Vorskahn may be found at +1665, -1515. You may do this quest at any faction standing.

You say, 'Hail, Vorskahn'

Vorskahn says 'You're a brave one to have lasted in these lands for so long. Perhaps we can use your help? The few of us that are still resisting Mata Muram are attempting hit and run strikes on his supply lines. The only trouble is these blasted kyvs. Their bows can strike a field mouse under a new moon at a thousand paces. A few of my fighters fall to their arrows with every retreat. If you are truly sympathetic to our cause, you will bring me as many kyv hearts as you can. We need their numbers thinned out now more than ever.'

Give him one Kyv Heart.

Vorskahn says 'Well done. For every kyv you bring down you save the life of one of my few remaining soldiers. Soon you will be hailed as a friend amongst the few dragorn that still resist the Muramites.'

Your faction standing with Dranik Loyalists has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Overlord Mata Muram has been adjusted by -1.

Now that we can see the actual faction hits given by kills and quests I went to check this out, and, as expected, it is 1 hit just like any kill.

You can get kyv hearts from Old Bloodfields and actually get experience while collecting these for faction hits, but it would be much faster to just do the standard mass killing methods.

If you're able to find one on a vendor, they will set you back only about 50pp depending on your charisma.

dubious

has anyone calculated how many faction hits are needed to go from starting of dubious to apprehensive
1 hit per hand-in?
# Dec 23 2004 at 8:24 PM Rating: Excellent
Killing mobs in a group in DS as the puller, I was able to /con an NPC on loyalist faction every pull and here's what I saw happen:

1) go out to pull, /con apprehensive
2) kill 5 greenies on faction
3) go out to pull, /con indif
4) turn in 4 kyv hearts (4 seperate hand-ins)
5) kill 93 mobs on faction
6) go out to pull, /con indif
7) kill 2 mobs on faction
8) go out to pull, /con amiable

Assuming that indif is 100 points wide...
If the very last of the first 5 put me at indif, and the first of the last 2 put me at amiable, that's 95 mob deaths and 4 hand-ins. If we assume that the first of the first did it and the last of the last did it, then it's 100 mobs and 4 hand-ins. This places doing this quest between 0 and 1.25 faction points.

If I further assume that faction hits are integral, then this quest is worth 1 faction point.

Again, my assumptions are:
1) indifferent is 100 faction hits wide
2) if it says you get a faction hit, you gain at least 1
3) all faction hits are integer numbers.

Anyone know anything to contradict those assumptions?

Haim the Wee Warrior:

You are as Wise as you are Short :) After all the time I have spent in the land of Discord I must agree with you. I am up to Warmly status and I give little thanks to the cases of Kyv Hearts and gallons of Murkglider Spinal Fluid delivered to these ungreatful Dragorn Quest hacks. Now with that said I say we let others be the judge of the effectivness dispite your accurate observations. I would like to confirm your assumption about the indifferent hits and add the age old list I have always used for faction.

Ready to Attack : - 2800 to - 801
Threateningly : - 800 to - 501
Dubious : - 500 to - 101
Apprehensive : - 100 to - 1
Indifferent : 0 to 99
Amiable : 100 to 499
Kindly : 500 to 699
Warmly : 700 to 1099
Ally : 1100 to 2800

Okay this is now the third different faction list i've seen. Does anyone Know which is correct? Ie not "it has always worked for me" or "well I read this one first" etc. I'd love to know because there's several factions i'm trying to raise.

Here's the three i've now seen:

Either:
Ally = 1450 to 2500
Warmly = 1100 to 1450
Kindly = 750 to 1100
Amiable = 150 to 750
Indifferent = 0 to 150
Apprehensive = 0 to -150
Dubious = -150 to -750
Threateningly = -750 to -1100
Ready to Attack = -1100 to -2500

or:
Ally : 1100 to 2800
Warmly : 750 to 1099
Kindly : 500 to 749
Amiable : 100 to 499
Indifferent : 0 to 99
Apprehensive : -100 to -1
Dubious: -500 to -101
Threatening: -750 to -501
Scowls: -2800 to -751

or:
Ally : 1100 to 2800
Warmly : 700 to 1099
Kindly : 500 to 699
Amiable : 100 to 499
Indifferent : 0 to 99
Apprehensive : -100 to -1
Dubious : -500 to -101
Threateningly : -800 to -501
Ready to Attack : -2800 to -801

The only way you are going to get better than "It worked for me" is if you check it yourself or look at the code.

