You say, 'What helm?'

Sirtha Scarscale says 'The sarnak are a mockery of the Iksar. They are nothing more than beasts fit only to do our bidding! I require you to bring me the sword of one of their Order of Knights and the head of a sarnak berserker. These beasts have been attacking our patrols of late. I also require a stone called a ruby and a banded helm. Do this and I shall make a helm for you.'

  • Collect a Sarnak Berserker Head from a sarnak berserker in The Overthere.

  • Collect a Sarnak Knight's Sword from a Sarnak knight in the Burning Woods.

  • Collect a Banded Helm.

  • This is made via smithing with this recipe.

  • Collect a Ruby.

  • These can be purchased off jewelcrafting vendors for about 131p.

  • Turn in all these items to Sirtha Scarscale.

  • Need finishing dialogue, faction hits if any.

First of all, let me say that the recommended Level Ranges for these quests are way off. The only way you can complete this quest at level 25 is by begging the items from other players. So don't feel bad if you're 25 and can't complete this quest yet!

Second of all, I did this quest on the Al'Kabor (Mac) server and other servers may be different.

The Sarnak Berserker Head is the easier part to do. Once you're about level 34, you can group in the Overthere and pull your own weight. I started soloing near the Skyfire zoneline, pulling mobs deep into the temple and Fear kiting at lvl 38. The Berserker Head is indeed rather uncommon, and I agree that it's about a 1-in-10 drop. The graphic is a skull, so don't pass it up accidentally.

The Sarnak Knight's Sword is much more difficult. After days of camping at the Skyfire zoneline, I never saw a knight with a sword. If a Sarnak knight can drop it, it doesn't spawn anywhere near Skyfire, so don't waste your time there.

If you choose to go to the Burning Wood, be aware that some mobs in the Frontier Mountains and Burning Woods see through invisible- the giants and the gorilla-like mobs- so if they don't con indifferent to you when you are invisible, stay away! The fort is heavily guarded by Sarnaks, including Knights, Champions, Zealots, Enthusiasts, and probably some other types. The mobs are in groups, so any player or group of players trying to clear these mobs should be able to take on 2-4 mobs at once. For this reason, I recommend a group of at least 3 players at level 39. If there are no knights with swords, you'll have to start clearing mobs and it could get very dangerous because there are many casters. Fortunately, I don't think there are any roamers, but if the fight spreads out too far, other mobs could add. If you or your group can camp Zorash in the Overthere, you can probably camp this area.

What I did was to take a look at the Sarnaks in the BW because I was tired of level grinding. I scouted the fort while invisible and when I saw a Sarnak holding a sword, my jaw dropped. Yes, a Sarnak knight with a sword! He was located in a room off the front courtyard, on the far right side. There were 2 or 3 other Sarnaks in the room, but they were far enough apart that I thought I might have a chance of single-pulling the knight. The first time, I tried to pull with Cancel Magic, because I heard it doesn't cause much aggro. Turned out to be a double pull, and I panicked and tried to run (I had SoW) instead of Feign Death-ing, and got rooted and killed. The second time, I tried pulling with my skeleton pet. Pet attack, engage the mob, then spam Pet back off until the Sarnak and skeleton came to me. Easy single pull. The fight was going very well, using Lifedraw, Siphon Strength, Heart Flutter, Scream of Death, Grim Aura, Turtle Skin (from Lodizal boots) and Strengthen Death on pet. At last the knight turned to run. I whipped off a Spear of Disease for some quick damage and tried to Harm Touch, but pressed the wrong hotkey. The knight got too close to another mob and then some casters came for me and killed me as i vainly tried to FD. The third time was the charm. This time I made sure that I stuck him with Engulfing Darkness to snare him, and changed the Harm Touch hotkey to 5 AND 6. I also put a Heat Blood on him for more DPS. When the knight turned to run, he was snared and easily hit by a Spear and my Harm Touch. I looted the sword and got the heck out of there. Sneak in, kill, sneak out. It was very ninja. :)

K, some people might read this and think I'm crazy. But the Knights in The Overthere drop it too. Although not near as often as in the BW. It took me about 3days of killing Knights right by the ramp to Frontier Mountains. It is MUCH easier to get it here, just get a full group of 33+ and you will have no trouble at all. I hope this helps anyone who needs it. Good luck

The Knights dont spawn ONLY at a table at chardok zone cause i got a sword off of one wandering outside the Fort, i am sure all Knights can carry the sword.

