Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".
For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry. This is an anniversary quest available only during anniversary season (a few weeks during March and April). It was introduced in 2009 as part of EverQuest's 10th anniversary. This is one of 16 deity quests. For an overview of how rewards work and how these quests are linked with one another, see this writeup. Below here are the details for this particular quest. This task begins with the Avatar of Rallos Zek, located at the Plane of Tactics portal stone. You say, 'Hail, Avatar of Rallos Zek' Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'Mortal, why do you disturb me? Do you really think you are [worthy] to utter a greeting to me, and survive?' You say, 'I am worthy' Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'Though I am sorely tempted to give myself the satisfaction of killing you and flaying your soul from your dying carcass, I am also compelled by your bravado. Perhaps you can be useful to me. I would have more worshippers to fulfill my rightful place of power among the other gods of this world. Are you ready to offer your soul, your body, your very [self] to my service?' You say, 'I offer myself' Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'Know that I do not merely accept worshippers the way I once did. I have had difficulties in the past finding mortal accomplices capable of carrying out my will without flaw. As a result, I demand a test of each of my followers, the better to prevent the kind of failure which allowed the Rathe Council to impose a great [curse] on my followers.' You say, 'A curse?' Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'Yes, entire races enthralled to my service were ruined, made weaker, by the curse of the Rathelings. I blame Murdunk, who performed my will but failed to apprise me of the true losses he was sustaining in the Korascian Warrens, so that when he reached the Rathe Council chambers, he had such insufficient strength that sending both Tallon and Vallon, as well as my own personal intervention, failed to stop an army of determined mortals from blocking access to the Rathe Thaumatox. Not only do I require obedience of my subordinates, but I must have truth and clarity from them as well, or all our endeavors are destined to fail. You are brave enough to speak to me with honesty, perhaps you will [accept] the challenge to become my devoted worshipper.' You say, 'I accept' Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'To pass my challenge, you must face and defeat yourself in battle three times. Only the worthiest warriors can outsmart and outfight themselves once, let alone thrice. Go to the Lavastorm Mountains and seek out my minion Togg Purk. He will tell you how to perform this challenge.' You have been assigned the task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor'. Prove your might in battle! Kill some dopplegangers! Speak to Togg Purk in Lavastorm Mountains 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) He is located at +680, +30 (a bit north of Nektulos). You say, 'Hail, Togg Purk' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. Togg Purk says 'You come to take challenge of Rallos Zek? You dumb or somethin'? You not creature of Zek, but maybe you strong enough. I summon doppelganger, but you gotta ask nice.' You say, 'Ready!' Togg Purk says 'Togg have nothing to say to you. Go away puny insect!' Agree to be tested in a battle to the death against your own doppleganger 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) NOTE: If a doppleganger is up you have to wait for it to die. If you hail before this you have to tell him "ready" to get yours to spawn. You say, 'Hail, Togg Purk' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. Togg Purk says 'That better. I make doppelganger, it fight you in the lava pit. You worship Rallos, you gotta kill your doppelganger!' Kill the first doppleganger 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You'll fight "a doppleganger". Bring news of the first doppleganger's defeat to Togg Purk 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You say, 'Hail, Togg Purk' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. Togg Purk says 'Togg Purk grimaces at the news you bring. "Hey, you beat first doppelganger. Maybe you powerful enough to beat the second one, too, heh? Wouldn't bet on it."' Kill the second doppleganger 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You'll fight "a fierce doppleganger". Bring news of the second doppleganger's defeat to Togg Purk 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You say, 'Hail, Togg Purk' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. Togg Purk says 'Togg Purk looks you over and grunts. "Two of my doppelgangers you kill, eh? Well Rallos Zek may like you after all. You gotta kill number three to find out for sure, though."' Kill the third doppleganger 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You'll fight "a raging doppleganger". Bring news of the third doppleganger's defeat to Togg Purk 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains) You say, 'Hail, Togg Purk' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. Togg Purk says 'You killed the last doppelganger! That was the strongest one, all right, you must be tough enough. Toughness is good for creatures that follow Rallos. Okay, I pray to Rallos and tell him you are coming to see him.' Speak to Rallos Zek's avatar and prove your worthiness 0/1 (Plane of Tranquility) You say, 'Hail, Avatar of Rallos Zek' Your task 'Warrior's Rest - Rallos Zek's Favor' has been updated. You have successfully completed the task of proving your strength and cunning to Rallos Zek. Avatar of Rallos Zek says 'Mortal, you bring me hope that my power will again return to this fading world. The defeat of three doppelgangers was no easy task. Know that with your unmatched strength and aggression, tempered with mortal wisdom, I shall one day take my rightful place at the head of Norrath's pantheon. I give you a token of the trust I place in you as the new implement of my will.' I have completed this with a level 44 character. It appears there isn't a level restriction on this one.
I'm not uber. I'm wearing only T5 SoD gear with just the mithril 2hander from the Old Man missions, and still this was cake solo without a merc. They barely scratch you. They are even weaker than edracer suggests; at least in his scenario they would still be able to do as much damage as you can, just by hitting the attack button. If these doppelgangers (not dopplegangers, hehe) are copies, it's pretty much in appearance only. They con even, but are equivalent to half your level or lower. And all three copies are identical; they don't get any harder as you progress, and you fight them one at a time. Even all three at once wouldn't be a challenge the way it's set up.
On a side note, it's interesting that even though they con even and it says you gained experience when you kill them, they don't actually give you any experience at all (like the spectres during Mithaniel Marr's favor).
BTW, you don't have to go looking for them, even though Togg's text suggests he is spawning them in some lava pit; they spawn nearby, immediately aggro you, and run right up to you.
On a side note, it's interesting that even though they con even and it says you gained experience when you kill them, they don't actually give you any experience at all (like the spectres during Mithaniel Marr's favor).

Actually what is even more funny is if you de-equip weapons, the doppelganger spawns with NO weapons/shield.... bascically whatever you have on, it spawns with :)

is based upon your level and me being 85 hit me for a max of 256... these guys are a joke but fun none the less :)

The Doppleganger is an even con of yourself. NO worries though, it would be like fighting yourself against the guy who bought your account of of E-Bay. In other words, the even con copy of you can't fight worth a poo. :-)

This is a DRUIDS quest hehe... bind in PoT by Avatar and once a day you can finish it in like 10 minutes.
