asked a GM if they would provide help due to the change.. and got a no. So curious of a good solid strategy to kill and loot. I'm 75th ranger, 425aa's. I know I can solo him, just have to worry about the high level bugs now I believe.. Sort of odd for a 50 something quest mob encounter to morph into a 'potential' 80-85 encounter if you get agro of bugs.
I have the same problem im waiting on a petition now , If no luck with the petition then the new expansion comes out n 3 weeks so after then im told the zone will be back to normal i know that doesnt help much now but at least its a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel .
With any luck my guild will help me get to the named just a shame than i need him twice for my fiancees epic aswell lol .
I worked my way in solo (thanks gossamer for directions). I had a high level Mage there for pest (gargoyle and construct) control.
I soloed Jaeil the Insane and never got below 75% health. (No Steadfast Servant, had to use him on the way in when I got jumped by two, and he expired) Ran Thorncoat, SkinSpikes VI, and Shield of Thorns. Stacked my 4 dots, snared (thanks above poster for reminding about that), and flailed away with my swords. Dead erudite.
Treewynd Silversword Ranja of 62 seasons Who is now wondering how the heck to get to Sky 4.
Just soloed him with on my fully buffed, averagely equipped 55 ranga. Firstly, he conned even to me, making him 55 not 53. Secondly, though we was a fairly easy fight (I cleared the tunnel with my 71 warrior prior to attempting fight and needed 2 healing pots to survive), he does, indeed, summon.
I duoed this easily with a 63 cleric and 61 ranger, but I shot myself in the foot.
I forgot to snare JTI (or it was resisted), causing him to jump in the water then walk down the tunnel. I didn't think I'd need to clear that first gargoyle down the way... oops. From there, all hell broke loose. My cleric bit it, then after a few cycles of running to JTI/hitting him a few times/getting summoned, my ranger bit it with JTI at 3%.
Pissed at myself, and not wanting to go through the first part of my epic to get another bowl, I went back to the Hole to see if JTI was still up. Sure enough he was, and it turned out he was in the exact same spot where my ranger died. The second time was a breeze -- and I made damn sure I snared him this time. Easy fight, took maybe 90 seconds. Looted the hammer and gated out.
I wonder how long JTI stays up after a failed attempt? I reengaged him about 45 minutes after the first try.
I soloed this guy as a 73 ranger buffed to 9233 hp's. He doesn't summon and is rootable. I rooted, snared, and popped Trueshot and let a light blue gargoyle add pound on me while I shot him with the bow from a distance. He kept casting but never landed much and the melee's he hit me for were consistent but only between 55-70 (my ac is 1733). He only broke root twice (I nuked). They never got me below 65 percent (although I did use a healing pot). He only has about 18k in HP's so it didnt take but about a minute of shooting him before he dropped and I turned on the gargoyle add. The adds are a ***** down there. You have to clear carefully and you'll still end up with one or two. All of the adds summon and hit me for 120-280. Their repop timer must be about 10 minutes or less.
Those that agree with me .../grin...just killed this mob with a 51 shaman and 2 75 clerics.....he was green to them and dont care what lvl he is / was ....turned in my bowl ...spawned him and we owned him ...fight was bout 2.5 mins long....no sign he was undead....got my drop...then on to get the shamans drop...successfull there too.....just some really IMPORTANT FYI....as of the date of this post, Jaeil the wretched spawns where he shows located on my Mapfiend map, still burried beneath the city, overlooking a pool of water....did not show on track till we were nearly on top of him.....good luck!
First - new location, found him directly in the castle at the entrance (going in via the bridge). Had to clear about 10-12 level 40ish elementals to get to him. Once at his place also had Chanter and Shammy, but really could've done without (hit me once for 58 damage once slowed during whole fight - lol). I am a level 66 Ranja, had Conv on me and Master-DoN gear (not much other augs besides the slot 11). 6,7k HPish, 1,7k Attack. If you are close to that values you can solo him :).
Don't know how you found him up there... Found his trigger mob, Jaeil the Wretched, right where he always is. So unless Sony decided to go totally insane and have the Insane version spawn in a totally different place after you triggered him.... /shrugs
So as far as I can tell, Jaeil the Wretched/Insane is still down at the end of the winding cave west of the old city.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Lord knows I wanted him to be where you were saying.
Only thing I can figure is that maybe they moved him while the fabled mobs were up because he'd have been hell to get to? Then put him back after fabled's were done?? /shrugs again
Well I should of known better but i went behind him and tried to hand him the bowl and he did not take it and turned around and started to attack....so that meant no insane spawn. With that being said i obviously made a mistake. Do you have to sneak up behind him if he is dubious in order to get the Insane to spawn. Go to him in like 15 mins with a 70 mage's help. So i know it won't be a problem when i go back but I don't want to ***** it up next time.