Not true. If you enter BW from FM, turn right and follow the zone wall until you get to a small ruin with 4-6 sarnakd and other mobs in/around it. If you keep clearing that area you can get Knights Sword eventually. But it requires a group to do this in era gear and level.
completed quest, here u have info!
    # Feb 12 2002 at 5:30 AM Rating: Decent
hello there, i have now completed this quest which took me about two days of continuos playing! So listen up, im going to probably help u with this whole quest.. making it easy for u to get this helm, which is in my opinion a good piece for us shadow knights who need STR and INT.

Oki, to all those who think of doing this quest by themselves.......MOhahAHahAHaHAHA!!! this isnt a quest for solo. But ill get back to that later on.. 8) Anyways, the "sarnak berzerker head" is quite ok to get.. it doesnt drop on all berzerkers, only like every 10:th berzerker i would say.. U will be ok if u are around lvl 30 and play with 5 others around that level.. u will get good exp and probably kill alot of berserkers.. i would suggest the LEDGE.

And so we come to the funny part of this quest.. the "sarnak knight sword". people might say this is easy to get, but then i get mad with those people who say things like that. The sword only and only drops from "a sarnak knight", but only those who spawn at a table, in BURNING WOOD, in the sarnak fortress exactly outside CHARDOK zone.. U cannot come into this zone if u arent invisable. A lvl 50 magician tried to go in the hard way.. nuking the sarnaks who were guarding the gate.. well, his pet died in 3 seconds, and he himself... ? they even ran faster than his g boots and killed the poor magician in 10 seconds. And me? well, i was surprised, i stood there invisiable.. thinking of how weird it is that we lvl 30 sk:s need to go all the way here to do this quest.

Well thats how it is, u have to come here if u want the helm! So when u come into Burning Wood zone.. i came from Frontier Mountain.. STICK TO THE EASTERS WALL ALL THE WAY TO THE FORT. Look at a map of BW on the internet.. and see for urself. U dont want to fight any monster in this zone, its not an option at all. Anyways, due to the fact that without invis. ur dead. U cant do this quest till ur lvl 30 (and get gathered shad.) So dont even start thinking of this quest before..! When u do come into the room, in which the table is, u will see one named sarnak standing there, with probably 3 other sarnaks. If ur lucky u will see one (not a chance u will see 2 of them) sarnak knights. and if ur even more lucky u will see a sarnak knight with a sword in his hand. A sarnak knight without holding a sword in his hand will not drop the "sarnak knight sword". It is a fairly rare drop, i had friends killing like 10 sarnak knights (which didnt spawn much at all.. all the time there were extremists, enthusiasts, champions and zealots who spawned..) All of these sarnaks are casters except for the champion and the knight. And watch out for the named sarnak.

How did i get the sword: well its simple but annoying: stay invis at the wall on the opposite side of chardok zone, cus many people bring sarnak trains to the chardok zone line.. OOC for help like: pls can someone help me kill a sarnak knight, i really need his sarnak knight sword for a quest. There will often be no answer. I tried to send tells to everyone. I tried to look for /who all 50 60 .. and see if some people were near the zone BW.. to help me. I tried many times, but most people dont want to help, why? well.. this is a zone where many people are busy.. some are raiding a "wurm" for an epic piece.. most are just passing through in order to get to chardok..

Oh and by the way, dont zone to chardok, it is a one way zone, and u will not be able to zone back, u will need to go through chardok! which is mad.... 8=)

In the end, i got two kind necros.. wanting to help me. One was lvl 53 and one was lvl 52. That was needed for compleating this quest.. After maaaany hours, i saw the knight sword spawn, and he had a sword, i was very happy and thanked my necro heroes 8=) remember, one 50 plus player can even die because of these sarnaks.. so this isnt normal quest i think.. u need alot of guts. Good luck with invis and asking for help!!