Indifferent faction level is indeed 100 points and unless they changed it (which I highly doubt) all faction hits are integers.
Factioning
# Dec 04 2004 at 10:35 AM Rating: Decent
Factioning for Dranik loyalists takes a long time unless you do what I did (and it still took a while). Get 11 friends (druids, chanters, Mages, Wizards 1-2 tanks and a cleric or 2) and AE near Bloodfields Zone line - we pulled every kyv, ukun and noc we could find 20-30 at a time for 3 3hrs sessions. Made about 6-7k in vendor loot and got about 8 augs and some tradeskill stuff. Went from threatening to Kindly with just a few more kills to warmly in this time.

AE is the way to go. I killed for 8 hrs in MPG one day and barely moved one faction level in a chain pulling group so AE > ALL.

# Jan 08 2005 at 2:36 PM Rating: Decent
If you are not an AE class but want the faction if you heal someone doing AE you get every faction hit they do or if you buff them or anything. Not sure how a melee only class would be able to get all the hits the AE'rs do maybe bind wound hehe.
RE: Factioning
# Jan 24 2005 at 5:31 PM Rating: Decent
Bind Wounds will not allow a pure melee to gain faction during aoe. Warriors should use rampage, other classes I suggest getting an aoe weapon, there are a handful of crappy aoe procers that will help with faction in this manner.

For a warrior... I got my level 61 DON Disc called Whirling Blades it hits everthing in a small area... so Melee AOE... highest I counted is 15 hits on 15 different mobs at once. some crits most not... but it works for factioning.

Get some insta-junkbuff like Bracer of the Hidden, spam on one of the AEers (wiz/chanter). As you buff you get all the faction hits too.

near bloodfields in which zone? Lost City, or Dranik's Scar?
RE: Factioning
# Dec 28 2004 at 10:27 AM Rating: Decent
He is probably refering to Dranik's Scar. I have been camping Ukun Slavehunter and the Kyv, Ukuns and Nocs in the area are all green and plentiful. Every one of them is good Loyalist faction and no Dragorns, Murkgliders or animals to bother with. I went from Apprehensively to Amiably in about 8 hours of soloing. Got 5 augments and 10k in trash drops.
Oh btw beware Ukon Boneretreivers and Kyv Headhunter. They agro from so far away you dont see them. Both summon and sometimes 2-5 ukon boneretreivers pop with kyv headhunter. Also Blackfall Borer randomly spawns in this area for 2-5 minutes and then despawns. Caught me by surprise a few times.

From what I have read on the subject, this is one of the many quests that can be done to raise Dranik Loyalists Faction. No Loot, probably no experience, just a bump up in faction.

The good news is that the only way to lower Dranik Loyalists faction is to kill the quest NPCs themselves.

The bad news is that it's going to take many a session, whether doing the various faction quests or killing Kyvs, Nocs, and Ukuns, to get your faction up.

The quest NPCs will not attack, even when they con scowling. After 3 days of hunting, I'm up to threatening.

You need warmly or above to be able to attempt the OoW armor quests.

Good Hunting to all!!

I successfully completed this faction quest while dubious to Loyalists. There does not appear to be any money or item requard for completing this quest, as is the case for all of the pure faction quests I've seen in OoW so far.

Ultra Rare ... ?????
# Oct 31 2004 at 5:49 PM Rating: Decent
These must be Ultra rare or maybe somone forgot to programe in they actually can drop ... have been raising faction what seems to be an age killing Kyvs on the Battlments around the ZL to NC plus what i have killed in other zones yet i have yet to see a heart ... If this is to help build faction with Loyalists then maybe somone should increase the drop rate a little .... at least to the point where they actually drop... Yet i have seen 1 Noc heart in DHb .... is there a quest for these too somwhere ..... ah well back to kyv heart hunting :/

We got one tonight off a regular kyv in a Lava Pits expedition in Dranik's Scar.

We've done a number of these expeditions, and I've killed quite a few kyvs in Dranik's Scar. This is the first heart I've seen drop.

Have been camping RCoD 2 days now and there the Kyv Heart drop pretty commonly of the Kyv's.

Dont think they drop in DS as weve hunted there for faction.

Kyv hearts drop off archers in Nobles, Dranik, and dranik instances. turn 1 in for faction, turn 4 in you get the same thing. Just faction, no xp, no pp, no quest items. Was warmly at time of handin, maybe you have to be ally, who knows.