This guy is cake, went in with a 54 wizard, 52 rogue, me a 51 ranja and a 70 monk, the monk plowed through the hole and then soloed jaelin with ease and i got my hammer :D
Killed him today he went down before 10 seconds and killed everything in sight getting to him. In group was: 65 Beast 65 Sham 70 Rang 52 Rang 55 Dru 63 Nec Should have cleared the rest of zone while we was at it :P
I am planning on going into there. And the few people I have talked to said when they have been in there they could not find him. He is the next step to me finishing epic 1.0.
Can anyone confirm the RL respawn time for Jaeil ? Missed him last night be 10 mins as a grp was right in front of us. I hear 6 hours RL- yes / no / maybe ?
This guy was a complete Joke, I solo'd him with my 65 necro, ranger looted hammer, and we were done that quick and easy. He is however deep in the hole and it takes quite a while to clear to him. Hope you have alot of patient's if you plan on doing him without alot of help
I'm a 65 enchanter with my AA's set up for deep penetration missions into places like The Hole. I solo all the way from the Paineel zone in all the way to 12 on EQ Atlas's map (well over half way to Jaeil). I'm sure a well-equiped ranger can make the trek with an enchanter but make sure you have lots of gate potions.
For the record, I have my AA's in Eldrich Rune (maxed), Channeling Focus (maxed), Enhanced Forgetfulness 2, and I have items which give me an extra 4% channeling. When I make this run, I have 280 Int, 280 Cha, but I also have 280 dex via Nights Dark Terror which is permanent because of Permanent Illusion AA skill. The mobs don't produce knockback when they hit so the strategy is don't let them interrupt you. Apart from self-buffs the only buffs I have are Virtue and Blessing of Reverence.
From the Paineel zone, invis up and hug the left hand wall all the way to the first pool shown on the EQ Atlas map just to the right of the letter 'E'. After this, it gets a little dicey. The section after the hallway is patrolled by Constructs which see through all invis and are highly magic resistant but are highly suseptable to mem blur. The tactic is to run just past a Construct, let it aggro, mem blur it, and then clear aggro before it comes to. Presto, you've gotten past a Construct. It takes practice to get it right, but once you have the knack, it becomes second nature very quickly. Make sure you've got this down before you go all the way in because you'll be doing a lot of it.
From the pool described above, you will have one Construct patrolling the hall before the mushroom-shaped room. Aggro/mem blur past him and hug the left hand wall of the mushroom shaped room. If you do that, there is a single Construct between you and the passageway on the far side. Aggro/mem blur past him and get to the passageway on the far side. IVU and blow past the undead sentry, down the ramp all the way to a small courtyard. Nothing will aggro on you at the bottom of the ramp so med up.
From here, you will need to go under the archway directly in front of you flanked by two undead, topped by a gargoyle who sees through all invis--but there's a trick: The gargoyle won't aggro on a level 65 even if you are directly under him. IVU past the two sentries, under the gargoyle, and take a sharp right hand turn once you're past the archway. There is a construct that patrols this courtyard. Aggro/mem blur him, clear aggro and then IVU again. Run for the archway indicated on the EQ Atlas map which is directly between F and G.
From here, the path to Jaeil, and what I've actually done part ways. I suspect that you can do something like what I've described all the way to Jaeil but I've never had reason to do so.
No one told me how to do this, I figured it out by trial and error, which is a round about way of saying that the zone is extremely forgiving. If something goes terribly wrong (and it will), don't hesitate to gate out. The mobs have little knockback so chances are you will have no trouble getting off the spell. If you get two Constructs on you, use Blanket of Forgetfullness (no kidding, it actually works on these guys). If you're still having troubles, be patient, keep trying, learn from your mistakes. All you have to do is succeed once.
Just a note, with Enchanter use earth illusion and a faction buff, means the constructs wont be KOS. IVU pass the intial ghosts, once at ratmen use Pacify.
Like most of the epic related mobs in The Hole the trip to him was tougher than the mob himself. The constructs were, of course, rough and a note that one of the several roamers killed when setting up the kill seemed MUCH rougher than the others. Jaeil the Insane himself was a cupcake.
I safely fought to and killed Jaeil with a 65 monk and 65 beastlord. Fighting down was relatively easy until we got to the long tunnel he is in. The gargs and the roaming contructs are all dark blue to 65 and were almost impossible to slow. Watch the walker patterns and see where they go, you can get 1 mob every time. Once down to Jaeil, we waited for a second spawn to make sure we killed all walkers. Just be smart and patient and this is no problem. Best thing about a monk tanking here is mend and healing disc, so Beast heals/Paragon were enough. AA exp was pretty good down there to, mobs dropped alot of gems as well.
I just want to note that this guy is NOT level 50. I was in a small raid of about 8 quildies to help a friend get his Soulbound Hammer and this mob conned red to me (I was level 50 at the time) when he should have conned even. Nevertheless, we went in and took him out. With a 65 Cleric, 65 Druid, 65 Monk, 63 Shammy, 61 Warrior, 57 & 55 Rangers and 50 Chanter (me), it was slight overkill, but it was a good time and my dear friend was able to finish some turn ins that night and got his Swifty :))