    Lvl 31 iksar shad.
Sarnaks are crazy.. u will hate em!

Is it suposed to look like i got a helm on? I have sol. When i equipt it doesnt look like i have it on. Just a normal Iksar face. Is this normal or is it a bug?

    Hey.

You may have figured this out already, but...

With SoL, I've been having problems with the head item not displaying. (My Iksar necro wears a helm of Rile.) If you take it off and put it back on, it should show ok. For me, this works fine, until the next time I camp.

As for the appearance, assuming it still uses the same model as the Helm of Rile, it now looks like some sorta wierd croissant! (A little like the old model for the custom crown of the Mermidon.) I liked the old batwing thing personally! *Sigh*

    Anyhow, how that helps.

    So confusing....
    11 AC, 5 int, 5 to SVs
    6 AC, 9 str, 5 agi

    5 AC, 5 int, 5 SVs OR 9str, 5 agi
why can't they give the Helm of Rile better stats... it only makes choosing so much harder.

This quest is pretty easy at level 18. Just ask to loot these, most people will have no problem with it because they are otherwise worthless.
Oh and by the way, they arent brother and sister, they are mates. Just talk to Sarth. To get to them, walk through one of the portals in the shaman guild and when you come out onto the porch thing, turn left. You should be walking away from the guild master who is on the porch. to your left you will see a little room with a ladder and a merchant. Drop down the ladders a few times til you reach bottom, and turn around. Sarth and his mate Sirith are right there.

Yes i am also attempting this quest now, all i need is the sword. I would like to know what this helmets graphic looks like...Is it like the mask look of the Scaled Coif ( which i like actually) or does it look like the Foremans cap? Would appreciate and feedback on this, perhaps a URl to a pic even...

I have a quick question. Can this be multi quested? I have been searching for this stupid sword for at least a month or so and have not seen it. A bud of mine said he had one in bank from a raid he did on chardok with his guild. I have the bezerker head and ruby. Since we are both iksar can he turn in the sword then i turn in the other stuff to get the helm?

I was just wondering. This, the legs, and the mask would make me a full dreadscale wearing SK.

    Thanks

    Sarnak Knights Sword
    # May 29 2001 at 12:50 PM Rating: Default
I picked one up today in the Burning Woods. Best place I found to get one was at the Sarnak outpost near the entrance to Chardok. Asked in /ooc a lot for people to help me, but since I was on late not a lot of people were forthcoming. That was until Cendil Befallenkeeper <Travelling Merchants> came and helped me out. One of the Sarnak guards (one of the 4 at the entrance to the outpost) was holding the sword (easiest way to see if they have one). The Druid harmonied the other 3, pulled the single Knight, rooted and dotted him till he dropped. I then looted the sword and sung his praises all the way back to Cabalis!

The beserker head was easy, as plenty of people fight these in Overthere. Picked one up as I was picking up the War Braids for the Dreadscale Breastplate. Anyone else but me think it is funny how the braids aren't lore? I grabbed up 3 extra in case I decide to sell my BP and go grab another chitin and get another new one!

DON'T GO TO SARNAK FORTRESS FIRST FOR THE SWORD.

It drops at the sarnak temple off the knight too.
It's plainly visible when he has one, and there are very few sarnaks there compared to the Fortress.

Only hit the fort and follow the other guys advice if you don't find it at loc -4000, -1000, due north of the Frontier Mountain zone.

Gonna sucker the other 10 people in my guild to help me do the rest of the quest for this. Got the berserker head and the rest, but not the sword yet. Last time I asked if I was a high enough level, this is the response I got:

Poservex: "Do you think I could get a hold of one of those swords to finish the quest? Im lvl 31."

Tarasis: "Only if you bring a cleric."

    Poservex: "Why just a cleric?"

Tarasis: "Because you will be shouting for a res shortly after your attempt. LOL"

that was all i got. But now im lvl 41 and might have a good chance. HEHE. Oh well, if I don't make it, plz be kindly enough to take pitty on a scaly Shadow knight and hook him up with a rez.

