Event Coordinator Baublie Diggs says 'I can give you a test of your tradeskill abilities in any of eleven different tradeskills. I can test you on [alchemy], [baking], [brewing], [fletching], [jewelry] making, [poison] making, [pottery], [smithing], spell [research], [tailoring], or [tinkering].' You say, 'Smithing.' She will assign you a task dependent on your skill. The levels appear to be Beginner (50-99), Apprentice (100-149), Freshman (150-199), Journeyman (200-249), Expert (250-299), Master (300). You have been assigned the task 'Beginner Smith Test'. Event Coordinator Baublie Diggs says 'Ok take this list, make the recipes on it, and give them to the Judge for Approval. Be sure to read all of the rules.' You have been given: Beginner Smith Scorecard Give the scorecard to Baublie. Event Coordinator Baublie Diggs says 'Congratulations! That was great work. Here is your trophy.' You receive the Beginner Smith Trophy. The trophies are evolving items that also evolve as you craft recipes within a certain non-trivial range (reportedly 100) above your current skill level. Once you pass into the next skill level bracket, the trophy should evolve soon afterward. The trophies can also summon weight-reducing bags like the older trophies. When you take these bags to Jolum in the Bazaar, you get an Essence, and can combine the Essence in a forge to get a permanent weight-reducing bag specific to smithing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I tried to get the trophy quest at (45) she would not give it to me I went back at (50) skill and she gave me the trophy quest I asked for so apparently all trophy quests are required skill (50) to begin

Interesting, but it seems the 2 pots I created and turned in as part of the Beginner Potter's quest gave me credit for creating and turning in the 2 pots you need for the beginner's Smithing quest.
Update: You still get credit in both quests for creating the 2 pots for one quest, but you don't get credit for both quests for turning in the 2 pots for one quest. So you still have to create 2 pots for each quest.

PLEASE NOTE; You must have a smithing skill of 50 before she will give you the beginners quest! You can get there easily on the ship in Abysmal Sea with FREEBIE smithing quest from Snokin Breaksteel located on the ship at +95, +275. He provides materials.
You will need some ceramic linings, which will require pottery, so you may wanna do that one in Abysmal Sea too.

For people reading this 3+ years later: Only do Abysmal Sea quests if you plan on refining your own GoD materials for that specific skill, since you need to do roughly 480 combines and related turn ins, to get the 'secret of refining'. So you may as well get that secret when your skill is 0.
Otherwise, you're better off skilling to 54 in Crescent Reach as they require a lot less combines and you can keep asking for more [supplies] even if you made the required 20 to complete the task to save yourself some turn ins.