Personally i prefer that graphic to the Lumberjack cap graphic. I spent a long time wearing that stupid looking skull helm. I like the cabilis scale helm graphic because it is.....well, no reason, I just like it. Are there any other graphics for Iksar helms other than the banded, cabilis scale, and skull thingy?
Stats DO make up for AC (imho)
    # Nov 30 2000 at 6:54 AM Rating: Default
I started work on these quests the day they were implemented and have all the pieces but the breastplate and mask at this point. I've heard many say that the helm of rile has better stats because of the +9 str and the agi bonus (adds to AC) but I must disagree. I switched to the dreadscale helm and the resistance bonus makes a huge difference when soloing (in addition to the higher AC). With a full set of dreadscale (the bp and mask may have resistances as well) I resist a good 70% of casts from blue shaman and sk mobs 1-4 levels below me. This helps when you miss that occasional bash or are pulling the mob back to your pet. I also had the jarsath scale legs (ac15 +5 wis +5 int) from karnors, and switched to the dreadscales which due to the STA and MR more than make up for the 4 point difference in AC from jarsath. It is noticeable, that even though dreadscale is lower AC than darkforge and significantly lower AC on some pieces than jarsath/sebilite, the stats coupled with the built in iksar AC bonus at level 30+ will make you as or more protected than most non-iksars with a full set of their mid-level quest armor.

Yesterday outside chardok, a monk friend of mine pulled a sanark knight. He has some special sword, knight sword of somehting .. i forget the exact name, the stats were 7/33, +some agil, some hp, some magic resist, i think.. I might be compelete wrong on the stats. But the Sword was No Drop, so I had him loot. Ask sscales on tarew marr if your curious about the stats and they aren't posted in a couple of days, im not sure if he deleted it because he is an iskar monk.. but i had him loot anywasy, becasue a troll shaman isn't gonna compelete this quest ...

The sanark knight was weilding the sword when he was pulled, and this happened last night at about 2am pst 11/17.
Oh, the sanark was at the Burning woods fortress, right outside the chardok entrance where there are the 3 sanarks sitting around the table, and the 1 that is out just a little way away from the table.

More than likely, this sword is a rare drop off of any Sarnak Knight, including those you will encounter in The Overthere. There is no way they expect us to go into a zone like Burning Woods to get this item.

I've killed a jillion wandering Sarnak Knights in The Overthere, and I've never seen or heard of a sword on any of them. I've never tried the camps there...I suppose they're a possibility. Definitely don't waste your time in a ledge or SW corner group if you want the sword, though.

There are two swords that drop from sarnark that I know of so far. One is the sarnark(iskar?) ceremonial sword(2hs 7 34, hps and mr and agi?,not no drop) found on various sarnark(I think a knight had it, neat graphic lousy stats). The runic carver that drops from a named sarnark(who may be a shadow knight) over by the Chardock entrance.

Ok, I just gave her a ruby, a sarnak berzerker head, a banded helm, and a Sarnak Ceremonial Sword. NOTHING

The Sarnak Ceremonial Sword is not the correct sword. That means it is either the Blade of Passage or there is a new drop on Sarnak Knights that is rare. I believe it to be the latter.

I looked on eqlizer today and saw a posted Sarnak Knights sword found in burning woods of a sarnak knight so that must be the sword.

I obtained the Helm - AC 11 Int 5 SV vs all 5. The AC is nice but the stats on the Helm of rile are alot nicer. The sword is dropped by Random Sarnak Knights in BW by Chardok. They wield them if they have it.

For a Shadow Knight how can you say the helm of Rile is better? AC 6 +9 str +5 agi sucks compared to AC 11 Int 5 SV vs all 5. 5 more AC and a half a bubble of mana for the int is great. I wear an Enchanted Cabilis Scale Helm now AC 12 +2 str +2 wis and that is even better than the Helm of Rile. The Dreadscale helm is better for SKs than the Enchanted Cabilis Scale Helm. I would trade 1 AC and 2 str for the +5 int anyday and all the sv stats are great because there is very little Iksar armor that does that.
